My fiancé and I purchased a meal at this restaurant. You can dine in or take to go. We purchased a calzone and a salad. The calzone well seasoned, very flavorful, it was made with love and the salad fresh /crisp. Service was amazing! Everyone was friendly and respectful. We've been to many place for calzones and this was the best we've ever had. We will return the next time we're in San Diego.

I have become a weekly regular since I work nearby so I can attest that they offer the next best thing to packing my own lunch. I especially love that they remain open late and also on the weekends. I used to frequent Grab & Go until Giovanni's knocked them off my list!I love the service, the portions, and the food overall. For a fast casual restaurant when you're working nearby or just passing through, I wouldn't pass them up. They are the best and quite frankly the only option of this sort in the immediate area. I always stick to my massive salads that I modify by adding protein but my coworkers love their calzones. They also sell pizza by the slice combos and they offer a variety of subs which outclass the ones next door. Consider me a loyal :)

Giovannis is a no frills quick service restaurant located downtown near the trolley station. They have a decent selection of slices available at lunchtime. The pizza was tasty and I would eat it again but maybe take it to go. There is a lot of transient activity in the area around the restaurant and I didn't enjoy seeing homeless watching me eat from outside. It's walking distance from the courthouses if you have jury duty.

I stayed at a nearby hotel and walked over here for lunch. It wasn't busy and I ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza and a soda. The staff here were friendly and I only waited a few minutes before the slices were ready. There's limited seating inside but since it wasn't busy, I was able to sit down and eat rather than bringing it back to the hotel. The two slices of pepperoni pizza were good and made me comfortably full since they were pretty large slices. It definitely was tempting to order more slices. Overall, good pizza here and I would recommend it.

3 pieces pizza by the slice. Pepperoni, Supreme, Hawaiian... practically no sauce, super dry. Pineapple was even bland and not sweet or juicy. Got it to go, asked for parmessian, lady told me it was on the table. Asked again for packets, since I was taking it to go, gave me one of each like I was putting her out with a second glance and final defeat, like "fine"... Shouldn't have tipped at check out! Go next door for a quick bite if you need to.

It was a night not to cook. We decided to bring in pizza. We have tried a few of them in our neighborhood that were fair. So we decided to try a local place. Giovanni's had an interesting menu.. we ordered a Caesar salad and a 14" pie with cheese and sausage. The salad for two was very big. We had enough for dinner the next night. The pizza was very good. We ordered the food to be delivered. I was kept informed of when it would be delivered. It was about 5 minutes late from the outside of the high end of the range. Not too bad. The one thing that might put this review into perspective is that I was born and raised in NY City. They make the best pizza I have ever tasted. The Giovanni's pie was good, but not quite up to my NY standards.

I did not expect to find a very solid pizza joint in the middle of a trolley station. We ended up coming here four times over the five days of Comic-Con to snag a slice for our kid, and 2/4 times to also feed us. This was a good silver lining of having our hotel slightly out in the boonies.This is a "order a slice and they'll refire it in the big Baker's Pride ovens" type of joint, which I enjoy. Would return.

Giovanni's went above and beyond. For Valentine's Day, they shaped one of their awesome pies into a heart and delivered to my boyfriend while I was at work.
