What we ordered: Hamachi Sashimi, Area 206 Curry, Salmon Bara Chirashi Bento, Premium Bara Chirashi Bento, & Spicy Salmon Onigiri.Beautiful chirashi bento's can be found here. We went here a couple months ago and it was so good! They had ramen, curry, bentos, poke bowls, sashimi, and more! They have very limited seating inside. We went when they just opened so there wasn't really anyone inside. I definitely would recommend the chirashi bentos. Check them out next time you're in the South Lake Union area. Park at the Amazon Doppler building after 4 PM on weekdays or anytime on the weekend for free! It's only a couple blocks away from this restaurant.

Came here for lunch one day since I was in the area and tried their bento with the "legendary area curry". The ordering was done online, since they offer 10% off all online orders. The inside was nicely decorated, albeit a bit small (understandable though considering the location). The curry was super flavorful, and I loved how many different toppings they gave!Overall, I would definitely come here again, but probably only if I'm trying to spend a bit more than usual on lunch

I've been a big fan of Rondo, Baiten, and Tamari Bar, which are Gyo Gyo En's sister stores, but I was really let down by Gyo Gyo En. They serve basically the same menu items, but the prices seem to be more expensive. Is this the result of it being located in SLU? The portion sizes were also smaller -- I ordered a similar bento at Baiten to the limited edition bluefin Chirashi $35 I ordered at Gyo Gyo En, yet the Gyo Gyo version was not nearly as filling. It wins points for being aesthetically pleasing, but the cuts of fish are tiny and placed strategically so that the bowl looks fuller than it actually is. I also tried their umami soup on another day and was disappointed by the half cup of soup I got for $5 that tasted just alright. Nothing special and just had a few pieces of tofu In it, so was truly misled by the quantity of the product. There is some bar seating inside the store and even more limited street parking in SLU, so takeout is a very popular option. If you order online, you get 10% off.

If you enjoy an 80's Japan vibe with inventive Japanese sushi bowls with a Hawaiian twist, you'll love this place. They have seasonal specials and a bunch of reliable stand-bys. The sushi is always fresh, the curry is on point, and they have boxes that ensure you don't have to choose. They are the only place I've found in the US that serves whole scallops--mimi included. The ramen is pretty tasty, but the takeout version of it means the noodles are sticky and soggy. I highly recommend the chirashi bowl

Cute and tiny Japanese restaurant in SLU, across the street from Sephora. The service was very fast and friendly. They had a long menu with bento boxes, poke, ramen, curry, onigiri, and more. I went with the 1/2 pound of salmon poke $9 with a side of rice topped with furikake $2. This reminded me of Hawaiian poke, it was fresh, simple, and delicious. I will definitely be coming back!

Yummy food! This spot is tiny on the inside and offers a 10% online discount, so I'd definitely recommend getting your food to go. We ordered online and pickup was ready really quickly. I got the miso salmon bowl, which was pieces of lightly seared salmon sashimi with miso sauce, furikake rice, salad, seaweed salad, a runny egg, and some crunchy onions. For the quality and price it was such a steal! The fish was really fresh, and the rice was cooked perfectly. I loved the balance of flavors and how they all combined together for a super satisfying meal. This would definitely be a spot I could see myself ordering from frequently. It's a little hidden, but fantastic!

I tried the Area 206 Curry, which was delightfully spicy, the Bara Chirashi with its fresh fish, and the Miso Soup, rich in umami flavor. To my surprise, the free Mapo Tofu they included, with its spicy Sichuan peppercorns, ended up being my favorite dish. The quality is there, but I'm docking a star for the steep prices.

As soon as this spot opened up, I was ready to try it ASAP because I also love their sister restaurants Tamari Bar and Rondo. Gyo Gyo En is definitely much smaller than the other two restaurants, so ordering food to go is highly recommended. Not to mention, all online orders get a 10% discount. Street parking is also limited, so there's another reason to order takeout. Service was quick and friendly. I had ordered the Bluefin & Uni Bara Chirashi Bento and the Hoji-Tea Tiramisu from BAITEN :) The prices here do tend to be on the steeper side when it comes to their sashimi items, but the quality is there, and I was pretty satisfied with my meal. The Hoji-Tea Tiramisu was so flavorful! If I get another chance to stop by again, I def wanna try the Wagyu Mazemen.

Really good poke place for take out!If you order online, you get 10% off!Same owners as Rondo Japanese, Tamari Bar, Baiten, and Hi Life - they never disappoint!Got the salmon bara chirashi bento, poke shokado box, miso, and curry (not pictured). All super yummy. Definitely a bit too much food for two people but great left overs. Loved the poke shokado box since you get to try all of their different poke. The presentation of the salmon bento is stunning. The curry at their restaurants never fails. Great take out for a picnic (we went to Kerry park to enjoy this).

This place is so cute! It's small and cozy. It's a perfect spot for 2 individuals to each lunch together. Do not bring a group! The server/cashier is super sweet, nice and attentive!I was looking for a nearby Japanese curry spot and ran across this spot on Yelp and man their signature 206 curry is freaking delicious! I recommend ordering online to save some money. You get discounts just for ordering online! I haven't tried their other items yet but it's on my list of things to try! I'll definitely come here again and recommend to others as well!
