We had heard nothing but great reviews about the new China Mama restaurant in the Palace casino, so we decided to check it out.We arrived at 3 pm and restaurant had about 3-4 guest tables. There was a chef doing a video on one of their dishes by the front entrance with the hostess. Neither greeted us and we waited for another gentleman to seat us and give us menus. 15 minutes went by with no one coming to our table to take our order. When the hostess was finished with her video, we flagged her down and told her no one had been to our table. She left and came back and said there was only two servers on duty, and one of them were on break, and that the remaining server was handling the whole restaurant. Someone will be with us shortly. Huh???? She couldn't have taken our order????Not having a clue when that would be, we decided to leave. As we were walking out she said "goodbye" and waved. I guess they didn't need our money. As far as the menu goes, it was really non descriptive, all the usual suspects, nothing that looked like a signature dish or worthy of a trip back. It was a $$$ restaurant rating, so it wasn't inexpensive. Very disappointed in the guest experience. The restaurant looked very nice and new. Now they just need to stop scaring people away

China Mama is well known for offering authentic Chinese Dishes. The Palace Station Location is beautiful and airy looking with an open kitchen and bar. High end Wines are available here. I had a 5 star experience at the Chinatown location. The Palace Station location is even closer for me and comes with easy close parking.I asked for an Iced Tea. I was surprised that my only choice was raspberry iced tea so I just went with water. Our server tried to be helpful and talked us out of the dishes we tried to order. He talked us out of the chilled assorted vegetables, the stir fried wood ear mushrooms with Chinese Yam & asparagus, The Mongolian Beef, and the poached sliced beef in chili sauce. He said that some of them would be too spicy hot for us and he also suggested other dishes that he thought were better.Anyways - We went with the one of the Signature Dishes called Sliced Fish Filet with Pickled Mustard, the Sizzling Beef with black pepper sauce, and the stir fried green beans with two side orders of rice.About 20 minutes latter a really large bowl of fish soup comes out and the green beans. We weren't given bowls or spoons so I thought maybe you aren't suppose to eat the broth? We only had chopsticks and plates. Many people including management checked on us and nobody offered bowls or spoons. ANYWAYS - This was much more food than I was expecting so my husband helped me eat it. It was different than I thought it would be. It was spicy with hot peppers with a pickled mustard laced taste. The fish had a grainy texture instead of a silky texture. The green beans were very good but didn't pair well after the spicy fish.At least 20 minutes passed again and the beef dish didn't come out. We were done and my husband flagged someone down to say that we no longer wanted the beef dish. Then a minute latter they run out the beef dish. One of the managers said he was taking the beef dish off our bill and that we could bring it home. I said, Thank You. The take out beef dish contained a generous amount of beef but might have been missing the black pepper sauce and carrots. Not perfect service or food here.

After booking a small win at the craps table in the Palace Station, I asked Sean, one of my usual craps buddies, to get us a comp meal at China Mama since I had to go #1.He got us (including our Honolulu Yelp buddy Craig T., who joined us on part of the trip), a $100 comp meal at China Mama. This restaurant location used to be the Boat House but for some reason they replaced that pretty good restaurant with an even better one a few months ago. We sat at the counter in the front of the restaurant, in the same place we sat when it was the Boat House Restaurant.China Mama was out of the Deep Fried Shrimp at 9:00 on the Friday we were there, but the waiter suggested we order the Shrimp and Walnuts, which was pretty good. The cornstarch added to the sauce makes the dish different than what we get in Honolulu, but the amount of shrimp was substantial. Around 1.5x the shrimp in a typical order in Honolulu. We also ordered the Stir-Fried String Beans which were excellent. I guess it's hard to screw up a simple dish like this so if you like this, it's a no brainer to order it.We also ordered the Mapo Tofu which is another favorite dish. The version here was not one of my favorites because, although it was served atop a chafing dish which kept it warm the whole time, the serving dish above was shallow and the tofu was a little difficult to scoop out and the sauce was really chili oily. It was even harder to eat if from my plate with only chopsticks because the tofu was so silken soft that it gave under the slight pressure of the chopsticks so I had to follow it as it broke danced around the plate. Reminder to self: get spoon next time if there is a next time. Or don't order again. We also ordered the beef chow fun which is one of Sean's favorites. He usually orders that when we are eating Chinese in Honolulu. This version was very good. Sean remarked that he thought it was way better than at Ping Pang Pong in the Gold Coast where we eat on every trip to Vegas. It was.We also had a sushi roll but I don't know what it was called since Sean ordered it. I don't usually like to order raw fish dishes in Vegas since I am old school. But this looked pretty good and the ahi was fresh. I was surprised that the roll also included a few slices of sashimi and julienne radish and shiso.Overall, a great meal for $106 plus $20 tip, less $100 comp. Will repeat.

First try for China Mama in Palace Station casino. Had a 20 minute wait on a Sat at 1:45. Service was excellent, more upscale than I expected. The room is VERY NICE! We ordered Orange Chicken and Walnut Shrimp and Beef Fried rice. All served family style, plenty of good food! Prices are a bit higher than expected but then came out large portions. Highly recommend!

We came here as we are HUGE China Mama fans. We have been coming since the first location and we're excited to try the new one at Palace Station. the overall design of the place is beautiful. It is airy and open and has an elegance to it. Definitely great for dates and celebrations. We were sat fairly quickly however the service when it came to food was extremely slow. We ordered all of our food items at the same time and received it slowly at different timings leading to the temperature losing heat on the first item by the time we got the second item. We ordered the mapo tofu and waited an additional 30 minutes to get it after we received the first plate. Because of this error, the manager took it off our bill, but still led to us not being able to really enjoy the full meal altogether as we wanted to and do at the other locations. The only other thing that I saw was at one point our waiter and a hostess stood next to us and talked bad about previous customers, and they're tipping amounts and tipping habits. It was kind of weird to hear that as you're sitting 2 feet away from them and just gave an overall unprofessionalism look. This will not deter us from going to other China Mom locations, although the wait is long but we will reconsider this particular location on our next visit. I know this location is fairly new, so perhaps some adjustments can be made or retraining that will definitely lead to the success of this location.

We had the pleasure of eating lunch at China Mama, in Palace Station, today. The menu is the same as it is for dinner. We had hot and sour soup, pot stickers, soup dumplings, crispy beef (oh my), orange chicken, eggplant, two sushi dishes, rice, Japanese choc cheesecake and tea. Everything, every single thing was perfection. The service was incredible. Constant attention was paid. And, the restaurant is beautiful.Five stars is not sufficient. To say we highly recommend China Mama would be a major understatement. Enjoy.

Three of us went there on a Wednesday around 5:30pm and were seated right away. The restaurant has an attractive interior with both table and counter service. We had six soup dumplings, sesame chicken, walnut shrimp, fried rice and jasmine rice. All were very good. Our waiter, Tony, was helpful and friendly. We will return as this is now our go-to Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas.
