Dave S. "I have been doing business with Desert Meats for over 20 years. They have always been able to provide me with the highest quality meats at the best price. When you deal with a company for that many years mistakes will happen, what sets a company apart from others is how they respond to a problem. Desert Meats has never let me down even when I have called at the last minute because I forgot to place an order or we were busier than I expected. They have always meet my needs with the highest quality beef available. Their meat buyers are the best in the business and with the volume of meat that I use, I need the best in the business making deals for me. Desert Meats and team, thanks for all that you do, especially in these times when beef is at all time record highs."

Stefany V. "Run-down market, interior looks more like a convenience store slash bodega than a grocery, but they have all manner of cooking supplies here, including fresh produce, a great meat counter, fresh juices, more Mexican candies than you can shake a stick at, and a surprisingly extensive cosmetics section.Get the carne asada and grill at home, the chicken and beef fajitas plus some extra peppers and onions, chicken adobo legs are enormous (1/3 pound each, easily), fish ceviche is like $2/lb- can't beat that!Might want to take cash to shop here- my card wouldn't swipe at the register, my guy had to pay. Heads up, the Pollo Mobile truck is usually in the parking lot, grab groceries for later but grab dinner hot and ready from them.Side note: Yelp check in offers a dollar off rotisserie chicken, but I didn't even see any?"

Heather N. "Placed an online order after seeing Franco's in Stefany V's stories. I ordered the combo kit. The kit came with everything you need for taco night. It had chicken and steak, corn tortillas, onion, cilantro, limes, chips, and 3 salsas. That weekend they were having a special where you get a free side of rice and beans with your order. I also added a side of guacamole. You can add cheese and sour cream too. They really have everything you need. All you need is something to cook it on. The best part they deliver right to your door. The food was so good. Meats were tender and flavorful. We especially loved the guac and were glad we opted for the larger size. I would probably skip the rice and beans next time but was happy I got to try them at no charge. I will def be ordering again."

Dan M. "So one of the things I miss the most after moving to Vegas is a dedicated Korean style meat/butcher shop. I had been doing all my shopping at Greenland but it wasn't the same level of premium quality that I had found in the bay area and others. One lucky afternoon, I decided to grab some lunch at Café Sanuki and upon pulling into the market I noticed in the distance Korean characters pointing to a meat market. This immediately peaked my interest so I made my way over to check it out. This joint is nestled in between honey pig and co ahn and can be easy to miss given how small the storefront is.When I walked in the layout is simple. There are some meat items in the freezer on the right with brisket, pork jowl, intestine, etc., a fridge on the left with some side dishes and a few assorted items, and then directly ahead a counter with a bunch of premium meat products like short rib, marinated bulgogi and galbi, and other cuts as well. It seems they also double up and offer some "to go dishes" for lunch orders like combo boxes, fried chicken, etc. for those interested. The service both times I have been has been absolutely delightful and the quality here and selection is enough to make any meat fan happy. In my last few visits, I have picked up the wagyu brisket, the unmarinated short rib, rib finger, and of course the ribeye. All is perfect for a light grill and then some salt... absolute perfection. The quality is absolutely top notch and I have enjoyed every single cut so far. There is definitely a premium for the price but you are really getting what you pay for. The marbling is perfect and spot on and the tenderness is absolutely on point. This is a solid shop that deserves more press. Definitely check it out as they have just recently opened and of course are a small shop worth the support."

Mary H. "I went to look around as I typically don't go to butcher shops (I typically purchase proteins from grocery stores). It was very clean and organized. A lot of space for customers to move around and browse. They offer a vast variety of proteins, and products such as marinades, rubs, oils, herbs, BBQ grilling utensils, and even charcoal and wood chips. Oddly enough, I did not see any grill wood pellets (which is what would have been my specific interest). My visit was by chance so I was just browsing (it is near a restaurant that was my actual destination). If I would have been going home afterwards I might have purchased some proteins, but not today. Still, a very nice store and I was impressed. There were several other customers there at the time, so it seems popular."

Steve F. "I FINALLY stopped into this place and was pleasantly surprised. This place is bustling and for good reason. It's not a one stop place for everything you might need, but there are a lot of strengths I discovered upon my first visit. First off the staff is very friendly, giving the place a good vibe. I made it back to the meat counter and Humberto the butcher was helpful, without being pushy. The day I was there NY Strip Steaks were on sale for 3.99 a lb. beautifully trimmed, marbled and about 2" thick. All of the sausages are house made. I asked Humberto if he has any chorizo ( I know that's sausage in Spanish-but I was hoping for something with a little more of a Mexican flair). His face lit up and he told me he has the best chorizo I have ever tasted and asked if I would like a sample. Of course I said yes. He whacks off a chunk, takes it to the kitchen at the end of the meat counter, and a few minutes later proudly offers me a generous, fresh hot sample of his creation. It was spectacular. He told me he makes it with fresh ground chicken, and FRESH jalapeno, green and red bell pepper, mint, parsley, celery, and cilantro. Yeah...all ingredients are fresh, not dried or frozen, and $2.49 a pound. It was spectacular. Full of multi layered flavor, not spicy hot, but absolutely delicious...I'm not afraid of hot BTW...He pointed out that NY Strip Steaks were $3.99 a pound that week so I left with some fantastic chicken sausage and steaks. He made mention of the kitchen (separately run) and I told him I noticed they serve birria. He says, "would you like a sample?", of course I said yes, and it was good, a little tame on the spicy hot, but I know that can be taken care of no problem. For the size of the market, the produce section looked solid (fresh, clean, nothing wilty or rotting on the shelves), and they had a solid tequila selection as well. I also noticed baked whole chickens for $4.99 each, a decent selection of Mexican baked goods, the typical staples you would expect from any market, and an "A" grade from the health department. All in all, this place is very much a neighborhood spot that is worth a visit. Don't judge this book by it's cover :-)"

Like their meat and poultry areas. Place is big and clean. May need more help."

