Costco was closed, so I was looking for a place that sold prime ribeye steaks that was open on Memorial Day and a friend recommended Harvest Ranch. Obviously not inexpensive at $39.99 per lb. To be very honest prime is prime, so I'll get my prime ribeye at Costco, a lot less expensive at $15.99 per lb.! They have a big selection of different kind of shish kebabs! My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of food items they have. A nice bakery with a lot of different types of individual size cake deserts. We bought two different kind of cheese cakes deserts and I will have to say we were disappointed. They were dried out and kind of hard to put a fork into it.

We recently moved back after being gone awhile. HR was always our favorite store. What happened? The employees were rude, the quality of the meat our Tri Tip we bought was bad. The deli everything looked old. I asked our neighbors hoping we were wrong, unfortunately most told us we were right. Sadly we won't return!!

So happy to have found Harvest, a very popular spot seemingly for its deli and butcher shop. Whether you are having a house party, making a romantic dinner or want some prepared meals, this is your place to go. The market has so much to offer: a fresh squeezed orange juice machine on site; dozens of different types of dessert options, to include chocolate cake slices, cheesecake, brownies, madeleines, lemon cupcakes, macaroons; a decent wine selections, with some good options from the Sonoma and Napa areas; lots of pasta along with sauces and sides for some reason; a fresh vegetables section with the most beautiful selection and range of mushrooms, along with peaches and plump oranges; and even flower bouquets. First order of business: Prices compared with your local grocer are very steep all around. But it's the quality and excellent service you came for. A bit of background: Harvest has two locations -- one in El Cajon and the other in Encinitas. I have only been to the south county location, which is relatively small but packed full of glorious things. In the butcher section, you will find prime and choice beef selections. The prime ribeyes are the best I have ever purchases from a market, and I have been cooking my steaks (ribeyes mostly, but also New York back in the day and T-bones as well as tomahawks in recent years). On the grocery market, it is hard -- I mean, so hard -- to find a nice, good ribeye with a decent sized cap and good marbling. That makes it easy to cut down on the amount of steak I cook at home. But the second I saw these steaks, I was like, "Uh oh...". They also have a couple of dozen kabobs. My absolute favorite is the salmon kabob, which has a lemon citrus sauce. Serve that over a bed of white rice -- *kisses fingertips*. That's the good stuff! Elsewhere in the meat section, they have pollo asada, marinated chickens, chicken Cordon Bleu, veal, lamb and several types of sausages, including brats. In the seafood section, they generally have salmon, seabass, halibut, tilapia, shrimps, ceviche (a couple of options there) and scallops. You can find halibut as well along with swordfish. For prepared meals, get ready for the long list: various types of egg and chorizo breakfast burritos, soups include chili and chicken noodle soup; cobb, kale, and Caesar salads are on the menu; they have turkey, pastrami, Reuben and BLT sandwiches (I think I also saw a Cubano); chicken wings; dip platters and wing platters, meatballs; I mean, the list is nearly endless. And the staff is amazing. A-plus all around. I have been three times in two weeks and cannot way for my next visit.

I used to eat sandwiches here pretty regularly. Recently placed an Uber eats order for a tri tip sandwich. The meat was super weird ! It was old it smelled bad, kinda like when you just leave something in a fridge and forget about it. The chips is came with was a tiny bag and they were pretty pathetic looking. I also got a soup and the container was barley filled all the way. It was an expensively disappointing meal to say the least. Wouldn't order from here again.

Work provided lunch again from Harvest Ranch Market. This time I ordered the Cobb salad. It was in interesting Cobb. Rather than bacon it contained chopped turkey and ham. It included a hard boiled egg and cherry tomatoes, but no avocado. Also missing from my idea of a Cobb salad were crumbled bleu cheese and sliced mushrooms. An odd twist that I very much did enjoy was the squares of fresh Parmesan cheese, in fact I would have enjoyed a few more. They kinda' chinced out on 'em.I requested bleu cheese dressing and as happens to me quite often, regardless of where I'm ordering food from, they sent ranch. I'm beginning to think that all east county delis and restaurants are conspiring against me, depriving me of my bleu cheese.

The food quality is great but they are constantly 30-40% more expensive than anyone else. You are really paying for an upscale market so warn your wallet before going there to buy. On a side note: fantastic BBQ on the weekends. The grill master is outside in the parking lot all day smoking tri tip and baby back ribs. Really tasty!

A great gourmet store, I have been coming here for many years.First off, their tortilla chips and salsa are the absolute best!Second, they have the best meat that I have found anywhere in East County. Even still, I have gotten so-so fish there and all of those kabobs on display, how can they be fresh?Third, The produce isn't all that. You really have to be careful but it's not all that fresh and is bordering on old.Fourth, the hot food counter has some interesting items that are great when you don't want to cook. And last, the people there are very friendly and helpful. Yes, they get busy sometimes and they are human so not always perfect but who is.You just have to pay attention. The best meat around and they tell you how to cook it if you are a novice.

Bought ribs from hot case completely flavorless.Artesano bread expired with mold Produce looks like it's been sitting not fresh for the price. Store way over priced and items due expired brought up items to the cashier and she answered with yes a lot of the items are sitting there expired but manager refuses to take them off shelves. Don't buy from here if they don't want to keep fresh items for the price they want to bargain for!!
