Hands down better than anywhere else we've been; for the past 10 years we've been faithful to Banbu. Our only "beef" (or maybe "fish" ) has been the escalating prices, expensive to many people , but bank-breaking for my income! ."To our complete surprise, really, the quality and creative selections of Hana Sushi equals that of Hana Sushi along with reasonable prices. The parking is better: Plus the employees are way more personable. Even better, t he last "ginger" (so to speak) at Banbu was discovering that it is the ONLY restaurant I've ever been to in San Diego that doesn't even permit dogs to be in the outside patio (Boo-2-U BANBU!)!!. No such problem at Hana Sushi, now our most favorite sushi-go-Sayonara, Banbu!!

AMAZING PORTIONS!We have been truly enjoying our last few trips into Hana. My kids love the fish tank immediately inside, where they stand and look at "Dory" while we wait to be seated. The staff is super friendly. Sometimes they can be a little bit on the slow side but it's usually due to the amount of tables they have seated. I LOVE the 24 piece large sashimi combo. Excellent fish quality and it fills me up, which is unheard of around here to be full off of Sashimi alone. Aside from that, the rolls are all very good, I have yet to have any I didn't love. Highly recommend this establishment!

Appearances can be deceiving. The pictures online for Hana Sushi present an image of good food and a good atmosphere. In reality, what I experienced there can only be described as a nightmare that I wish I could have woken up from. What I expected to be a pleasant evening with companions turned out to be something spawned from the pits of hell.Let me take you with me on the journey through the culinary catastrophes I endured at Hana Sushi, in order. The takoyaki fried octopus balls felt like live octopus Normally, they are crispy on the outside but the inside melts in your mouth with a slight chew. However, on this visit to Hana Sushi, My jaw felt like it was about to dislocate from the sheer amount of chewing I had to do in order to break down the extremely chewy takoyaki. To make matters worse, there was barely any meat inside. It was mostly dough. It gets worse from there. There is no way that any reasonable human on this planet could mess up chicken karage. However, leave it to Hana Sushi to make the impossible possible. Not crispy at all, barely seasoned, and a burning hot temperature that cooked the inside of my mouth more than the chicken karage was cooked. Now, for the climax. The garlic shrimp was burnt in every capacity: the shrimp itself, the sauce, the rice. It tasted like crunching on the burnt fond from the bottom of a grill. To add insult to injury, we also ordered 4 rolls of sushi. The sushi here was somehow all cut up in different sized pieces, which is one of the main tenets of proper sushi preparation. The sushi also lacked structure and fell apart - causing the roll to separate and become a hassle to eat. It tasted like the fish used in the sushi was left out for several days beforehand. I'm a big fan of raw sushi and it normally doesn't taste or smell fishy. However, here at Hana Sushi, we could smell and taste the ocean in the Sergio Roll. And a polluted ocean at that.

We tried Hana Sushi tonight. We have always been Leary because my wife does not like Sushi. In the course of giving this place a tribe, we found that they serve more than just sushi. I have the California roll and the chicken with rice and was not disappointed. If you were into trying different beers, I would recommend the mango cart. My wife had the chicken tempura. It came with four large pieces of chicken, tempura and tempura vegetables that were amazing. Also came with rice and a side salad in El Cajon 2nd St. or Jamacha in Washington, give them a try. Prices are extremely reasonable great service and great Asian ambience with a sports bar atmosphere. Very friendly employees and Care very much for their customers.

INCREDIBLE!! I can't say enough good things about this place. We went for Mother's Day and every employee made us feel so welcome! Even the owner and her family came over with her kids when she was leaving and said hi! So special. The food was out of this world. I told my wife that it was the best sushi I have ever had and I was even living in Japan for a year. This is so good! This is our new favorite place. Oh also, the prices are prices just right! Drinks and sushi were very reasonable!

Food quality has gone downhill at the same time prices have gone up a lot. Hard to believe that people are still going, but certainly others will see this soon. The cuts of fish are poorer quality (not sure if they've changed to a cheaper supplier) AND lesser quality. Much much better option is sushi exchange one exit west.

I've been to Hana a few times now and have found it to be a little inconsistent. Sometimes to food has been good and sometimes it has been just okay. This last time we went we got 5 different rolls and none of them were GREAT. And one of them was terrible to the point where I wouldn't even eat it. The service has always been good, fast and friendly, but the prices are higher than they should be for the quality and considering the location. I mean they're in the middle of El Cajon, not La Jolla. The restaurant itself is nice enough, big, comfortable booths and you never have to wait for a table (maybe that's not a good sign). For what our options are in east county, it's fine and they're open late, which is convenient. But if you're really looking for some high quality, tasty sushi, this just isn't it.
