Ordered thru door dash. The order was mostly correct. They subbed my cabbage for green beans. I had the pot roast with cabbage (beans) and pintos. My husband had fried chicken, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. He said the potatoes were the only part of his meal that wasn't great. Chicken was juicy and seasoned well. For me: positives were very tender roast, sweet carrots and pintos were thick and delicious. Negatives were the very dry cornbread and subbing something out without contacting me. On the order form, there's a choice to substitute, cancel or call if a substitute needs to be made. I checked "call" because I have a lot of food sensitivities. They didn't. Anyway, everything else was good. The blackberry cobbler was to die for. As far as ambiance - no clue. Our DD driver got lost for half an hour while coming to our hotel, but I'm not considering that as part of this review. Not their fault at all.

In my pursuit of trying the many soul food restaurants in Nashville, this came highly recommended. My expectations were high, but, unfortunately, the food fell flat.

Black owned meat and 3. The food is good and it is definitely that home style type of food. The "punch" and the lemonade are definitely koolaid if that is any indicator. They are a carry out business so call ahead and grab it to go. I don't eat this way regularly so to go to the store to buy and cook this type of home style food is a waste for me and I can't go to my granny's house to get it. I've had the meatloaf, chicken, green beans, collard greens, Mac and cheese, dinner roll (not homemade) and the the cornbread, the strawberry cake, and banana pudding. The only thing I did not like was the Mac and cheese.

I remember now why I don't go there. Every time I go in there, the manager is always on her phone, the server was on her phone as I was trying to decide what to get bur was nice enough when I made up my mind. For an almost deaf person, popping gum and trying to hear what the server was saying behind the hanging plexiglass was extremely hard. But she was nice. I, as a single person, found the prices to he a little high. Went in with a $20 and left with nothing. So, for me and any other singles, there should read $$ instead of one for a plate to go.After I paid I went to the table next to me to put food in a bag and my potatoes with gravy fell on the floor. I cleaned up the mess and threw the old container in the closest trash, and I thought the manager was going to have a fit. But the server was nice and got me another one. I make like the home cooking but not the clientele so much. I may be back sometime in the future.

Coworker and I striped by this place and thankfully we walked in. Such great food and service. Real down home cooking and feels like home. People make you feel welcome !

Holy smokes! I've been 'eyeing' this place for a couple of years, till, finally, a friend of mine, Bev, preached their attributes..... We went later that day. Oh my.....not only the array of great looking food, but the proprietor, Nelson, couldn't have been more accomodating!I went with Bev's suggestion for the baked chicken, gravy, and dressing, (see photo below) greens, potato salad, cranberry sauce, and cornbread. Simply succulent all-white meat, great dressing, and fabulous gravy....my partner had smothered hamburger steak, greens, green beans, and cornbread.....We were just knocked out....can't wait to go back.....Another couple of patrons I quizzed had my next visits orders; the GIGANTIC pork chop, and the fried chicken...can't wait.....Nelson and all the waitstaff were so warm and friendly and the place was immaculate!!!

Wow small walk in place like a hidden gem. The food is great and service was good. The chess pie is absolutely amazing.

So good! Shrimp and grits were amazing! I'm not a fan of hot water corn bread but the rest was ...Yum I will definitely be ordering again!

I'm from out of town. I had the chicken it was a little dry by the flavor was good. Cabbage, I added some hot sauce, Mac and cheese and sweet potato pie was good.

Good home style cooking. Cafeteria style line to get food and drinks. Food reasonably-priced. Fruit tea overpriced.
