This restaurant was a bit disappointing considering all the high reviews. The staff was great and the restaurants design looks nice also. However the food was what was disappointing. We ordered the ropa veja and the lemon chicken breast. The chicken was really thin and a bit dry with not much flavoring for the price. The white rice was decent and the beans were good. I felt the plantain was undercooked a tiny bit. The ropa veja was okay, it wasn't the best I've had. I probably wouldn't get it again. The congri rice was really dry and I didn't like the flavor of theirs. Overall I give the food 6.5/10. I think for the price the food was very underwhelming. I probably won't be back for the food but maybe I'll come back to try the desserts.

I just walked out. I was really looking forward to eating here, since the menu looked good.But I walked in, there were maybe 3 ppl ahead of me in line to order. 4 staff members, one (douchey) looking dude in a straw hat and 3 other ppl doing various random things. One couldn't open a wine bottle. One sorting cutlery. One pacing around. All with backs facing us waiting in line to order. Another staff member walked through the front door, and straw hat hit immediately, with a big plastic smile, walks from behind the counter to the door to dap up the co worker that came in and they shake, hug, start chatting, laughing. We're all in line staring at them. I don't know if they honestly know they're supposed to take orders from us? It's been fifteen minutes standing there and no one has ordered, and strangely enough no staff have even acknowledged anyone's existence in line, they still have all their backs to us. I ask the two ladies in front of me, do they even know we're waiting? They're not sure either.I've had enough and I leave.

We enjoy Cuban food and when we saw Havana Grill, we knew we had to give it a try! As you enter the restaurant, you go to the counter to order your menu items. There's a large menu above. There is plates, appetizers, and drinks. You pay there, then get seated. We ordered the Vaca Frita and the Lechon plates. We also ordered the Sampler Platter which consisted of the Empanada, papa rellena, sweet plantains, yuca fries, tostones, and plantain chips. The restaurant is very hip and upbeat. Very nice decor and clean. Overall, a nice place to share a meal with family and friends.

This place was fantastic! The ambiance was fun and lively, with background music that wasn't too loud, allowing for easy conversation. The food was incredible--I ordered the classic sandwich with fries and an empanada, both bursting with flavor. The service was excellent as well; I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in, which made me feel welcome.

For our monthly team lunch Havana Grill was chosen. Pineapple soda has a sweet pineapple flavor. Loved it.Beef empanada had a crunchy exterior and the inside was filled with tender ground beef that was marinated with Cuban spices. This is one of my favorite empanadas in town.Oxtail was tender and the sauce was rich with delicious Cuban flavors. My favorite oxtail in town.Fries were crispy with I loved the fried flavor.Service was quick and friendly. Havana Grill is my favorite Cuban restaurant in San Diego.

AMAZING crazy cubano!! I ordered on ubereats and picked up kinda late and got back home pretty late and everything was cold but oh my god, it was all still SO good. I can only imagine if I was eating there when it's piping hot. Flan and croquettes were AMAZING too. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. When I first walked in, the smell was AMAZING. I just wanted to stay and dine in but I could not. But I definitely will next time!!!!!!

This restaurant was very good. Visited on a Friday evening, it has a walk up flow. Upon entering you go straight to the line and order from menu, afterwards you find a seat.It got very busy, quickly, we chose an early dinner time. The inside is smaller yet intimate, with outside seating available.First time eating Cuban, so we chose the sampler, empanada, and ordered two Cubano's. Everything was really flavorful and tasted amazing. The plantain chips that came with the Cubano were really crunchy and thin, and can we talk about the YUCCA fries! Omg these things are amazing! Can't wait to visit again.It's a great date night option and our service was really good.

You know it's not Cuban when you have to order and tip at the counter, us Latinos would never offer that bottom line level of service. Then the congri is always so sad looking and mushy, at both locations. The meat is always overly salty and hella small portions for the price of the dish. It's just a bad business practice to have to go back to the counter, if you decide that you want a cocktail or dessert.
