If you're reading this and you haven't tried their chicken, get yourself to a Gus's ASAP because this chicken is legendary. Life changing chicken. This chicken will go down in history. The juiciness of the meat, crispness of the skin, flavor and spice from the seasoning. It's like a rave in your mouth. It's like your taste buds are partying hard. I'm talkin open bar, keg stands, ice luge, extracurriculars. All that. Project X type chicken.

Food was good! Memphis style fried chicken. We took it to go! It was only about a 15 min wait. The server at the counter was quite rude. We're still deciding if we would return again..

Went in and ordered to go about 11:15 on a Tuesday. Half a dozen people in the dining room. If you could judge a good fried chicken joint by the smell alone this place has got what it takes. 15 minutes later my food was ready. Drove it 5 min back to work. Worrying the whole time that it was going to steam and ruin the crisp on the chicken. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. Damn it looked gorgeous. Still crispy and crunchy. They obviously use fresh chicken that is cooked right when you order it and it shows. This was probably in the top 5 for me. #1 is at Sal's Birdland in Rochester NY. The coleslaw was among the best I've had. The potato salad however was really bad. Very pasty and dry and dominated by one overpowering herb I couldn't quite put my finger on. All in all, I would return and sample some of the other sides. Definitely going to be a taste I'm craving again soon.

I have to say it was pretty darn good chicken had great flavor we loved the kick of spice and is was moist as well. just an FYI it's not super fast but that's because they're cooking everything as it's ordered to stay nice crispy and moist iside. we really enjoyed our chicken sandwich and we had a couple fries perfection As for the coleslaw I'm gonna tell you I'm very picky about my coleslaw and it could've been fresher with less mayo. They do have limited alcohol, beer and wine so that's nice the other plus is they have frosty mugs for your beer. places very loud and echoey si if that concerns you the may want to get it to go. It is really worth the try.I so wish they had fried green tomatoes here

I love fried chicken so had to try out Gus's. First time here so pretty excited. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a nice hello. The place looked really clean. Our server was Lele, great young lady, explained how the chicken is prepared and the wait time, since all chicken is made to order. We started out with some ice-tea and it was nice and refreshing. We placed our order and since it takes about 15-20 minutes I took a walk around. They have pretty good wall of history and how the owners started. They also have a variety of beer. Went to the restroom to wash my hands and that also was super clean. We had ordered the special 4 pcs of chicken and 2 sides. My sides were the coleslaw and mac n cheese. My wife also had the coleslaw but with baked beans. I got say the mac was super cheesy and warm, coleslaw was just right on the dressings. Wow now the chicken it was not only delicious but super crunchy, right amount of spice and my favorite part piping hot. So definitely come visit Gus's, they have a few locations in the Phoenix area. Sorry about the picture of just the bones but that's how much I enjoyed my meal and again thank you Lele for your great service and to the kitchen staff.

The Mac and cheese and fries were very over seasoned. Chicken was ok. Nothing I will crave in the future.

Stopped in to try this most raved about fried chicken and was completely disappointed. I'm convinced that Arizona just doesn't know what good chicken is. The staff was super friendly and the inside was very well kept. I was a bit disappointed that the guy taking my order didn't explain the spice level. It would've been nice as a first time customer. I ordered the special that came with four wings, coleslaw, baked beans and a piece of bread. The chicken was beyond spicy. So spicy, I told myself they must brine it in jalapeño juice. I ate one flat and trashed the rest because I couldn't feel my bottom lip. Maybe I'm just a spice wimp. Ha! I didn't like the batter on the chicken either. It had a weird texture. I truly feel that if the spice level wasn't so intense, this chicken had potential. The coleslaw tasted like store bought coleslaw right out of the plastic container. Nothing special. The baked beans tasted like pork and beans with ketchup added. Nothing baked about it. I didn't like how the chicken, coleslaw and baked beans were all put together in one container as packaging the food is important. I truly believe how it was packaged impacted the texture of the chicken, making it soggy and the taste of the coleslaw, making it hot. Cold should've been packaged on its own to reduce the amount of condensation in the box. It was worth a try but I don't see myself ever going back.

Even eating in the restaurant the chicken is over fried/cooked to the point that there is a tough/dry layer of meat under the crust. Or freezer burned...hard to believe this is prepared fresh. Disappointed..when they first opened the chicken was really good.

Finally got to try the famous gus's chicken! I'm glad that they open a new one in Ahwatukee.Ordered 2 pieces dark meat combo and half chicken combo with original spicy, nommm it was so yum!Their fried skin part is perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the meat was soft and chewy. But meat part wasn't really seasoned, so you'll need to add salt to it.Fried okra was good too, yet this was a bit bland, I don't like anything salty but it was even bland for me. I wish they add more salt to it. Anyways their chicken is yum!

First time at a Gus's. It is located in the former store front of Keegan's near Bank of America, across from Target. 48th and Ray Rd. Very well lit. Immediately upon entering we were warmly greeted and told we could take a seat wherever we liked. Soon our wonderful server, Jackie M, arrived to take our drink order and to answer any questions we might have. My wife and I were a little concerned as the menu says "Hot & Spicy." Both of us do not do well with spicy so Jackie suggested we try the chicken tenders as they are less spicy. We said ok and shared a serving which came with Coke slaw, beans, & a piece of white bread. The chicken was very hot (temperature) and was moist. Not too spicy for us at all. Great flavour. The sides were tasty as well. For my beverage I ordered a Diet Coke and my wife had sweet tea. BTW-If you bring the plastic cup back next visit you get 50 cents off your drink order. We finished off our meal with a piece of warm pecan pie which was very good. I highly recommend you try Gus's. We will return for sure. Can't wait for warm evenings again as they have outdoor seating too.