Lorri P. "I really enjoy shopping here and even more so now that I live on this side of town. The food quality is solid, the service is cool. I don't speak Spanish, I do notice the employees seem more chatty with Spanish speakers and that's totally cool, I need to learn so I can be chatty as well. They are friendly though, I just like to know my cashiers at the store for a personal connection. Although I did give 5 stars, if I could rate the parking lot, it would be negative 100. As a single woman, I NEVER feel SAFE in the parking lot due to the pan handling and I'm always looking over my shoulders and running to my car. I will NEVER shop there at night because of the pan handling, I don't feel safe.Could I drive across town to Henderson or Summerlin to shop and feel "safer"? Sure, but I live here and want to shop and support my local grocery store. As the anchor store here, you gotta do something. It's dim lit and not safe at night at all. It's not safe in the day but I at least take a better chance surviving it in the daylight."

Olivia S. "Another yummy bbq place in Vegas, making a total of 3 lol. Was hoping to go to one of them while on this side of town but they were closed Tuesdays so we ended up here. I love the system they have though. Very efficient. Get a water while you wait, and decide from one of the many menus outside, or if you're lucky like we were you can get a recommendation from a repeat customer. Inside was kind of full so we stayed outside til it thinned out more. A super sweet lady came outside to take our order and helped us make a couple sides decisions. We did the 3 meat platter with smoked chicken (was recommended over pulled), brisket and tri tip (only available Tuesday/Thursday) and our repeat customer line neighbor recommended the burnt ends dinner. Two sides for each, Mac n cheese, chili, Cole slaw and another employee recommendation of baked beans. She also told us that inside you can sample whatever you want! We did cornbread and a slider roll. Finally we got inside and it's cafeteria style on the left, and the meat counter/butcher shop on the right. I didn't take a pic of their offerings and I'm bummed about it. But we tasted the pulled pork - absolute fire, and chicken, not bad but the pork was the star. We also tried the greens, they're ok, I just had a bunch of my aunts and moms and they can make some greens! So it wasn't a comparison. Woman wanted yams or sweet potatoes and we got both bbq sauces. Hot & mild. We sat outside as to try everything hot. The cornbread is like a sweet little cake. Not a big fan of it but was curious and if you like it sweeter you'll appreciate it. The greens weren't bad, but the Mac really grew on me! The tri tip, and brisket were smoky perfection. The brisket had the perfect marble/fattiness that made it melt in the mouth. The chicken was also falling off the bone tender and smoky deliciousness. I assumed the burnt ends were pork but they are beef. The sauce is the perfect accompaniment for them. The sauce!!!!! So stinking good. Not too sweet, it makes the bbq pop, especially the burnt ends. Woman said the slider tasted homemade and transported her to childhood. I'm not a big bake beans fan but I tasted them, she enjoyed them and the Cole slaw. The chili was yummy, beanless, my fave! I saved it, and added a bunch of cheese and some sour cream at home. The worst part of the experience was the bees WOULD NOT leave us alone!!! It was so hard to sit and eat and talk as a result. But that's literally the worst thing I can say. I went and got more sauce to go, and sampled a rib. Really did us a disservice not having pork on the plate. Our cat loves ribs so we gave the majority of it to him but it was heaven too! We got a peach cobbler which we paired w some haagen daz vanilla bean and it was perfect. Not too sweet or soupy. All in all it was an amazing experience and I'm glad it's kinda far bc they'd be getting all my money lol. Service was fantastic. Everyone inside was just as kind and courteous, especially sample lady! Such a great experience, I'll definitely be back!"

Today we decided to venture out to the Southwest location so we can try their sandwiches, which I'm glad we did. My husband got the Wagyu patty melt, which was flavored perfectly. It's served with some sort of beer Mac n cheese, which was incredible. I opted for the cheesesteak, which was just ok. The meat was good but overall, it was missing flavor. Now the sweet potato tots were amazing and made up for the sandwich. I see why people go to this location since it offers the little extra when you're out shopping! We decided to stop by The Butcher Block to pick up a few pieces! The Butcher Block is located in Northwest Las Vegas, off of the 215/Durango N exit. It's located in a shopping plaza next to a few other local businesses such as North End Pizza. The parking can get really difficult especially during the evening hours around 4-5 pm.Inside the Butcher Block, you'll notice a lot of fresh meat selections. The cuts were phenomenal. You can purchase Filet Mignon, Ribs, Chicken, Sausages, Steak Burgers and so much more! The Filets were amazing! The cuts were lean. We seasoned the steaks with pepper and salt, topped with garlic butter. It was scrumptious!! Next time, I'll have to try some of their pre-made options and get a few cuts of their sausages."

Bodie and his wife took the time to explain the selection to me as a new customer, and even offered to switch out items from the cases that we didn't feel we would use. We are slowly making our way through the items, and couldn't be happier with the taste and quality of the product.
