UPDATE: After emailing management, I received a response from the co-owner after a week. Appreciate the thorough response and it sounds like they are undergoing staff changes to address their unprofessional behavior. Hoping to see improvement in the next few weeks.TLDR: they're racist towards Asians, do NOT go here.This is tough because I threw a birthday party with Gold Bar when they were located in SLU. I went to one of their opening parties in their new location in Cap Hill, and while smaller, was happy to support their new move and fun cocktails. Their apps used to be great.That being said, I had the WORST experience last night, was treated extremely poorly, and definitely treated worse than my friends who weren't Asian. The space was not packed at all, so when I waited at the tiny bar, I assumed I was next. As I'm about to order, three other people walk up to the bar and bartender said they got there first. Which they definitely did not...I don't know if they were friends with the bartender or not, but should have been my first red flag. I only got 1 drink around 1am, and by 2am sharp, my drink was ripped out of my hand from the staff. I get it's closing time, but a heads up would have been appreciated? Note that this only happened to me, and none of my other friends. Had we received a "10-15 min" warning to finish our drinks, I would have been more prepared and finished up earlier. There are sooo many other ways to indicate closing time, but I have never had a bartender physically grab a drink out of my hand. It may sound dramatic, but it honestly felt super violating, given that our group of 6 were all having a good time just sitting and chatting.Everything was completely abrupt, and in addition to all this, there seemed to be random people outside that weren't even in the bar originally, enforcing that we leave immediately. As we're waiting outside for our car, we were understandably upset, but then we were repeatedly told that we need to walk away from the bar entrance. Our group was not belligerent at all, but they wanted us gone and away from the venue asap.Stay far far away from this place because you will be treated like scum especially if you're Asian. Tons of other awesome bars nearby, don't waste your time in this low class bar.

The ambiance of this spot is quite interesting - it went from pretty calm and chill one minute to music pumping and blasting in front of us the next. The seats inside are also arranged quite casually, so finding a corner to sit at can be a little awkward to arrange.We got a margarita which I believe had jalapeno in it, as well as the strawberry cocktail. The strawberry was definitely the favorite of the two - it had a very pleasant fruitiness to it that made the drink quite delicious. I wasn't the biggest fan of the jalapeno in the margarita, but it was still good to try.

One of my favorite spots in the city! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the cheeseburger on the menu is incredibly and the vibes of the place are just what I'm looking for in a a place to decompress and hangout with my friends

Gold Bar is an ambient + chic neighborhood bar and has a sizeable menu of boozy drinks and hearty food items! Last time I came here with friends, we also ordered food, which I recall being quite appetizing and decadent. For drinks, if you prefer something on the sweeter end, blue drank essentially is a boozy juice punch! My friends also ordered strawberry fields and a slushie, which were stronger drinks.On Friday nights, DJs perform in the back while the bar is located upfront, making it an ideal spot for both socializing and relaxing. Gold Bar is overall a nice place to unwind n lounge in the Capitol Hill area with drinks!

Gold Bar is a small bar located in capital hill. Great place to start bar hopping for the night. The space is very small and if crowded, can be a bit hard to find space to chill at. The top level has bar seating and a couch. Going down the stairs, there are two more seating areas and only 2 single bathrooms. It's a very chill bar but turns up the mood around 10pm with more upbeat music. Drinks are okay :) the place looks pretty dope though! Has cool art, a disco ball and red light.

Estelle knows how to serve everything, from a Pacifico to the most sophisticated mixed drink! 10/10

We had my boyfriend's 30th birthday here and had a wonderful time! The staff was helpful in securing the space we needed, helping set up, and making sure all of us were taken care of. Some of our group ate food, most drank, and we even ordered a round of shooters that were recommended by staff. Everyone was happy with the options there. They helped set up cake and cut cake for us. Overall great birthday, he was very happy and it was a seamless process for me!

I was really excited to try out Gold Bar and was really pleased that they created such a great place. This is in the location Dacha Diner used to be--but much different layout.Outside, they created a nice are with a couple of benches. I am not sure how often service gets out there, so you may want to go to the bar.The inside kind of eclectic, but also very cozy. As we entered, we were given a friendly greeting by the bartender and picked up some menus. There are many comfy couches and it is set up well for large groups.We started with drinks. I had something called a Pisco Punch and my friend had the Blood In, Blood out. Both were excellent with really complex flavors--I had not had anything like the Punch before. It was hard to pull out any specific flavors, but really tasty.When we went there it looked like they did not have the frier working yet, so the menu was a little limited. It is a nice menu with a lot of comfort food. We ended up having the hummus. It says it is a black eyed pea hummus, but not much different than chickpeas. The veggies were really great, particularly the cauliflower and asparagus. I am eager to go back and try the meatballs or pork belly sando.We will be back often and I hope many people give this place a try.

Cody and Estelle have both made my experience here amazing and I appreciate it so much considering i am new to the city and they have made me feel so much at home!! I am definitely coming back here!

Loved this place ! The bartender I believe used to live in the Bayyy so we were like heyyyyyy . Visiting from out of town this was one of the recommended places to come on a Thursday ! I love the snacks , nice ambiance . I love the idea of the bar area being gold. My best friend pointed that out lol . See you guys again soon !
