I've been going to Gibsons Italia for six years now and it just keeps getting better and better. I checked my Google Cal today and realized I've been there 42 times, wow. The place just can't be beat. The food, the entire staff, the view, the vibes, all of it, absolutely pure Chicago.

We celebrated our anniversary at Gibson's Italia and had a mixed experience. The steak, although billed as their signature style, was extra charred and tasted quite burnt, which was a bit disappointing. The pasta, while good, could have been creamier to enhance its flavor. We were also a little let down that we weren't seated on the top floor as we had hoped, so the view didn't quite live up to our expectations.On a positive note, the fries were delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. To top off the evening, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary chocolate cake dessert. The highlight of the meal was definitely the arancini, which stood out as the best dish of the night. Despite a few drawbacks, the overall experience was enjoyable, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches from the staff.

Incredible meal if you're looking for a high scale Italian- this is the place to go. I came here for my birthday / Father's Day and it was absolutely incredible. It's definitely one of the more pricey Italian places in the city, but the service and food makes up for it. Our favorite thing we ordered was the truffle potato- unreal!

High class and an amazing view of the river! They have a floor with a bar, a dining floor, and a rooftop bar floor that you can use for events. Impeccable service. Everything was delicious. You must try the baked alaska!!!!! Out of this world tasty.

"Double Date" night with my husband and an old friend and her husband. We came on a Tuesday and it was PACKED. The views are super pretty and the service is excellent.I'm not really a steak person so I got the short rib pasta. It was tender and tomatoey. Good portion size. My friend and her husband split a steak and the raviolo. She didn't particularly enjoy the raviolo because she wasn't expecting the egg yolk to be inside but they really liked the steak. My husband had the octopus which he enjoyed. I also have to compliment the arancini which was the best and came in a cream sauce . Yum

Came here for a dinner date with hubby on 3/3/24. I didn't know that Gibson's had an Italian restaurant so I was excited to try it. I always wanted to go to a Gibson's restaurant and this was my chance.Walk in and I was totally WOWED!! The restaurant is so beautiful! The views are amazing! They seated us at a cozy table for two where you are sitting right next to each other which was super romantic!We had the absolute BEST waiter - STEELE!!! He was phenomenal from beginning to end!Everything about this restaurant was stellar - the suits the waitstaff wore, the ambiance, the food!!! There wasn't anything mediocre about this place at all!A man proposed to his girlfriend that night which was great to see. The noise level is perfect, not too loud and not too quiet.I cannot wait to come back and this time we will sit by the window to enjoy the spectacular views. Kudos to this establishment for having an Italian version as I love Italian. We must have Steele as our waiter when we return! If you really want to impress someone, this is the place and you can thank me later, haha! Thank you so much Gibson's Italia for a memorable experience!

AN ABSOLUTE TREAT best risotto I've had - creamy, rich, luxurious, scallops cooked to perfection and rice had a wonderful texture Their double baked potato was to die for - definitely very heavy on the cream/dairy but so so goodWarm focaccia had a wonderful crust and was perfectly soft in the center.Service was just okay -- we were celebrating a birthday but while we watched the table next to us get well wishes and a complimentary dessert at the end, there was no mention of anything to us which was a little bit of a downer! We don't expect free things but even a mention/well wish would've been nice!

This was our second visit. In our first we ate in the dining room. The food was exceptional and the service was excellent. This time we ate in the bar. Again the food was excellent. Service was okay. Our server was training another and lacked attention and her interactions were lacking and minimal. Asked to use the bathroom and was directed to some near the bar. Both occupied with a line including employees. An employee exited one restroom and stated she was cleaning. She told the employees they should use 3rd floor bathrooms to change. They didn't. When the other bathroom opened another employee exited after changing clothes. She went into clean. She exited and the employee in front of me let me use the facility. After she cleaned there was still a hanger laying in the floor.

Gibsons was one of my very favorite places I went to in Chicago during my bachelorette party. The service was top notch and impeccable, the ambiance was gorgeous and the food was delectable. The treatment was so sweet and every thing I had was yummy.Some of the items we tried and loved were:*truffle fries - delicious, crispy and flavorful, I could not stop munching on them *beet salad - this was so refreshing and delectable, I loved this and how fresh it was. I would definitely order this again*focaccia bread with ricotta dip - super freshly made with the most yummy dip! Definitely a must order* cacio e Pepe pasta - this was on the creamy side but more okay, my least favorite pasta* rigatoni - this pasta was delicious and so flavorful in the tomato sauce. Enjoyed this thoroughly *stuffed pasta - this was cheesy and creamy whileDelicious and not too heavy. I really enjoyed this* scallop risotto - this was super yummy and the scallops were perfectly seared. Enjoyed every bite*brussel sprouts - these were crispy and flavorful. Loved the different textures *baked Alaska dessert - this was super unique and we enjoyed this a lot* chocolate tarte cake with ice cream - they brought this surprise dessert out for me in the end and I loved it so much. Every bite was delicious and went so well togetherI loved my experience here and would encourage all to go and check it out!!

So our friends totally splurged for our early 20 year anniversary and we went through all of Gibson's most delicious things, methinks. Overall, as the name implies, the Italian fares were actually the best. Service was stellar, but expected with the vibes inside. Vibes were also amazing, with a great view of the cityscape (though we were seated too far away from the windows to enjoy it). And as expensive as this place is, it was packed full with happy customers. While waiting to be seated, I saw one of the greeters at the entrance floor sneak in some instant cup noodles lol. I tatally called her out and joked about it. I thought it was pretty funny, but the incident also made the place seem more human. Caesar saladNothing outstanding. Just a caesar. Same goes to the fries.Ravioli Carbonara and Spicy rigatoniSpicy rigatoni was great, but the raviolo carbonara was A-mazing. I'd come back just to have the ravioli again, without anything else. Egg yolk oozed out from inside, and it had a perfect amount of everything that makes a perfect ravioli. This is coming from a Korean gal who loves mandu more than Italian any day of the week. Except if it's at Gibson's. Crispy brussels sprouts It looks delicious, but it wasn't as good as my favorites in town. Mini royal platterI didn't think the lobster was as great as the king crab, but friend thought the opposite. So go figure. Shrimp was totally tasty. Oysters themselves weren't the most, bestest I've had, but good. Came with the cutest little tabasco bottle ever. Wagyu beef tartareOK, ignore what I had said about coming back only for the Ravioli. I'm coming back for this tartare too. Which reminds me...Focaccia breadI also need to go back for this bread. Mind you, I'm on keto. Lol. But I'm still going back for this bread, the ravioli, and the tartare.Veal milanese, porterhouseVeal was ok, but I've had much better Milanese. Porterhouse you can't go wrong with... And by this time we were so full that I'm afraid I'm not being totally just, but there it is. Corkage fee was $30. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice creamI thought they were offering us this dessert on the house because it was our 20th anniversary and we had ordered so much food already, but no. In fact, for having said this was such a special occasion, there wasn't much congratulations or special treatment for it. The cake was really good though. So recap - go back on a non-special day just to have their focaccia bread, ravioli, and tartare. And make a reservation for a window seat.
