Harney Sushi

AMAZING FOODI've been going to harney for years now and omg I cannot recommend this place more than I already do!! Beautiful ambiance and service and topped with the most amazing rolls and food. My go to rolls are always the osider roll, rolls Royce and the BEST ceviche ever. Sometimes I go back strictly for the ceviche because it's just that good. You walk into the place and service is just over the top and they're super fast with their food as well and you can just tell they use the best quality fish, it's always fresh and never disappoints.

It took over 20 minutes for our reserved table to be ready because we "didn't want to sit outside." The hostess was chewing her gum the whole time she spoke to us which I think is gross and rude. We didn't reserve a patio table. It's extremely inauthentic, only Sapporo on tap and the menu was lacking in variety. Many of the rolls have the same ingredients with just a few changes, they didn't have much selection of fresh rolls (almost all of them had some sort of tempura in it), they had ONE menu item for kids, and no tamago!!!! It's usually a standard. The tables are way too freaking small for multiple plates of sushi, the personal plates, the soy sauce bottle, the soy sauce dishes, the carafe of water they leave at the table, the fake candle and the fake flower vase. Take that crap off the table. Overpriced considering you don't get miso, salad or edamame. The food was tasty and relatively quick. Our server was amazing! Thank you for making our experience a little better.All in all I cannot understand why this place is busy.

So happy we stumbled upon this sushi spot while exploring Old Town San Diego. With its sleek and stylish decor and dimmed lighting, it provides a great setting for a relaxing sushi experience. We had the rainbow roll and the dragon roll, which were both fresh, delicious and visually appealing. The restaurant was quite busy at the time, so we were seated near the entrance, which was understandably a bit noisy, but not too bad overall. The service was friendly nonetheless. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu!

It was closing in on 9PM and we were running out of food options in the area and we wanted to continue walking around, so we turned to Yelp and figured it was time to give sushi a try in San Diego. This little sushi spot had some great date night vibes and even though the menu wasn't massive, it had some solid sushi options as well as drinks, appetizers, and other entrees. I wasn't starving to death, but I really wanted some rolls so I decided to order the Maui Wowie (shrimp tempura, krab, top of albacore, avocado) as well as a California roll just in case one wasn't enough. The place wasn't slammed at this point, but the service was extra slow (which I don't actually care about) but I felt a little guilty because even though we arrived an hour before closing, it took so long for them to take our order that we were soon down to twenty minutes or so once the food was actually served. I ate both rolls as quickly as I could and the most I can say is "meh". The sushi wasn't bad, but it tasted kinda bland and kind of just tasted like sushi you would get at an asian style buffet.Overall, Harney Sushi was decent, but nothing beyond that. This place is in a great location, but the food quality was subpar and the lack of service wasn't great. My main issue was that they sat us at the bar when we came in, but didn't actually clean it off for 20 minutes or so so we just kind of sat there, I don't know, It would take a lot for me to actually return.

Second time coming here and not disappointed. We had a reservation at 430 but we were a little early and chose to be seated at the bar. It's happy hour everyday 4-6pm. We ordered shishito peppers, oysters, muscles, javiers yellowtail ceviche, spicy yellow tail roll, nigiri sampler on happy hour and Ama ebi. All meltIn your mouth and half the items were priced for happy hour. Would recommend. Our bartender was Jahir, he cut jalapenos fresh for us !

Made a reservation for 3 for 7pm. Got there and the server was like ... give us 5-10 minutes (defeats purpose reservation but ok. We waited.). 2 minutes later ... table is ready. Approach wasn't friendly and a simple ... let us get your table ready would have fine (even taking the 10 min). We've also been here before so maybe we expected friendlier or more customer service. I dunno. Waiter was nice. Took a little long to take our order but we weren't in a hurry. So we were ok to wait. Oysters were on point. Spicy garlic edamame were too creamy. Not our favorite. Sushi was good. Fresh. Drinks were delicious too. Overall went well. Place is nice, clean and quiet.

What a neat place. Quite intimate. Trendy decor. Food was incredible and prices were very reasonable. Great bar. Roberto was a great barkeep. Seriously good place. Go find it as its well worth the trip.

DELISH! Was exploring old town and wanted something other than Mexican. Harney was able to get us a table for two right away, even though they were pretty busy for a Tuesday night. They offer a Yelp check-in deal for a free Shishito Pepper appetizer, which I highly recommend ordering. It's super tasty. They have a great cocktail menu. I opted for the Pomegranate Paloma. We split a Rainbow Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. So good. The food and drinks were great. Service was excellent. Our whole experience was awesome. I definitely recommend this spot! It's really inviting inside with tables or bar seating.

My family and I were visiting SD and Harney's was recommended as a place to go for rolls. We were a 7-top and was able to be seated immediately, which was great. For being a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty dead but it was also the Saturday before Easter so we probably lucked out. Our server was prompt with bringing out our drinks and was patient while taking our order. The table ordered a couple of ramen bowls and beef fried rice plates. For sushi rolls, we ordered the Culichi Wa Roll, Mellow Yellow, and Pirate roll. All three were amazing and fresh but the Culichi Wa was so good that we ordered another one! For dessert, we shared a few plates of mochi which they offered a handful of flavors. If you're ever in Old Town and looking for a quick sushi spot instead of Mexican food, this is the place to go. Plus, they were playing some 2000s hip-hop / R&B so that was just an extra points with us.

food was so amazing such a loud and vivid experience with wonderful music and good vibes. everybody there seems to be having a good time and the sushi bar was such a good time chatting it up with the chefs who knew what they were doing great please and service is quick even with their full house
