Hamburger Factory Family Restaurant

We heard the Hamburger Factory was under new owners. We have a lot of memories here and thought we stop for breakfast. We had the pleasure of being seated in Kevin's section. Kevin was absolute delight. He kept our ice tea flowing. He gave us suggestions to was great on the menu. After all we were at "The Hamburgers Factory" so we went with The Twisted Gringo hamburger combo. It was a great choice. The order includes fries or tater tots. This was a darn good hamburger. It tasted like a really good gourmet burger. Juicy, flavorful , flavors were really good. It was perfect size hamburger. It was stacked well with lettuce , tomato, avocado, cheese and bacon. Fries and tater tots part of combo. Good portion size. We received excellent customer service from Kevin. He was friendly,funny and just a pure delight. He is exactly what brings people back to a great family restaurant. We will be back to try other items on menu. Hopefully we can get seated in Kevin section. We are so glad and Thankful for all the memories this place has provided for all of us that have lived here in Poway. Our little gem off of midland in beautiful Poway. Laura Poway Local

I'm sad to say that the food here was absolutely disgusting. Our server couldn't have been nicer but the food was inedible. The mashed potatoes were instant and the hamburger steak was dry and tough. The grilled cheese was dry, hard and nearly burned. The burger was dry meat with odd clumps of congealed fat stuck to it on a dried out hard bun.

I was really excited to try out this place, as I heard many great things about it. However, I was a bit disappointed with the experience, maybe my expectations were too high. The service here is awesome, I really do like the service here. You can tell people here are genuine and cares for the guests. Even though the service is great, the food was not up to par. Let's start with the fried pickles; the breading was soggy, the flavor was bland, and wasn't consistent. Someone else ordered the fried pickles and it was a lot more than what my plate had. I ordered the beast burger, and again the burger was very bland and the cheese literally slid off the burger. But the onion rings were pretty good, wish the fried pickles were just as crispy! Overall, I would give this place a try.

3.5 - 3.75 starsIt's good but I wouldn't say "great." Went for breakfast and it was a little busy but they were clearly understaffed. We got seated reasonably soon considering. Our server took drink orders for a table that got seated after us first. Meh.Yours truly ordered the hash. It was decent. It came served atop cheesy hash browns, with two pretty small poached eggs. The hash itself, while tasty, came in big chunks rather than small pieces; I had to cut it with a knife. Unusual for hash. The saving grace was that they offer coffee cake instead of toast. The cake was warm and delicious.

We were seated right away. Place is hopping and has a good vibe. Our server came over and quickly took our order. We ordered the child fish plate and that came out first which was nice to get him started. He loved the fish! We also ordered the fried pickles... wasn't too thrilled about them very greasy with grease in the bottom of the dish. Our burgers came out and were huge with a ton of fries and tater tots. We didn't care for the battered avocado but the rest of the burger was good. Would we go back? Yes we would!

I haven't been to HBF since the ownership change so I stopped in to see how they're doing. I'm pleased to report that the charming vibe remains somewhat intact. More white and less brown in general. The old, varied collection of tacky knick knacks, baubles and whatnot has diminished. I do appreciate that a couple of the big bears remain on their perch. The food overall seems to still be rather unrefined and the menu is quite a bit smaller. Service was friendly and genuine. I ordered the "Fried Mac & Cheese Balls" appetizer. Comes with a light green creamy dipping sauce that was not described on the menu. Unfortunately the balls were stone cold in the center. I also ordered a "Cob" which is a traditional Cobb Salad. It's served with their signature huge, puffy breadstick. It was a generous serving although quite average and pedestrian compared to many other fine Cobb's I've had. I am glad that the boiled egg was not 50 shades of gray like at D'Carlos.

We heard the restaurant had recently changed owners and decided to try it out. We came today on a Saturday and there was a farmers market outside. We were able to walk right in with no wait. We sat at a small table right next to the wall and it was super cold. The air was cranking! That's great but not great for food! We ordered the pretzel appetizer, a burger, and one of the specials basket of shrimp. The pretzels were an appetizer however they came out right before our food. Maybe within in a minute which I thought was poor. Bites got cold really fast since we got our meals so quickly after. The burger was good it was the Tank. The fried shrimp was kinda bland but it was nice and golden. Again sitting where we did everything got cold so fast so it was hard to fully enjoy a good meal

I have to give this place 5 Stars!Even though the day I went was absolutely crazy and what most would consider horrible service there is so much that needs to be considered about this place.First of all I have been coming to this place since I can remeber and when I was lucky enough there would be a train ride with my name on it while my family waited for our table to be ready. Though time has not been too kind the Hamburger Factory it is a place of sweet memories.This place is having a shift in management within a few weeks of this experience and writing of this review.Since many employees do not know if they were going to be kept by the new management they either left or did not show up to work (understandably so). Unfortunately, that leaves the employees that are showing up to work to pick up the slack.This did affect us because we were a large part of 7. One of our members being a 2 year old and a very pregnant lady. Since the staff was overwhelmed and other patrons sitting in sections where they were not supposed to (even asked to move to another section and didn't) made our waitress unable to give every table the best service.Since we had a 2 year old and waiting over an HOUR for our food was very difficult on us but it was very obvious that staff was hussling the best they could.The food was still good but was the toddler went into melt down mode it was difficult to enjoy the moment.Overall most would consider this a 1 STAR experience but there are so many layers that considering eveything the staff did their best.If I could make one suggestion is no more mini arcade section. My reason is from the parent of 2 year old and having to bring him away from the fun can cause some problems. Also I feel like this is one more reponsiblity for the staff instead of focusing of service of the food.I look forward to the update!

Fantastic burgers and in such a cute area! Very Cracker Barrel feel in the dining area and flavorful food

Had lunch with the family, and everyone agreed their meals were really good. I had the tri tip sandwich, and it was great. Very soft foccacia break, the meat was very tender, all around great sandwhich. My only concern is it is small for $16.00. The service was very good too. We will absolutely be going back.
