Shout out to Anna and Willie for making my experience phenomenal! They made the visit feel "home-like" as if I was visiting an old friend or family member. They were friendly, attentive, and such a delight. The chicken was fried fresh, and every bite was crispy, juicy, and had a hint of spice. So delicious! The service was quick and efficient, making it a perfect option during my hectic day. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant dining experience. Overall, they exceeded my expectations. Next time I am in the city, I will be back.Added bonuses: They offer a refillable cup you can bring back during future visits. With locations all across North America, one should stop in to experience their award-winning fried chicken just to say you did! In all seriousness, since the recipe was shared over 60 years ago to attract food lovers alike -- this is just one of those staples you should try at least once. I tried their fried chicken for the very first time while on my trip in TN so I knew this location would not disappoint.The menu is straightforward in that individual or family orders can be selected along with all the sides the heart desires. I tried their 2-piece dark meat plate that comes standard with a side of coleslaw and a side of beans. I also ordered a small mac n' cheese to try. Everything was delicious -- so much so -- that I left no evidence of food ever touching my plate. HahaService was fantastic. All staff were attentive and attended to the dinner rush with a wonderful sense of hospitality. Large dining hall. Lots of drink options. Thoughtful wall decor.Win win all around for me.

Gus's World Famous Chicken was bookmarked for when I visited Arizona. I am glad I got a chance to try it.The restaurant looks like a simple diner. A bit quiet on a weeknight.Melaisia was sweet, friendly, outgoing, welcoming, and very helpful! She made some recommendations and also told me the spice levels of their chicken. She also noted that if I have a peanut allergy, their chicken is fried in peanut oil.Ala Cart - Thigh: Served fresh, never frozen, natural, hormone-free chicken, and fried everything in peanut oil (4/5). Nicely fried to a golden brown. Crispy and seasoned well with a kick. Unfortunately, they can not change the spice level. Per Melaisia, "If you can handle spice, it's a level 2. If you can't handle it, it's a level 5. It's not too bad."Collard Greens: Contains pork (3/5). Cooked well and had a slight kick in spice.Overall, it's "World Famous". I'd come back again.

I got the 2 piece chicken meal with white meat, collard greens, and mac and cheese. I also tried some of the potato salad, beans, and fried pickles. Everything was fresh, homestyle, and absolutely delicious!!! Will definitely be back!

May 4th 2024 was my first time at Gus's which I came across their ad on Yelp. I am a Yelp leader. I love crispy crust hard shell fried chicken, so I met a business person here so I could try the chicken. I didn't want to order the $12.50 plate because I came here for the chicken, not for the beans and coleslaw which is a very small amount I saw from other people's plates. So I ordered three thighs at $4 each. But I was somewhat disappointed because although the crust was crispy like a potato chip, but the chicken inside was hardly anything because they fried the chicken so long the meat got dried and shriveled and the piece of chicken was very light because there wasn't much meat or juice or moisture inside. All three pieces were the same emaciated flesh inside. But the coating was very satisfying. All in all I rate two stars because I didn't get enough chicken meat for $12 .That same night ate my KFC chicken thighs from my $10 for 8 pieces of dark meat Tues special from KFC that was just 4 thighs and 4 legs on Tuesdays. The eight thighs and legs are only $10 at Tuesday special and the thighs were plump, soft, full and meaty and juicy and tender.... not dried up inside. I put the KFC chicken pieces in my toaster oven and put on toast and the original recipe becomes almost as crispy as Gus's. It's much more satisfying that I could get eight pieces of dark meat $2 less than the price I paid for the emaciated three thighs at Gus's.Not coming back.

1st time here and truly was impressed. The name definitely fits the fried chicken. It was amazing. A nice kick of spice while juicy with every bite. Amanda was our server. She was super friendly and helped with recommendations. We loved it all. Started it off with Pickle Spears. Then chomped on some chicken and tasty sides. Did not have room for dessert but they have a a pie menu. Plenty of parking, daily specials, TV screens inside and friendly service.

Chicken is awesome. Slaw and beans very good too. Friendly staff. This was my first time here, but not my last. Still trying to figure out how a 3 piece dark (with an extra drum stick), 3 piece tender, two teas, and a $20 T-shirt came to $75! Should have kept the receipt

I wasn't terribly excited when the group lunch choice was a fried chicken joint, but came to terms with it when I saw chicken tenders on the menu.I ordered two chicken tenders and a medium coleslaw, thinking a small may not be enough with just two tenders. I was a little embarrassed when a probably 16oz styrofoam cup filled to the brim with slaw was placed on the table.The tenders were not bad but I must say slightly dry. Whether tenders or other pieces of chicken our group of 8 seemed to agree all of it was drier than expected for a "world famous" place. Dipped in ranch it wasn't bad to eat. Slaw was good, flavorful - approached too "wet" - just a little less-so would have been perfect. Also felt like I ate tons of it and barely made a dent in the cup, ha.I didn't realize it was going to be a sit down place with the very casual decor. Service was efficient. I think they were grateful we were on one check.I would return under similar circumstances - i.e. would accept going if someone invited me here but wouldn't choose it on my own. I'd order the same thing but small slaw, or maybe minus one tender and add a small mac and cheese (I have a smaller appetite).
