While we've kept in touch, my best friend/college roommate and I hadn't seen each other in years. We suffered through 4 years of French class, saw each other crush and then held each other after the breakup. We watched our high school football team lose and our beloved Nittany Lions win. We went to each other's wedding. Then boom, marriage, raising children, demanding jobs, elder care and suddenly it's 30 years later. We met up in Nashville for a long talked about weekend of exploring and catching up. Not a lot of alcohol, lots of music, copious amounts of food and lots and lots and lots of talking.Coming from Ohio, I wanted her to experience all of Nashville. Unfortunately she got to experience her first hurricane too. That didn't stop us though. I wouldn't dare let her visit Nashville and not try the hot chicken. Of course I wouldn't think of introducing her anywhere but Hattie B's. We expected the usual line but I guess because of the downpour it didn't even take us 10 minutes to get through the line to the counter to order.I ordered the 3 tender plate with slaw and mac and cheese. I know better so I ordered mine mild. I had so much food left that I had lunch for two more days. I also bought a cobbler to go. Instead of eating it that evening, it spent two days in the hotel fridge - I know the cobbler had been good fresh, 3 day old cobbler was barely just edible. My mild mannered midwestern friend "chickened" out and ordered the chicken sandwich, southern style. While I and everyone I know loves HB chicken, my friend didn't think it was anything special. For her side, I refused to let her get anything but the mac n cheese. (We grew up in the north, where mac n cheese either came out of a box or mom mixed some noodles with velveeta if she were getting fancy.) My friend had never had true southern M&C. Although Hattie B's is actually made with pimento cheese, it is a worthy contender on the table at the county fair. It's one of my favorites. So here we are, a transplant to the South says Hattie B's can do nothing wrong to the northerner's "meh, give me chick-fil-a". I'm sticking with my 5 star review.

I recently visited Hattie B's Hot Chicken in Nashville, and while it's still a decent spot, it's definitely not the same as it was five years ago. It feels like the flavors and spice selection have been toned down a bit. I ordered the Medium heat level, which used to have a good kick to it, but this time it felt more like a Mild with almost no seasoning. It's still tasty, but I couldn't help but feel like something was missing compared to my past visits. The chicken itself is still well-cooked and crispy, and the sides like the Pimento Mac & Cheese and Southern Greens were great, but overall, the experience didn't quite live up to the Hattie B's I remember from years ago.If you're a first-timer, you'll probably still enjoy it, but if you're coming back after a few years, don't be surprised if the spice doesn't hit like it used to. I'm hoping they bring back the bold flavors and spice levels that made them so popular in the first place!

Some good and some bad. Visiting from Hawaii, you visit the places that people say are good. The good: the chicken is crispy and was easy to eat with the two sauces. There is a big difference between "medium" and "hot." Having average heat tolerance, the medium was not spicy and the hot was too spicy. The best item was the fried pickles which was satisfying. The bad: the chicken on the sandwich was dry, so didn't eat it. The peach cobbler tastes like it came from a can and had a chemical/ unpleasant after taste. The bacon cheese grits tastes like mashed potatoes because there's so much cheese and butter. Definitely would avoid some items on the menu next time.

The food here is delicious. The sandwich had good flavor and was good. The small dark was even better since it was dark meat. The sandwich was white meat and not as juicy as the darkBased on reviews here we got medium and hot. The hot was spicy but very doable. I would say a level above flamin hot cheetos. The medium was about the level of popeyes spicy chicken. I think next time we will go up one level of spice

Unforgettable Fried Chicken at Hattie B's!Hattie B's served up some of the best fried chicken I've ever had, leaving a lasting impression with every bite.Food: 5/5The fried chicken was simply amazing--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Each bite was a perfect combination of crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. What really elevated the meal was the bread underneath the chicken, which absorbed all the concentrated, savory juices, making every bite even more satisfying.Service: 5/5The service was great, with friendly and efficient staff ensuring everything arrived quickly and hot. They added to the overall great experience, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of.Ambiance: 5/5Hattie B's had a casual and laid-back vibe, perfect for enjoying comfort food. Listen skip the Mac and cheese, and tenders and get the HOT dark meat because this was good!I'm originally from Maryland and we have a couple of hot chicken spots such as Dave's hot chicken angry joes etc so of course I had to try hot chicken in Nashville. I ordered the small dark meal which for $10 is a great deal. It came with a quarter bird thigh and leg and two sides. The greens were good just not seasoned enough. And the Mac and cheese was straight up bad. The chicken on the other hand was juicy flavorful and crispy. The comeback sauce didn't make me comeback It was a bit too mayo and sweet for my liking. But with honey, yes!I definitely enjoyed my late night snack

We stopped by Hattie B's in Nashville and ordered the chicken sandwich and tenders, both at the "hot" heat level. We really enjoyed the food, and the spice level was perfect--though next time, I'll probably try the next highest heat for a bit more kick. We also ordered the slaw and bacon cheese grits as our sides which were solid. While the chicken was delicious, it's not exactly groundbreaking when it comes to hot chicken. I still prefer Howlin' Ray's and Dave's Hot Chicken overall, but Hattie B's was definitely solid. They also had some cool merch, and the service was impressively fast.Overall, a great experience--4.3 out of 5!

When in Nashville you must try Hot Nashville Chicken. I went with "mild" but probably should have tried something spicier like medium! You order first and then find a table to sit at and they bring the food out. Everyone who worked here was very nice and helpful. I recommend!

The famous Hattie B's. As expected; a high tourist attraction area, this location had a line. The chicken is DEFINITELY worth the wait. (this particular day it was pouring raining we did have an umbrella but that didn't slow anything down, the line still wrapped around the building) My partner & I were lucky enough to jump in line around lunchtime (12:30) and stood in line about 20 mins to order. I do suggest that once you make it inside look at the menu to help speed up the line. Seating is limited but offers in & outdoor, and first come first serve. It is important that you try to snag a table beforehand if possible while someone else is ordering. The Food: We ordered the "hot" 3 tenders and added 2 wings with fries & collards for sides and added the fried pickles. Fried Pickles: we're from Georgia and Zaxby's had better fried pickles (that's saying something). These were seasoned well but over cooked. Hot tenders & wings: we absolutely love spice and could have gone down one more to the "damn hot" spice. (Note: these are pre-dipped in the mild, hot, damn hot batter then fried not a seasoning) which I personally loved even better. The tenders were cooked to perfection! Juicy inside but crispy, crunchy outside HIGHLY recommend. French Fries: were your crinkle cut and were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend these as well. Collard Greens: this was a HUGE disappointment. They were cooked very well, but were not seasoned. I expected moreWhile here we experienced a drunk woman walk into the restaurant and used the trash cans in the corner of the establishment to throw up from drinking too much on Broadway. I understand Nashville is a place to come and let loose however, I wish the establishment did more to get her out of the building. You had paying customers whom are EATING and although they provided her with water and food they could have done a better & faster job at getting her out. Overall: I recommend this restaurant!!

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because our order was 20 minutes late. I had the chicken sandwich in mild and it was delicious. It had just enough spice for me. It was juicy and hot. The fries are nothing to write home about. Also got fried pickles which were ok, but the star was the sandwich!!!
