This restaurant saved our very souls, or at least, our hungry stomachs - we were EIGHT people visiting the area for the Bucktown Garden Walk, and it was very hot, and we were pretty hungry. They were able to accommodate our large family (including two toddlers), at peak lunchtime, with no advance notice. The service was friendly and personable. Seems it is a husband and wife team running this place. The food tasted so homemade, and fresh, and delicious. I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants, and in Thailand, and this was a standout. The only downside was that they didn't have any beef the day we went, and I really wanted a beef salad. They were able to sub in the protein of my choice (I went with tofu), and it was still pretty good. My husband adored his khao soi, as it's a dish he fell in love with in Chiang Mai. My mom could not stop raving about her Pad Kee Mao, and sister loved her Panang curry. Those were the standouts, but everyone loved everything they had at the table. It does seem like they were pretty popular for takeout (hence, how we got a table), but I think they deserve to be even more popular still. If you love Thai food, you will find a lot to love at Gold Ladle.

In town from San Diego and saw that this place was nearby. I came for the Khao Soi because I had eaten it once in Chiang Mai and am always looking for it. Everything here was amazing, the Khao Soi tasted just like it did in Thailand. The pad see ew was really good too. Everyone was super nice and accommodating of my peanut allergy. Also nice playlist.

The food was decent but not worth the high price tag. I got the Pad Krapao for takeout and they messed it up making it into a stir fry. There was not enough flavor so I had to add sauces to it at home. My partner got the Sweet n Sour chicken and although it was very crunchy, there was barely any chicken under the breading. Will try to give it another chance next time and hope my order was off from usual.

This little restaurant is the perfect place to catch up with a friend on all their life updates while eating some delicious food. The pad woonsen and the fried rice are so good, and the spring rolls are delightful as well.

This is northern Thai food. Best khao soi in Chicago as far as I know. Just delicious.

Ordered pickup--got the Pad Kee Mao. Very flavorful and well-seasoned. The flat noodles were perfectly cooked. Prices are very reasonable. Will be returning soon!

Idk when this place opened but it is some of the best Northern Thai food in Chicago; not as spicy, different dipping sauces, lots of sticky rice and Khao Soi. The noodles in curry broth are fried and boiled noodles together which make the dish texturally delicious. The staff is some of the most pleasant waitstaff there can be; they really want to make you comfortable - so just ask. The ambiance is simple but everyone is so nice and all of the food is so good you don't need but a few chairs, a place setting and a table and byob.

I did a late night pick up order of pad thai. The dish was great. Ingredients were fresh, and the entree was hot. We've been missing a good go-to Thai place. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu.
