Basilico one year later. This is easily the best upscale restaurant off strip. The chef is innovative and experimental, cranking out a new menu seasonally. But even more exciting are the tastings built for holidays. Both their Christmas tasting and New Years tasting (pictured) are some of the best dishes I've consumed here in Vegas. This is a true off-strip sleeper. A place where you can go for a drink at happy hour and a reasonable portion of food. Anthony is a mixological mastermind behind the bar, innovating new cocktails that rotate just like the menu. The luce spente is an easy favorite, but the pick was a solid seasonal drink to start before your food comes. Not to mention a solid wine list to pair with your meal. Or of course, it makes a solid date spot for upscale dining, cool classy ambiance, and occasional live music both in and outdoor depending on the season. As a local, this is the place I bring friends or family or dates for the wow factor. But truly, we keep coming back for the people there. The chef is an innovator who takes pride in his food and appreciates his consumers. Anthony is constantly innovating behind the bar and lures us in for the newest infusion and experimentation. The owners we were fortunate enough to meet on more than one occasion and are always inviting and passionate.Do yourself a favor and just stop by at happy hour and try not to be surprised you stayed till closing.

We came here for an evening dinner reservation mid-week. When arriving to the plaza, be sure to drive all the way around the back to ensure that there is parking closer to the restaurant or do as I did and park closer to Lemon Tree to have a bit longer walk to and fro your vehicle. The interior and ambience is dark, moody and classy. They have a beautiful display as you enter and throughout the restaurant - a projector wall playing old black & white classic clips, wine bottles on display and unique textures throughout (tiling on support pillars, wood paneling on ceiling, marble countertops at the bar and plush leather like seats). Although the design was sophisticated and classy, the music played didn't quite match that vibe. It was more of a 2000s pop hits playlist of some sort. As for the food, the server noted that some seasonal additions were just added and he hadn't tried all the dishes but offered a few recommendations. For drinks, we got the fiore di fiamma: a more fruity and tart drink served in an awfully tall glass and giardino: a cucumber and basil heavy gin drink. We started with the bread service. This came with four different types of breads - really fun display and tastes great when paired with the sundried tomato (?) whipped ricotta and chocolate topped butter. The focaccia and woven pretzel like crunchy one were our favorites. We also ordered the red beet salad and smoked cigar to try. The beets looked and tasted as advertised - nothing too special about it..beet chunks, thin carrot slices, blackberries, a prosciutto and a vinaigrette. The smoked cigar lived up to it's hype. It's brought to the table in a wood box that when opened smoke pillows out of. If you love duck in a crunchy fried pastry texture (think fancy flauta) with some truffle "ash", definitely try it! I think they'd do great if they made a variation of this but a sweet version. I'd probably skip this if we came back another time. For our entrees, we shared two pastas - the chestnut maltagliati and the ??? - and two main courses - the vitello parmigiana (veal parmesan) and short ribs. Both pastas had a mild flavor. The chestnut maltagliati was a bit sweeter with the hazelnut and spiced flavors coming through and little lentis topped across. The ???, well if I'm being honest I don't remember much about this pasta except that it was slightly more savory than the other. The portion of both the veal and short ribs were far bigger than expected. The flavors of the veal and breading/toppings combined didn't quite do it for me. The short ribs were very tender and had good flavor. The chestnut maltagliati was my favorite main dish. For dessert we tried the cannolo as it was described as a more traditional cannoli. It looked amazing and tasted unique! The almond sorbet underneath was a bit overpowering in flavor when paired with the cardamom blood orange sauce but it was still worth trying. Although we didn't love most of what we ordered, the attention to detail, plating and care in the product/service they provide was apparent. Perhaps the flavors and pairings here don't quite fit our palette. From other reviews, you can tell that many people enjoy this spot so you never know, it could be a good spot for you!

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. I love the beautiful ambiance and their playlist. They even have live music on some days. We tried pizza, short ribs and gnocchi, everything was delicious. For dessert we tried this unique cannoli which was out of this world. Our server was friendly and efficient.I wish they would serve house bread, that's a standard at any good Italian restaurant. Their bread was $13. Also they serve soda by the can, so you gotta pay for refills.

Basilico Ristorante in Vegas is a solid spot if you're into modern Italian with a creative twist. The foie gras custard was super smooth and rich, with just the right amount of sweetness from the fig jam. The sea bass (branzino) was cooked perfectly--crispy skin, tender inside, and the porcini mushrooms and fig jus added great depth. The risotto was creamy and flavorful, especially with the veal sweetbread and Marsala jus. The vibe is upscale but not stuffy, with live music adding a nice touch. Service was friendly and attentive, I told them I had a show waiting at the strip and they made it happen quickly for our dinner. Definitely worth a visit!
