I don't get the love for this place. There was basically no AC when we went on a 95 degree evening. It was uncomfortable inside, but they did keep the water coming. They do have a lot of spirits and a good size wine list. Bartender was personable. The cocktails were terribly meh. Mint Julep was good. Old Fashioned was literally undrinkable. It was the worst I've ever had. I never waste a drink, but I left this one full. Cocktail menu wasn't very exciting. Mezcal dragonfruit drink was ok but weak. Gin cocktail was pretty good. We didn't eat so can't speak to the food. If you happen to be in the area and need to kill time, you can stop in for a drink, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

After dinner on my most recent visit to Nashville, stopped in to give my liver a little treat. So glad I did. Had a few pours I hadn't had, nor even heard about. Guess I need to go out drinking more often ... See pics of the pours I had. Also, of the dessert I had. Enjoyed 'em all. Down to the last drop. So, I'll just say service was excellent. Both tenders were happy to help find me pours I hadn't had. Found two and would have had more however, they were closing up and one of my friends hit his limit. They were friendly and the pours were generous - again, see pics. And they were happy to answer my friends' questions while I sat back and enjoyed my pours and dessert.I can't speak on parking as we were being responsible and utilizing a rideshare. I also didn't look for a lot or what the signs read for the few cars I did notice parked on the street. I liked that the place had more a lounge feel. Relaxed, quiet and chill. It's a place I'd definitely make a return visit to.

This is a really nice whiskey bar right below a restaurant called The 404 Kitchen. They had a really incredible cocktail menu along with a very long and exciting whiskey list. My wife and I had a blast trying a variety of their signature drinks and there wasn't a single one that we didn't like. My wife loved the Who Are You because it had a very relaxing, baking spice flavor courtesy of the chai that was in it. I really enjoyed the Golden Afternoon for its up front smokey flavor, contrasted with a nice sweetness to balance it out and help it go down smooth. The only issue we had here was with the service. I don't know if the main bartender was burnt out or something, but he was really unfriendly and kept forgetting about us. Luckily, there were two other people working with him on and off most of the night that helped take care of us and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. The main bartender was really weird too, he made this huge fuss about seeing our IDs after we ordered, which is never an issue, we're at a bar, we got them out, and he never came and checked them. It was really weird, because he was like he was a 6/10 level of hostility at our first interaction, simply over asking for our IDs, which we had literally no issue with showing them and while we got them out, he just left and didn't come back. He left me standing at the bar waiting for our drinks for about 20 minutes and only brought one of the drinks, dropped it off and immediately walked away. Luckily, one of the other bartenders noticed me just standing there and got me my drink. At first, I thought his service was bad because it was busy in the beginning, but as the evening went on, the crowd thinned out and he was still really slow and inhospitable. It really killed the vibe of what would otherwise be a 5/5 bar. Overall, the drinks are awesome, but the service is hit or miss depending on who you get.

Great selection of bourbons and other spirits! I had tried many different bourbons, before my visit. Alexa gave me a great education on Kentucky bourbons. After knowing what I had tried, before, and knowing what I like, she guided me to some wonderful bourbons. This will be my "place," when I return to Louisville!

Gerties bar sits below the 404 Kitchen and serves their entire menu. We were there for a "burger madness" challenge a few friends created (it was supposed to be like March madness, but you can't eliminate the number of burger places in a single month unless you want your doctor to freak about you cholesterol, so this one is still going in October). I really like the atmosphere. Not too dim and not too bright. Rather large bar with ample seating around the edges and a few tables for crowds that prefer that option. The service was also good, but the place might do better with more than 2 bartenders (I say "might" as one of the bartenders was new and still learning their ropes). Cocktails? Interesting. I started with the old fashioned, which is a very unique take on the drink, using both brown butter and pecan syrup. The base is knob creek bonded bourbon, which works nicely in the cocktail. I also tried the Manhattan, which uses Sazerac rye and comes in a choice of mild, medium or Nashville hot. I love spicy, but went with the middle, which I was glad (a hot Manhattan is a nice idea, but would have lost something in translation at the full heat). If I had paid attention, I would have likely gone with the Demon Brewin, as it has an absinthe rinse. NOTE: The beer selection is rather meh and would not easily pair with the dinner choices. The whiskey selection is far more extensive.Food? High quality ingredients, but between the salt, the smoke, and the truffle the burger was WAY over the top. So rich I felt like a millionaire, but a richness that had me getting a take home and feeling more like a pauper. I saved the second half, but the experience was still very similar. In short, they overthought the burger and ended up going too far. From talking to people who had eaten their last night and were just in for dessert, the steak and rabbit leg were both much better. My review is more for the bar than the food. On the food side, despite being upscale, if the burger is representative, I would rank it average, giving some benefit of the doubt other items are better (my burger was a 2). On the bar side, it is a bit pricier than some options, even the gulch, but the cocktails are unique and the bar staff was fun to interact with. Add on a nice vibe, and definitely something in the 4 star range.

This place was super cute and the drinks were creative and delish. The restaurant upstairs is great and they serve food from the restaurant at this bar.

Stopped in here on a recent Friday night during me and Wifey's Nashville adventure. In the Gulch.Small place next to 404 Kitchen. HUGE whiskey selection. Food available from the 404. Wifey and I got the brussels sprouts (excellent), arugula salad (very good), green salad (excellent). Also sampled the 404 Old Fashioned and the Canceled Plans. The OF was different and was ok. Not my exact cup of tea, but decent. Wifey's drink (Canceled Plans) was good. Service was good, though a little slow. Closes up at 10:00pm, during covid anyway. Cool, little place.

This bar is on the first floor and inside 404 Kitchen. If you see that sign on a door you're there, and the Gertie's Bar sign is a small plaque on the wall. This is a chill low-key bar and that's just the way I like it.My first drink was the miracle man ($12) which was complex and interesting. When I was sipping on it I told the bartender Cameron that I did not expect that kind of flavor given the ingredients for the drink. He then told me that there's actually an ingredient not on the menu that is in the drink which was pimento bitters. I figured there was something different from it and Cameron commended me for finding it. He was impressed that I knew that there was something in the drink that wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu. He commended my palate... or was it my drinking problem? My second drink was the land ho! ($12) which I asked Cameron to pull back the ginger a bit. He did that and it basically tasted like a fizzy orange juice and he agreed.I had some pretty good conversations with Cameron and he was really cool and nice. During the miracle man conversation I even asked him if I could try the pimento bitters just to see what it tastes like and how it would completely change the taste of the drink.I had a grand ole time here!

Best mixologist in Nashville. Brandon, Hannah and Tristen are the best. We're hear every Wednesday and without fail they are the most experienced, friendly and personal there are in the business. Brandon knows his whisky history which is a rarity.
