Restaurant looks good from outside. No parking (only $5.00 valet). Food is a different story my 3rd time there and my last !!! Can't find anything that is good. I had a falafel plate tonight (more like bricks) it was so bad, they took it off the bill.Service is just OK, nothing special.I would stay away! Way too many good restaurants in Highwood!!!

I made a reservation for 3 on their website but ended up changing it the day of to 4. It was really easy, the online system works great. The valet is cheap at 5 bucks but it is basically your only option around here. It's a nice space, all sectioned off like it is it never felt crowded no matter how full it got. We tried several dishes. Mussels, cornbread, chicken wings( harissa with tahini dip), sesame tuna, Scottish salmon, and the double cheeseburger with truffle fries. Honestly everything was delicious! The burger was perfect, which is harder to achieve than people think. Juicy, not underdone or overdone, cheesy. The truffle fries weren't worth the upgrade as the truffle oil just made the fries soggy. The cornbread was definitely worth getting, some of the best I've ever had. The chicken wings were really good, not over sauced with a good heat level that didn't kill my palate. The service was close to a high end level, with waiters and servers checking in regularly as well as wiping down the table after appetizers and providing replace silverware. The water is presented in nice bottles which is always a classy touch. They did take a bit to bring a second glass of wine but after a reminder it came right away. For dessert I was offered a complimentary soft serve ice cream in a chocolate cup (this was a belated birthday dinner) which was very nice. We also ordered the skillet cookie which was quite tasty but, I think, a bit over done on the bottom. As a side note the bathrooms were clean and they have gender neutral bathrooms as well. One thing that this restaurant suffers from Is that it's near the metra tracks. Several times throughout the meal we had to stop talking while waiting for the very loud trains to go by. Certainly not Greenwoods fault but it does hurt the ambiance a bit. I'd also like to see a larger menu here. Some of my companions just ate off of the appetizers menu because nothing in the limited entree menu appealed to them. Overall this is a nice dining experience that treats you like a fancy downtown restaurant, without breaking the bank.

Not what it once was. The food was "good" but not memorable. My turkey burger was a hefty patty, medium well as ordered, but really under-seasoned, so not a big taste treat. It was ala carte, with only a small glass of fries. The burger was $17. I'll take The Claim Company's (Northbrook) turkey burger, very nicely seasoned with large mashed potatoes on the side: $13. That's a good combination.Greenwood's staff was lackluster, tripping over each other, unclear on how to affect service. We sat outside, and cold water bottles had to be continually requested rather than smartly replaced as needed. The restaurant still looks as nice as when it opened, but favorite dishes are gone, food quality isn't as favorable, and the service has gone elsewhere. We won't be back. (Sorry, the photo attached is from some time ago, an older positive review, and that dish, which I really loved, has been gone for some time now.)

Greenwood American Kitchen has been on my list of restaurants to try so for my birthday that 's where we went for dinner. The restaurant is in Highwood where parking can be tough but they offer $5 valet parking which is worth every penny. Don't forget to bring cash for a tip.The restaurant itself is large and decorated in a casual but sophisticated way. You'll feel like you're at a hip downtown restaurant. Dress accordingly. We started with drinks. My husband had the scrumpy which was an enjoyable cider. I ended up trying the Sundream, which was a tequila based drink served in a beautiful stemmed glass. I'd definitely order it again. Our appetizer was the shrimp cocktail. It came with four large shrimp and was what we expected. For dinner my husband tried the double burger and upgraded to the truffle fries. I had the chicken paillard with a beet/goat cheese frisée salad. We both enjoyed our meals.I was full by this point in the meal but my husband had been talking about wanting the sundae ever since I asked him to make the reservation online. With that in mind I made a deal with him that he could get the sundae but next time we order dessert I get to choose as my "birthday choice." He quickly agreed and ordered a chocolate sundae with gold brick and pecans. It lived up to his expectations. Beware I think the gold brick is made in house so it hardens quickly. Pour it on your ice cream as soon as it is served. The restaurant brought out a little birthday treat for me. It was an edible chocolate cup filled with vanilla soft serve that had a candle and an edible chocolate happy birthday sign. Overall, we'll likely return for a date night dinner or for a special occasion where we want something nicer than a typical casual restaurant.

I love coming to Greenwood! The truffle mac & cheese is amazing, as well as the brussel sprouts, and grilled chicken. Service is always great and we love the vibes here too!

Here's what you need to know: Josh and his team have created the most joyous dining experience for upscale yet casual fare in Highwood. A tight menu which is executed so well with service and ambiance that are simply incomparable. The visuals of the food are amazing (please see pics). Our server Riley was absolutely outstanding too. The patio is the most elegant and vibrant in the north shore. Love the feel of it.Overall, excellent repeat experience and keeps us coming back for more.

Here are my thoughts! I'm in no way an expert or a food critic!1. Beautiful outdoor area! 2. Outstanding service 3. Decent drinks ( hardly any alcohol in the special cocktails) 4. Bad calamari - it's just Giardiniera with hardly any calamari 5. Wings were good, the harissa ones were interesting in a good way6. Burger was Big Mac on steroids 7. Salmon ok8. Chicken BLT so dry 9. Fish dish - good10. Kids meals, get the grilled chicken because the fried one god knows what's in it!Overall I would come back to have a drink and a great service and enjoy the outdoor area.

Went to greenwood for my birthday with my family and everyone was so happy with their dinner selection,Which is very unusual for my picky family From reservations to being seated and served, everything was flawlessly executed It's not cheap but it was still a good deal for the quality of the food and the quality of the atmosphere,Another big win for highwood! The rainbow trout, turkey burger and the filet were all very tasty!I had salmon with the veggie stir fry and it was delicious
