What happened?!?!! It's been close to 20 years since I've been here. This restaurant used to be amazing! We came today and were unimpressed. They no longer serve fresh pasta My linguine tasted like it was out of a box. The food is overall below average. Save yourself the wait in line and interaction with the curmudgeon staff members. It's not like it was before covid.Waiting in line to get mediocre food when, North End is full of better options, is not my strong idea of a good time. Save yourself the trip. Won't be coming back.

Compared to the myriad of Italian pasta restaurants in the North End, Giacomo's offers a combination of accessible pricing, large portion sizes, and a casual dining atmosphere. Most pastas are in the mid $20s (even many of the seafood ones). Linguini has the largest range of customization - pick a protein and a sauce.I ordered the clam linguini ($24) in fra diavolo sauce (a spicy lobster based red sauce). The sauce tasted both a bit smoky with the sweet savoriness from seafood. It possessed a touch of heat, which would only bother those sensitive to spicy foods (fine for me; wasn't expecting a hot ones challenge).Note that this establishment only accepts cash.

Exquisite experience, flavorful food, wonderful service and a lovely little view while we ate. My wife and her friend ordered the house special for 2 and they absolutely loved it and devoured it. I ordered the shrimp linguine and it was phenomenal. We all ordered the spicy sauce you can select from when choosing your pasta. The wait time is a little long as we waited about an hour and a half in line outside, so get there early as it's no reservations. However, well worth the wait for the experience and the food!

What a wonderful dining experience at Giacomo's in Boston's North End! There are so many amazing restaurants in the North End, but the reviews for Giacomo's were so high that I had to give it a try. I initially tried to visit during the long Labor Day weekend, but the line went down the block, so I decided to come back another day. I'm glad I did! I only ended up waiting a few minutes before being seated.I ordered 1 of the specials lobster and shrimp in a scampi sauce over their homemade fusilli pasta, and it was absolutely delicious. Giacomo's is a cash-only establishment, but there's an ATM within the restaurant, which is very convenient. It a fantastic, homemade pasta and sauces that are worth the wait.

First of: this place is CASH ONLY and there's no AC. There is an ATM inside and across the street, and you may end up being seated at a 4 top with strangers aka new friends if you're not a party of 4. The place is VERY cozy! That said, it's definitely good food!! The garlic bread was crunchy and crispy and full of garlic! We also had the caprese salad which was great. The right amount of seasoning and balsamic vinegar. The dates were a strange touch, but we enjoyed the salad nonetheless.I had the francomo sauce and it was quite tasty. I wasn't too sure after the first bite and didn't detect much cream, but it was a nice spice level to it, and it was definitely a generous portion! My friend's chicken parm was also great with a gigantic piece of chicken. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was charming and kind. Service was prompt and our glasses were never empty, our leftovers were kindly and well "doggy bagged" for us. We paid right around $100 for two apps, two entrees, and two drinks, with tip.Definitely worth checking out, especially if you enjoy seafood with your pasta.

I came to Giacomo's on a trip to Boston with my boyfriend after getting the recommendation from someone who lived in Boston for years. There's a long line and they only take cash but it's worth the wait! This place is very small and seating is scarce (bathrooms are very tiny too) and the cramped space sometimes makes it feel like the staff is watching over your shoulder... even though they probably don't mean to!We got a tiny spot that we LOVED-- overlooking the kitchen so we could watch them prepare everything. We seriously LOVED the spot and the experience so much that we've told probably 30 other people about this place. My boyfriend got the shrimp fra diavolo and i got the fettucine with peas and cream. We ended up swapping our meals and taking them to go (they have chinese takeout containers which was quirky but we loved it)... though the reason we had to take our food to go is because i began to not feel well during the meal.On a recent business trip to Boston I returned to Giacomo's and got the same dish for lunch, not thinking much of my last experience with the dish. I again began to feel a little queasy and took my food to go to enjoy in my hotel room that night. Turns out I got food poisoning from the dish it was delicious but not worth the associated illness!Even so... I'm still giving Giacomo's 3 stars because the food poisoning was bad but we still had such a good time the first time we visited! Just dont get the dish i got... twice!

Great food! Wait was not long. I have had better in the North End. But the experience was lovely, the service was decent and the food was plenty.

After spending 2 weeks in Italy traveling across the country I can say that Giacomo's produces high quality Italian food that would rival many of the restaurants we went to in Italy. The food was delicious, our waiter was very friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. We did have a long wait to get in, but that just speaks to the quality of the food and it was definitely worth the wait!

We waited for 40 mins ++ and the queue system was unclear as some people that just came got admitted earlier than my group, not sure if they have reservation but looks like they didn't. The server responded impatiently when we asked more about the menu. Food was pretty good but the overall experience was not pleasant.
