I pass by Gumrai Thai from work to home all the time and finally decided to check it out. The interior is spacious and cozy, providing a comfortable dining atmosphere. I sampled a variety of dishes: crab rangoon, red curry, panang curry, pad thai, pepper steak, and a sip of their pho soup. The food gives off a very homey vibe and the portions are generous. I loved how big the crab rangoons were, though you taste more cream cheese than crab. Still delicious! The panang curry with tofu and the pad thai were standout dishes--flavorful and satisfying. The pepper steak, however, tasted like an ordinary stir fry I've made at home and didn't impress me as much. The pho soup had a unique twist which was new but enjoyable. For the spice level, we opted for a 2 and added chili oil on the side. The service was good, adding to the overall pleasant experience. While it wasn't the best Thai food I've ever had, it was still delicious and worth returning for. I'll be back to try more items on their menu!

I don't know if it's the new owner or what is going on but this food was salty and nasty!!!! We were all sick after eating there. I wish I could get a refund. It was expensive. Nothing but pure salt. Never again !

Quiet placeI went there last weekend and this time I did not have a good experience. Place was empty. Plenty of take out orders. One guy had his headphones on and was screaming and laughing. He did that for 15min until he realized that there are customers sitting in the restaurant. The service was very slow. May be they had new staff, but we did not like the service or the food this time. We ordered soup and we said we gonna share, but still they came and left soup at our table and went inside. We had to wait 4-5 min for someone to come out, so we can ask for bowls and spoons. Soup was not so amazing. We tried Magnolian Tofu, which was nothing like that but saturated with high salt soy sauce. Fried rice were fine. We had asked for chilli oil when we placed our order but nothing came with it. Again we had to wait for someone to be seen, when we asked for again, they got us sriracha sauce. When asked, they said that this is the only thing we have. Food was below average this time and service was bad. We were disappointed by our visit.

Ensconced within the culturally diverse heartland of Arlington Heights is Gumrai Thai, an undisputed bastion of Thai culinary prowess. Over the years, this restaurant has been a comforting constant in my journey, its delightful offerings leaving an indelible mark on my gastronomic memory. Today, after countless mesmerizing encounters with their exquisite cuisine, I finally muster the courage to pen this sesquipedalian tribute to their culinary artistry. Our latest gastronomic narrative began with the Chicken Khao Soi Curry, a dish that has continually enthralled my palate with its distinctive flavor symphony. It's a delightful dance of tender chicken, creamy coconut curry, and the textural elegance of soft and crispy noodles - a display of culinary prestidigitation that exceeds the realm of the ordinary. On this parallel journey of flavors, my girlfriend found herself entranced by the Pepper Steak. The harmonious unison of succulent steak and robust pepper glaze exhibited the deft hand of Gumrai Thai's chefs, their ability to transform the simplest ingredients into a melody of taste that commands epicurean respect. Our meals, adorned with the refreshing notes of Singha beer, made for a multisensory spectacle. Its crisp, light profile enhanced the rich, diverse palette of our dishes, underpinning our dining experience with a sparkling undertone. However, our visits to Gumrai Thai are not solely about the food or the commendable service. They also serve as an oasis for introspection amidst the bustle of life. During this particular visit, my thoughts were preoccupied by a significant decision I'm contemplating - buying a boat. This contemplation is not fueled merely by a desire for aquatic recreation. It is a more profound reflection on how my personal narrative is perceived, a quest to add another dimension to my identity in the eyes of my peers. I'm not seeking approval, but rather, I yearn for a certain depth of character, an interesting facet to my life story. I understand this sentiment may seem out of place in a restaurant review, but as we dined at Gumrai Thai, this internal dialogue played out alongside our culinary journey.Emerging from this introspective interlude and returning to the playful incident of the evening, my girlfriend, in a spirit of jest, 'accidentally' spilled a full glass of water on my shorts. The staff's swift and professional response showcased their unwavering commitment to our comfort, turning an unexpected moment into an opportunity to experience their exceptional service.Through the lens of such experiences, Gumrai Thai is much more than a restaurant. It's a canvas where meals transform into memories, where the dining experience transcends the realm of sustenance and becomes a delightful sesquipedalian performance. With its seamless blend of culinary artistry, service excellence, and warm ambiance, Gumrai Thai continues to be a sanctuary for both my palate and my thoughts. I eagerly anticipate many more such encounters and the narratives they promise to add to my life story!

Quite an authentic Thai place in the neighborhood. I've ordered take out atleast 3 times in the last two months and the food quality is consistent. Every dish tried (fried rice, panang curry; udon noodles, and fried potstickers) just hit the spot.
