Garlic shrimp and garlic chicken combo plate. The shrimp are ginormous! So tasty and the macaroni salad was delicious.
Entrance to Hapa. Counter and kitchen on right as you enter, seating on the left.
Garlic chicken came with rice and macaroni salad- the best in town. And their Malasadas are so finger-licking good! Will spread the word!

We were so excited to try Hapa foods. The garlic chicken and garlic shrimp was sooo good. We love that they have 2 big scoops of rice! Most only give one small scoop. The Kalua pork was good but just a tad bit on the salty side. The malasadas are a must if you go!! So delicious. The lady who took our order was so sweet and friendly! And I loved the soft colors and beautiful paintings! We'll be back to try the sorbet and guava cake!!

In the small town of Mesa, Arizona, we stumbled upon a slice of Hawaiian paradise that embodies the friendly and loving Ohana spirit. It's a little taste of Hawaii right here in the desert. The food transported us back to Giovanny's truck in Honolulu with every bite. From the immaculate ribs to the flavorful chicken and garlic rice, each dish was a testament to culinary excellence. However, the Portuguese malasadas fell short, with uneven and rushed preparation, leaving a messy finish. Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic - a welcoming environment filled with lovely people. If you're craving a touch of Hawaiian flavor and warmth in Mesa, this is the spot to visit for a memorable dining experience.

TL;DR: Come for the malasadas, special pastries, and proteins. Make your own rice at home. Be prepared to wait if you don't call your order in ahead. This has been a go-to spot when I need a plate lunch fix. Fairly limited menu but they do it well, albeit slowly (minus half a star). I've had times where I waited up to 45 minutes after ordering to get my food. Everything from the garlic chicken, to garlic shrimp, and the secret menu / specials (follow their IG) are always on point. Mac salad is tasty, my only critique is the rice is terrible and they always put the sauce on the rice which makes it too soggy (minus half a star). Pastries are great. Malasadas wouldn't crack the top 10 in Hawaii but they are #1 here. Snow puffies are very tasty.

What a great Hawaiian restaurant! The Garlic Chicken was absolutely delicious and the Kalbi meat comes right off the bone. A generous amount of food for the price that you pay. Would give it 5 stars but I wasn't a fan of the mac salad, definitely a different taste than what I've had in the past. I live about 40 minutes away from Hapa and I'd 100% drive back to eat here again. Highly recommend!

We could not make it to our original 4th of July plans, so the next best thing is Hawaiian Plate lunch! I absolutely love this place. The food is consistent in quality and taste! My husband placed an order for me to pick up, and it was ready and packaged! Because of the holiday, they had their hours updated on their Instagram. Their garlic chicken recipe is so, so good, and if you order anything at all, it must be this! Our 'Murica dinner was garlic chicken, kalbi, and garlic shrimp, and poke nachos. The poke nachos is fantastic. It's just poke over deep friend wanton chips, and it's great! If you have not been, you simply must go. Their instagram also have specials on certain days, which is worth following for!Happy 4th, y'all!

This is one of the best places I've had Hawaiian barbecue at! This is a little hole in the wall, but was completely packed! You order at the counter and it takes about 20 minutes to get your food. Each item e got was cooked to order and delicious. The poke nacho were flavorful and I couldn't get over the wonton chips and spicy mayo. Both plates were absolutely delicious, there is a lot of garlic on the shrimp, beware! But I love garlic so it was perfect. The portions are huge, we didn't finish even one of the meals we got. This is a great place!

My wife found this place and wanted to try it for lunch. When we were on the Big Island we found a food truck that had the most amazing poke nachos. Seeing that Hapa also had poke nachos we knew right away that we had to try them. We ended up ordering the poke nachos, Kalbi ribs, garlic chicken and garlic shrimp. The nachos were really good. The fried wontons were a little oily but had great crunch and while the poke wasn't as fresh as we had on the islands, it was still delicious. The Kalbi ribs and Garlic Chicken were both fantastic. However I was a little disappointed with the garlic shrimp. The shrimp was a bit over cooked and chewy. We ended our lunch with fresh Malasadas. We go out of our way to get Leonard's Malasadas when we are on the islands. The Hapa Malasadas are just as delicious as the ones from the islands. Yum!!!!This place is definitely worth a try.

I was excited to try this place after visiting my daughter in Arizona. We were looking for some Asian food and when I saw this Hawaiian food, we had to try! We've been to Oahu so many times and enjoy plate lunches that this was just as good as eating on the island. We ordered a couple of items and had to try the malasadas! I was excited to see that they had some authentic Hawaiian malasadas and we End up getting 6, half custard and half ube. I didn't get to try it when it was freshly made but had it to go. It was nice and warm and good amount of filling. It's the closest thing to Leonard's around here. We enjoyed the plate lunches too! Mac salad was a bit too creamy for me but overall good taste. So if you're craving for some authentic good Hawaiian food, I would recommend checking this place out and try some tasty Hawaiian food!

We're friends, right? Listen... let me tell you about Hapa. This is my family FAV for a Saturday night when I don't feel like cooking. When I tell you that EVERYTHING on this menu is AMAZING... I mean EVERYTHING is AMAZING! The food is so flavorful and there is such good portions, I often get full and have to eat the rest the next day! The customer service is always sensational whether you order in person or over the phone. We have only eaten in the restaurant once but, it is so quaint and serves its purpose. Tonight we all had Kalbi and Garlic shrimp, the flavor profile with the rice and macaroni salad is to die for.. You have to try it!!! You will not be disappointed. THIS spot is a YELPINGLY AWESOME!! Take yourself right on over to HAPA FOOD and have a YELP of a good meal!

Small restaurant with friendly service and amazing food! The galbi is hands down the best hawaiin galbi I've had to date. Delicious marinade, great grill flavor, and so so tender! The chicken was spectacular as well. Crispy but light, and super moist and juicy. The soy garlic glaze was perfect. Their kimchi is a little ginger forward which I didn't mind, but worth noting! Their rice may have been a touch in the dry side, but everything else was so good this is still a 5 in my book. Definitely want to return for their poke and dessert options!
