It was nice sitting outside although the place next door Nirvana - had a musician playin guitar and singing. The food was ok, worth going back for, but not whoa amazing, good enough. The desert was awful. Some sort of cream pie full of food coloring and tasteless crapes. The evening would have been great if the singer from next door wasn't playing. It might have been the most awful singing I've heard. Not green basils fault, but the overall experience could have been better without the music...

We came into order on a Friday night and the take-out was ready in just 10 minutes! Fast service was impressive. When we opened our dinners, they smelled amazing. The one thing is all of the dishes were light on meat! A ton of curry broth but not a lot of veggies and meat. So while I wanted to love this dinner, it was light to say the least. We'll keep looking for the right place for us.

We love this place but lately the cooking has not been consistent.. Vegas and meats reduced far too much. It may depend on who is cooking but reduced ingredients if it continues will bean end for me to going here. If you must raise prices to adjust for it I say do it ... it beats losing customers.

Service is super friendly. The restaurant is calming and relaxing. The food is fantastic. The pot stickers are really tasty. The sauce that comes with them is so flavorful. Their Pad Thai with chicken is our go-to and it always hits the spot! Their Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee are so delicious. On our last visit I had the Thai Tea with dinner and the Thai Coffee with dessert. For dessert we tried their season sweet mango with sticky rice and their lychee panna cotta! Both were sweet and the perfect ending to a wonderful date night out.

Most nearby Thai restaurants are closed on Sundays, so this was a pleasant surprise that they open on a Sunday. We ordered by phone without even looking at the menu, and the staff knew what the dishes we asked are. All came down to $60+, on the expensive side but it's fine we are trying for the first time. Said the order ready in 15 min which is pretty fast compared to others. The interior was fancier than many other Thai because it has a bar. But that also gives you an idea that the food is more tailored for American taste buds. Pad Thai Tofu-- there's a lack of the Pad Thai strong fermentation flavor, so while it probably appeases the general public, it doesn't have that unique flavor that so many can't stand. It's more like tomato ketchup noodles, which is delicious in itself, but just not what I think is a good pad thai. Severely lacking the sour profile. Additional missing ingredients is bean sprouts! Instead they have red and white chopped cabbage. Again, while pretty delicious, it's just lacks the "authentic flavor", even tho the dish itself is not authentic by any means. Tofu is fried and just OK. They still had the crushed peanuts so that's good. My husband likes this better than the more authentic version. Pad kee mao beef-- this was really really disappointing. While it's good that it's not spicy (I've never had a pad kee mao that's not spicy...) because our kids can eat it, the flavor is nothing like pad kee mao. Just salty, particularly the eggs. Flavor of basil is very very muted and limited. Beef cuts are tough to chew. They didn't give a lot of noodles but gave a lot of veggies, which is great!! But the veggies are like not authentic to Thai food, it's just mixed Asian stir fry veggies like mini corn and water chestnut. Along with bell peppers. Very interesting and weird combo. I like the veggie component, it's just not what I could consider pad kee mao. Probably wouldn't order again. Completely missing the taste profile.Lad nar beef-- this wasn't bad, but they used Chinese broccoli instead? Beef is not coated or tenderized so it's tough to eat. Sauce is OK, but lack the sweetness. Just very muted Thai flavors to appease the general public. If you are looking for strong Thai flavors, this place is not it. The food itself is still tasty. This one is not as weird as pad kee mao. Probably would order again for the kids.Fish cake appetizer-- this imo was done better than other places, I liked how fluffy and fried it is, it's much softer than other places. Loved the spices and herby tastes, which is similar to others. Probably sourced from the same place so it generally tastes similar. The dipping sauce has cucumber and crushed peanuts like other places. A bit more syrupy than other places but tastes the same. Thai iced tea-- this one I think it's done better than other more traditional Thai places. I liked the distinction of the tea flavor at the bottom and the milk up top. It doesn't taste like premade mix like other places even if they used the same method. I can actually taste the tea here. Also love the handle and design of the carry out version. Would order again!Overall I think it's a pretty-OK place for Thai food. Something fast and edible, and fancier than others. The portion size is equal or smaller than other places. I think I might reserve this place as a second option for Sunday cravings of Thai food.

Solid choice for Thai in the Vernon Hills area. Service is friendly and attentive, prices are on par with other casual restaurants in the area. We tried the seafood Rangoon which had large shrimp and tiny scallops, and a really good amount of filling. The basil friendly rice with beef was also very tasty, as was the Tom Ka Kai soup. A good amount of chicken and the broth was seasoned very well.

I thought the service was excellent. I was constantly provided refills and quick service from all of the waitresses in the restaurant. The food also arrived rather quickly. My pad woonsen was very good. There was a nice flavor to it and it was light. I didn't feel overwhelmed or full after eating here. I would absolutely return to this restaurant.

I like trying local places. They are usually better than chains. Today I wanted Thai and found Green Basil in Vernon Hills. I wish I hadn't. I was greeted by a pleasant young woman who took my to go order and offered me some water as I waited. On the inside the restaurant is nice and decorated very tastefully. Tasteful is not a word I can use for the food. I ordered a yellow curry that looked delicious upon opening the box. I was thoroughly disappointed with a very bland, nearly tasteless curry. On top of that, I am used to Jasmine rice with my curry and this time it was sticky rice. Maybe it's just me that prefers Jasmine so I can't ding them for that. The bland food was a one star. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant earns it a little higher rating.

A small restaurant in a strip mall may not grab your attention-but do give Green Basil Thai a try! They can easily accommodate gluten free needs. The Mangotini martini was scrumptious! The appetizers were delicious, and the main courses were even better. We had 6 people in our party, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We wouldn't hesitate to return!

A friend suggested we try eating here and it's a pretty good Thai takeout. We especially liked the kang panang chicken which had nice flavor and tender white meat. The honey sesame beef was surprisingly good quality beef in a definite honey bested sauce. The pad se ew was good but although I'm not a tofu fan, it had a nice sauce and taste. The pot stickers were only average while the egg rolls came with a phyllo type dough and pretty tasty filling, albeit only vegetables.Nothing seemed to suffer by being carried out except they forgot the white rice with our order. We'd try a few other dishes next time.
