Gilt Bar

The food at Gilt Bar was insanely good I can officially say I get the hype and I have to tell you about our al fresco dinner there!! We decided on a date night at Gilt Bar. I was craving a pasta alla vodka and a juicy burger. I was incredibly delighted by what we were served! We shared the Vodka Rigatoni and the Double Wagyu Cheeseburger. The Vodka Rigatoni was exactly what I was looking for Saturday night. It was the perfect amount of sauce and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The only thing I wish was that there was more pasta! The Double Wagyu Cheeseburger was one of the best burgers I've had in a while! The fries that accompanied the cheeseburger were such a treat too! They were crispy but still soft and the sauce served with them was the cherry on top. Pro Tip: Dip the fries in the pasta sauce!! And if you're even more wild - dip them in the fry sauce and the pasta sauce! It blew my mind! For dessert we order the cookie skillet because you really can't pass up a cookie skillet! I'm so glad we chose it! The cookie was filled with so many chocolate chips. The vanilla bean iced cream was so refreshing and delicious.The entire meal was honestly a 10/10 in my books We sat on the patio and while there was a decent amount of foot traffic due to all of the restaurants nearby, it was still a super intimate and romantic dinner. I've never eaten at Bavette's, Trivioli Tavern, Au Cheval, or Small Cheval but now I feel like I basically have - which is also a plus! P.S. - Head down the stairs inside and you'll find yourself in a hallway lined with photobooth strips and the culprit themselves! The photobooth is only $5 and you get 2 photo strips. You can choose to keep them both or leave one on the wall! I hope you enjoy Gilt Bar just as much as my husband and I did on our staycation date night!

We truly enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant/bar. It was very busy which made the service all the more impressive! The restaurant (restrooms too) was very clean and nicely arranged.The food!!! We started with the spinach filled mushrooms...perfectly done and creative. We definitely over ordered but it's hard to pass on nicely prepared mushrooms! The ricotta gnocchi is one of the best dishes I've had in my life! It was also very filling! We had the wagyuu (sp) burger and it was great too. We were full at this point so we got dessert to take back to the hotel with us. The carrot cake was amazing.I highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the excellent service!

Got last minute reservations and got to come here on a Saturday night. Definitely a good vibey place for dinner and drinks. It's dimly lit and the interior is beautifully decorated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. As busy as it was, the team definitely made an effort to make sure our party was taken care of. Highly recommend their cocktails. Highlight dish for me was the Truffle Pasta - It's so simple yet so flavorful and SO memorable. The pasta itself is fresh and chewy, and the added truffle sauce was *chefs kiss*.

I cannot recommend this place enough. A stunning gem. My boyfriend doesn't like raw foods or capers - LOVED the tartar. He said the burger was one of the best he's had and their vodka rigatoni is better than Carbone's. Ambiance is immaculate.

definitely been to better restaurants food wise. not saying the food was bad but you go here for the whole experience. the ambiance is incredible especially for a cozy spot in the winter and the service was good! we got quite a few dishes. the best were the mussels and onion rings (with the sauce).

We recently swung by Gilt Bar on a Friday evening to enjoy their happy hour. We ordered two espresso martinis and a dirty martini. My friends loved the espresso martini. Dirty martini is not for all, I personally loved it as it was perfect sour sip that I enjoy, my friends did not like it as much. We also ordered sharable like stuffed mushrooms and a Chicken slider. I did not really like the stuffed mushroom as much, it was pretty average. My friends shared the slider and they enjoyed it. Gilt bar has a lot of seating space, they even have a speakeasy on the bottom floor which I'll surely like to try on my next visit. P.S. They have a photo booth at the lower floor of the bar which is pretty cute! Many people have clicked photographs and pinned it on the walls which a nice way to remember good times!

We sat on the patio in the evening, there wasn't too much street traffic so it was nice. None of the starters looked great to us so we just got mains. The pasta was AMAZING!!!! It was sooo good. Good portions as well, I did not leave hungry. The vodka rigatoni had a nice thick noodle that was perfectly cooked. Spicy orecchiette was so good, the sausage was super good and usually when I get these types of pasta the olive oil is overpowering but not with this one! It was so good and very well balanced ingredients. I also like that they have a carafe of wine for $19, great deal. Service was ok!

From the beginning to the end, Gilt is one of my favorite restaurants I've ever eaten at.Pros:- Service is on it and always makes sure you're taken care of.- The vibe is perfect. It's dark and the Victorian wallpaper makes you feel cozy. - The food is amazing. I had the spicy shrimp pasta and I've never had anything like it. The heat builds in a pleasant way and the breadcrumbs give it a great crunch.- They make you feel special. I came for my anniversary and it was acknowledged several times. Even complimentary champagne and dessert. - The skillet cookie was phenomenal. It melts in your mouth.Cons:- N/AWhile in the Windy City, my wife chose this place as the number one place she wanted to go for dining. Man, this was a home run. We had onion rings during happy hour which were $8. Did I mention this a Michelin Star restaurant? Can you even go to an Applebees and get onion rings for $8 anymore?!?!?!? Happy hour was popping. $8 onion rings and $7 Highballs. Also, the house wine was $6 a glass. Those prices can't be beat.Of course the onion rings and sauce were delicious. My wife had the vodka rigatoni and I had some and boy.....you can tell that's handmade pasta. My spicy shrimp was to die for. If you can handle heat, (mildly honestly) get this. The contrast in flavors and textures hit. Make yourself a reservation and come here.

As far as pasta goes, this place is really solid. I wouldn't wait more than an hour in line, but it would be worth making a reservation. We got the spicy shrimp pasta and the truffle bucatini pasta. The truffle bucatini was well seasoned and the pasta was cooked perfectly (in my opinion). The pastas were priced at $20-$25 which I found really reasonable for a homemade pasta.

I had my wedding reception here. I talked thoroughly with Ann and Allie. They answered all of my questions tirelessly. Everyone spoke so highly of the food and service. I couldn't ask for me. I am so appreciative of them for everything. I wished the photobooth was working, but that is such a small thing. Thank you so much to everyone who worked to make a magical night. The food and the cocktails were divine.
