The "famous" hashbrowns were quite good ... and I don't like hashbrowns.
two glasses of orange juice
two plates of food on a table
I added some of my Smuckers Boysenberry syrup and it was on hit!
This is the front entrance of Harry's Coffee Shop; there's plenty of seating for for customers, while they wait for seats.

We took our out of town family members to Harry's Coffee Shop for BREAKFAST, and it was wonderful. When we were approached for seating, I asked for their largest table for four persons. We were given the large table upfront. It was very nice of them to do that for us!!!We were also greeted by one of the owners, himself; a very friendly gentleman. We swapped stories about time spent in Utah.We sat down and relaxed in the air conditioning, and reviewed the menu. First, we ordered drinks.I ordered a Diet Coke and a Mimosa, and my partner ordered a Specialty Coffee, and my Sister in Law ordered a Specialty Coffee and a Mimosa, and my Niece ordered a Juice and Chocolate Milk. After a few minutes, someone came by to take our order.l ordered the SUPERFECTA WITH PANCAKES, and my partner ordered the CALIFORNIA CARNE ASADA BURRITO, and my Sister in Law ordered the SUPERFECTA, and my Niece ordered the STRAWBERRY/BANNANA OREO COOKIE FRENCH TOAST.We were there for a little while, PROBABLY OVER ONE HOUR.It was an awesome experience, thanks to our female server, ANDY. She was completely courteous and thoughtful, speaking Spanish to our two Spanish-Speaking guests.

So happy I got to take a friend to check this place out today. Literally a national treasure She loved her tuna melt & I loved my traditional beni and the most perfect yummiest latte in the world. Grew up in SD & my favorite thing was to have brunch on Sundays either at The Spice Rack, Bustamantes or Harry's. Food was delicious & everyone was so sweet. Miss coming here on the regular so now I'm going make that happen

Great breakfast spot. We were fortunate to walk in and get seated right away, as I heard this place can get busy.I had the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, and everything was delicious. I especially appreciated that you could choose a pancake instead of toast. A pancake is basically a breakfast dessert--much better than toast!I would recommend this place and will definitely return.

Greek Omelette egg portion was a too overcooked and brownish. Took 1 star away because of doneness. Country Fried Steak, medium eggs, English muffin and crispy hash browns done just right. Good and attentive service on a busy Sunday. Good strong coffee. Give you a good potion of food to leave full and happy. Great stop right after church and Goodwill stop. Expect to wait a little on a Sunday and during this time of year with all the vacationers. Classic counter diner experience that usually has seating available without the wait.

Harry's was exactly what we were craving and expecting. Come here for a solid old-school American breakfast. We appreciated the 50's theme and loved how this restaurant has been here since 1960. The service was friendly and good, although sometimes it took some effort to get their attention but I think they just wanted to give us privacy. I love the thick and crispy bacon. In fact, everything we had was solid, filling, and made us happy and full. They even offered me a large paper cup of coffee to take with me to go, which was perfect for my drive back to LA. Eat here and support a small local business in La Jolla that has been in business longer than most of us have been alive!

Harry's Coffee Shop in La Jolla is like a delightful time capsule that brings the 1960s right to your table. Walking in, you half expect to see a jukebox in the corner and folks in poodle skirts--it's that authentically retro. The food is delicious, the coffee is divine, and their Bloody Marys? Let's just say they pack enough spicy punch to wake up a sleepy surfer.Sure, the prices are a bit on the high side, but let's be real--what isn't these days? Blame it on inflation, but at least here you're getting a quality experience that's worth every penny. If you're in the mood for a tasty trip down memory lane, Harry's Coffee Shop is your go-to spot. Highly recommended for a groovy good time!

Me to my daughter: "Look at this place! It's pure Main Street Americana. Bustling breakfast joint. Coffee pouring freely. All them truckers lined up at the counter fueling up for their long hauls."Daughter: "Dad, we're in La Jolla."Me: "Cyber-Trucks?"Okay not exactly on Route 66 but it did inspire some of the same images. Harry's is definitely a bustling joint. We were worried we wouldn't get in but the wait wasn't too long and the food was worth it. Huge tasty portions along with fast cheerful service. We ordered:BW BennyLa Jolla ScrambleCarne Asada Breakfast Burrito Corn Beef Hash and eggsLet's be honest. If it were just food alone, this would not be 5 stars more like 4. Would this Carne asada breakfast burrito stand up to a South Bay taco shop? Unlikely. The Corned Beef Hash looks like Libby's from a can. Is that bad? No. Grew up on that. I did enjoy really my BW Benny a lot. Not a crumb left of that waffle. It's just such a good vibe when you're at Harry'swith super friendly service and fun active atmosphere that pays special tribute to SD. Definitely worth a return visit!

Classic diner vibes and a no frills menu, Harry's Coffee Shop is one of those old school spots that takes you back in time. We went on a Saturday morning around 10 and only had to wait about 10 minutes (granted it was raining). Inside is a cozy ambiance with old school memorabilia posted around. I really enjoyed both the BW Benny and the Chicken Fried Steak (on a thin waffle). The chicken wasn't too thick and was cooked well. I really liked the gravy on top too. Overall if you are looking for that diner atmosphere then Harry's is a cool place to check out. The food was overall great but nothing special. There's going to be something on the menu for everyone.

We didn't know this existed until our son who lives in Arizona told us about it. So my husband and i went. I love the old, family style restaurant and i can feel the nostalgia through the pictures on the walls featuring Frank Sinatra et al. The servers were very attentive and always asked to refill our coffee which is a real plus for my wife. The food? So good and tasty. Taste just right and more! This place will be our brunch place from now on!
