Epitome of a dive bar... and I mean that with a compliment. There are regulars who the staff know by name. Prices are good, food is just ok, but the staff is great.

This is a great little neighborhood hang out! It reminds me of a small town bar where everyone knows each other. I love that atmosphere, and you don't get a lot of that around here. Don't expect anything fancy or classy. The drinks are served in disposable plastic cups (except for the beer) and the food is a bit pricey for what you get but they've got some tasty burgers and the onion rings are great! Also try the steak sandwich, it's one of my favorites. If you're a beer fan, their beer list is huge! This is also a great spot to go watch a game. The walls are literally plastered with tv's, including a couple of huge projection screens. There's also lots of outdoor seating. I'd say the food is average but I rated this place 4/5 for the friendly service, selection of beer and the small town vibe.

Limited menu but what they serve is good! Like a nice, favorite neighborhood hang-out. The Club Sandwich is always good. Their fries are outstanding. Delicious burgers and dogs. Serve Beer-Wine-Full Bar. Clean facilities. Good service. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Nothing fancy. Relaxing atmosphere with a ton of TVs and big screen projectors to watch the game. HUGE selection of beers to try. Nice, golf course setting. Easy parking and access. Only shortcoming: Rest rooms are outside, around the corner. Not a long walk. Rest rooms are clean and well maintained. Enjoyed our experience and will be back!

I love this place. Everyone is super friendly. The crispy French fries are better than ANY fast food place. Burgers are delicious and they go out of their way to make me a good martini. Can't wait Togo again.

Pros: Fun atmosphere, decent food, lots of HUGE projectors for big games/Sunday football (think sports book big), great IPAs on tap (I recommend Blood Orange or Swami PP) indoor and outdoor seating, inexpensive driving range and golf course. Cons: This place closes REALLY early. It's part of a retirement community I believe so it's probably something to do with that. That means no Monday/Thursday night games, UFC or boxing events if they conclude after 8:30ish. Restrooms and kind of far from the bar but in AZ that's not normally an issue. They are kept in a maintained and clean condition However I have heard of the occasional critter accidentally finding their way in since the door goes directly outdoors. Keep an eye out. Service can be hit or miss. It's never bad but it's not as good sometimes. Overall I would recommend this place. We like it because it reminds of of places we used to go growing up back in the mid-west.

I have owned in Happy Trails, Surprise AZ for over 13 years. Our local Great Eagle restaurant bar used to be the place to go for breakfast , lunch, or dinner. There was tons of bar and beer specials and many TV's on, with A variety of sports channels. It was absolutely excellent back in the day and we would ask our friends and other family to meet us here for a variety of functions. The outside seating was clean, (no bird defecation) and the center breezeway was beautiful and full of visitors, all hours of the day and evening. Over the last six years, I have seen a serious decline in outside cleanliness and attention to detail in the food preparation. It depends who the cook is now, whether you get condiments or pickles with your meal. If you ask for a burger or cheeseburger, you have to specifically ask for mayo, pickles, mustard, and ketchup before you get your meal . Usually, you have to ask after the fact for a second time for mayo, ketchup, mustard, and fry sauce. I spose it's good for my health that the dinners come with a total of 18-25 fries, but it seems like a half order any where else. The outside seating of Great Eagle restaurant bar is unfortunately embarrassingly disgusting now. Every one of the cushions is completely covered on both sides with bird defecation as well as several of the concrete areas that our tables are located. Most of the garbage cans are at least half, to completely full by mid day and at least 20 cigarette butts covering the top of every 'sand' smoking containers. Unfortunately, the last couple of years the center breezeway has been off limits due to construction, but we rarely see anyone working In the construction areas. This used to be a desirable place to be from both of our perspective (my wife and I). We were proud to bring our families and friends to Great Eagle restaurant but now we now go to Arizona traditions, which is a volunteer bar and it is very clean and there is no bird defecation. If the Great Eagle owners and or managers cared to make more money or cared about their reputation they could clean up the outside, replace the cushions, take out the trash and cigarette butts and it would make a hugely positive difference. There is enough room both inside and outside of the establishment to host live bands like the local bars. Great Eagle would make a ton of money on the retirees and local people that used to love this restaurant bar. I am extremely saddened with the downline of this establishment, I used to brag about it, but now I just tell people to go next-door to Arizona traditions or any other bar in the area area. It is absolutely unfortunate how the owners have let this go. It wouldn't take very much to bring it back To par, I just don't think they care unfortunately. This is my honest opinion. We used to love this place but now it's gone to bird crap-literally.

Do not order the nachos..Cold liquid cheese, uncooked onions Etc. You probably could do okay with a burger and fries. Staff is friendly.
