Menu choices are fabulous. Helpings Cafe Chef has done a phenomenal job with the menu & the food. Everything I've tried was delicious. Can't wait to see what the Spring menu has to offer.

Spent a few hours here waiting for a friend at the airport. The breakfast burritos were delicious with great salsa and the iced latte was perfect. Staff was very welcoming. Great mission. The only downside was there is no Wi-Fi so I used my hotspot. Plenty of space to meet if you have a group.

I found this gem on yelp when researching for my vacation trip to Phoenix. I parked on their large but busy parking lot. The place is really spacious inside with lots of seating. Staff is very friendly. The interior is really cool, it has some diner style chairs and tables with all kinds of chairs. It is simple with a fifteen accent to it.I had a hard time picking from the menu as everything looks good. I chose the turkey club sandwich ($7.99) and a wild cherry cranberry smoothie. I was very tempted to get one of their Starbucks drinks but opted for the healthier choice. Besides the specialty coffees and smoothies there's also a ton of sodas, plenty of options here! While waiting I am mouth watering over the display of muffins, sandwiches, spinach dip and cheesecake. I am hoping I have some space left after my food. The place is very busy (it's 9.30am) and there's a little wait for my sandwich and fruit smoothie to come out. The wild cherry cranberry smoothie tastes exactly as the name. It's delicious however more a juice than a smoothie. I have no clue why I ordered the turkey sandwich as it has ham and bacon (which I don't eat). After eating half the sandwich which is ok (I was hoping to get the dark bread as someone else on yelp posted). I buy a cookie ($2) on the way out and it's so good: still warm from the oven, crispy on the outside and doughy in the middle. Great spot, especially on a budget! Come by and help out families with your purchase!

The avocado toast is delicious! This cafe has delicious coffee and baked goods AND a fun selection of breakfast and lunch options. So yummy! The best part is that you are literally making a difference in our community when you chose to eat here as all profits go toward ending family homelessness! 10/10 recommend!

Good heavens! Does Phoenix need more places like this or what? Helpings Cafe is amazing! It is a training cafe for low income or homeless parents to become Baristas or cooks/chefs. They train low income, abused women, and or homeless parents who live next door at the shelter or use the day center program attached. It is possible Starbucks helps with this program. The woman behind the counter said they donate the coffee. So if you live near 33rd St and Van Buren go to Helpings for your Starbucks fix. Such a win/win situation. The cafe also have a small menu of light bites types of items, sandwiches, and burgers. Today I finally got here. I ordered the Avocado Toast which was great! I also ordered their homemade chili style chips. Those were super, super yummy. The prices are also very good! The cafe also has a small concession type of area that sells snacks and T-shirts. I love the old school, Coca-Cola cooler the shirts are stored in. I bought A "Kind" Bar for the road. Well, of course I did. So fitting. I would strongly suggest a visit. If I lived on this side of town Helpings Cafe and Joybus Diner would be the only two places I would eat at now. Happy New Year to eating for a cause.

First off, I love the mission of this place. It's hard not to be a fan of any restaurant that helps the homeless (like Philadelphia's Rooster Soup Company) or someone who needs a break. I stopped in on my way to a conference downtown. It's a comfortable, welcoming environment, filled with welcoming people (they were pulling muffins out of the oven when I arrived). I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which had egg, bacon and cheese. It was a good sandwich, though if I'm being honest it could have used just a little more salt and maybe some sort of aioli or something to give it that extra flavor punch (and moisture). In any case, the price was very fair. I'd certainly come back and try their pastries or order a drink, and I'm happy that my money is doing some good for someone else.

What a delightful place. It's a happy space with great service. Food is homemade and tasty. Full line of Starbucks drinks for your morning coffee stop. Best part is their training program helps people learn a skill and get a job, and proceeds go to UMOMs services.

Delicious food, hefty portions, friendly staff, Starbucks coffee, and giving back. I would definitely recommend helping yourself to a Helpings lunch! My lunch was so fresh and yummy plus I had to take half of it home. My food and coffee were prepared by workers in the food prep and barista program who are gaining employment skills. It's a nonprofit so all proceeds go to the homeless shelter connected to the restaurant. All around great experience for me and my tummy!

I had no idea this was here. and the word needs to get out to everyone to come! This is a great cause. Great food that helps the homeless, yes please! I had a grilled cheese and fries and iced black tea and it was all great and reasonable. We had a large party of 12 and service was fast and really friendly. Everyone's food looked great and they got us served in no time. I will be stopping here soon to try some muffins for breakfast as well. They look yummy. Not often you find something that both helps others and gives you a great lunch, a great 2 for!

Such a good idea for a cafe - offering job skills, training, and opportunities while providing tasty coffee. I ordered 4 large to-go containers of coffee for a work event, they included ice, cups, sugar packets etc. Everything was ready at my set time for pick up. Would definitely order from here again.
