Nice to have this long-standing butcher from Bellevue set up shop in Woodinville. Good quality meats. Not really a full-on whole-animal butcher shop like Beast & Cleaver or other artisan butchers, but a good place to buy meat nonetheless.

Stopped by b/c I was in the neighborhood and my sweetie had made a plea for steaks for dinner. Picked up three NY steaks, did a rosemary-olive oil-salt-pepper-garlic rub, sous vide cooked at 132 degrees and then seared - and they were PHENOMENAL. Really the best steaks we've had in a very long time, and since this is my go-to way of cooking them, we can be assured that it wasn't the chef's expertise that made them so amazing! We also picked up apple fritter sausages (different! interesting! not my cup of tea but great fun for any apple fritter fiend in the family, like my sweetie, who got to play "guess the ingredients" for quite some time), candied bacon, and some chicken pepperoni. Chicken spicy pepperoni did not make it home as it was my car snack and very tasty indeed. The candied bacon is incredibly decadent and very fun. We had some fresh and some crisped up in a pan, and I would say that if you are to attempt the latter, you will want to be (a) extremely observant and (b) cook at perhaps a lower temperature than normal due to the sugar, as it will burn quickly. Can't wait to get more steaks when I'm in the neighborhood!

Customer Service at its finest! Showed up on Saturday at 5:40pm responsible for cooking tonight's dinner for 10. Most nights these guys close at 6 and o thought I had plenty of time. I Didn't realize that they closed early on Saturday. The 2 guys saw me walk up to the door and must have seen the panic look on my face when I saw they were closed and I was going to have to go buy grocery store meat. They not only let me in after they already closed up but cut me a special cut from the back. 5 stars around for these guys. You have created a loyal Woodinville client. Side note - My son did jiu jitsu in the same space as this location. Was sad when his martial arts place closed down but so happy with a local meat market who cares about their customers!

We go to both locations on Bel-Red and Woodinville. When we lived in Bellevue, we would frequent the Bel-Red spot for dry aged steaks and snacks like the candied bacon and pepperoni sticks every single week. Once we moved to Lynnwood, we started going to the new Woodinville location and they don't disappoint. We LOVE doing business with these guys--everyone that works here is incredibly friendly and helpful. The quality of the meat is always on point, and we love the energy of the place.I didn't used to understand the draw of going to the local butcher when you can usually find what you need at the grocery store, but now I get it. We probably go to the butcher more than the store now. Highly recommend this place and the one in Bel-Red!

My recent visit to Golden Steer Butcher Shop left me absolutely thrilled. It's a carnivore's haven that exceeded all expectations. The beef tenderloins and ribeye I tried were a true delight, bursting with exquisite flavors that proved their commitment to quality. A huge shoutout to Phil, who made our experience even more memorable. His knowledge of meats is matched only by his sense of humor. He guided us through the selection process with expertise, ensuring we picked the right cuts for our needs. It's rare to find someone who can educate and entertain simultaneously. If by chance the manager is reading this message, great job finding Phil. With Golden Steer, I've found my ultimate destination for top-tier meats. The combination of quality cuts and Phil's friendly demeanor makes every visit a joy. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning not only for the meats but also for the camaraderie. For fellow meat enthusiasts, Golden Steer is an absolute must-visit. This review comes with my highest recommendation. Five stars all the way!

The Golden Steer needs to train their employees on how to cut different types of meat. In the Woodinville store we asked for "airline or airplane chicken" which is the chicken breast with a drumstick. Defined as "Airline chicken or airline chicken breast is a cut of chicken composed of the boneless chicken breast with the drumette attached. The breast is skin-on, and the first wing joint and tendon are attached while the rest of the breast is boneless."What we got was chicken breasts on the bone with wings. It was not de-boned. It was a HUGE breast. I'd like to be confident that a butcher shop with quality meats would know how to cut an Airline chicken but no one really did. We paid for an Airline cut of chicken but got a Safeway cut of chicken breast. Very disappointed in the Golden Steer's lack of education to it's younger employees.

Stopped back in for some skirt steak and found out the kid I had a beef with (pun intended?) was let go and the OG staff is there. Even their newer, younger staff are super helpful and accurate now so looks like it was a temporary, point-in-time issue that has been corrected. Happy to be back.
