Gere-a-Deli

From Seattle but this place was recommended by a local. Got the California BLT and an almond brownie. Both were amazing. Other folks recommended the cookie and the panda bear... will have to try next time!

Our favorite sandwiches are the Gobbler and the tuna melt. We also love the mango chicken curry salad, the berry cobbler, and the fluffy cheesecake. Sometimes my partner and I sneak out and take our lunch break here on Friday, and we look around at the vintage decor and all the old people, and we say, "this is like a preview of what it will be like to grow old together." But truly, if the oldest/wisest people in town make this their regular spot, there's a good reason. And everyone in town knows that if you get invited to a party catered by Gere-a-Deli, you don't want to miss it! (Lemon cake. It's all about the catered lemon cake.) Service is quick and friendly.

Pretty busy at lunch time, they do get the food out fairly quick though! They have a lot of delicious baked goods. I got the cheesecake, it's not as thick as you'd usually find at Cheesecake Factory. I also got a chocolate chip cookie which was soft and huge! As well as the panda cake, the chocolate cake and chocolate was a great convo but the white filling thing was way too sweet. I got a whole some like it hot sandwich and I didn't realize how large it was. I ended up eating just a 1/4 of it at the time. It was nice it was cut in 4th. Delicious flavor and nicely toasted bread.

We have been thinking about coming here for years and finally made it today! It's a bit overwhelming to walk into on a Friday at lunch. We ordered a "some like it hot" and an Italian sub both 6". These sandwiches are pretty substantial! We both got a side of chips. Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful. Be aware that when you come in, you will need to send someone over to find a table and it's family style seating so get ready for loud and crowded. The sandwiches are worth it.

Food: 3/5. All of the food was inexpensive and quick to come out. Tuscan chicken ciabatta: 2/5. The chicken is dry/not very flavorful, and the size of the chunks make it hard to eat an even ratio of chicken to veggie in every bite. Those who don't love mayo (me), beware: there's a lot of it on this sandwich. The rest of the veggies are lovely. Clam chowder: 3/5. The amount of clams included is very generous, but the soup is much thinner and less flavorful than I'd like it to be. Green giant sandwich: 5/5. Yum! The avocado portion is generous, and the vegetables are hearty. I love the addition of sprouts. Blueberry scone: 4/5. Very inexpensive and not too sweet. Service and atmosphere: 5/5. Everyone who works here is friendly and very helpful. I love the large dining area and funky, retro decor.

Stopped in for a birthday lunch after strolling the shops. Fast service and great food. Clam chowder was great tasting, though we prefer thicker. Sandwiches are generous, a half was more than enough. Cookies as big as your hand. It's always a testament to how good a place is when it's humming with activity. Even have beer on tap!P.S. While the cookie was huge, we were not overwhelmed by the taste, it just seemed meh to us. That being said, it's still a great place and we'll definitely be back again!

If you're in Anacortes this place is a must for lunch. I love a good deli and this place has it all. Friendly service, amazing sandwiches and chowders. Get some chowder here! I never got a dessert while here as I was trying to watch my sweet intake but now I slap myself everyday for not trying some. They looked crazy good. Typical deli atmosphere, little loud but who cares when the sammiches are this good.

A fun, airy place with great friendly service, a huge selection of sandwiches and other lunch fare such as individual quiches and salads. We had a BLT, an Italian sub, a quinoa salad, and a quiche Lorraine, and they were all deemed excellent by our party. The desserts looked good but we passed since we had dessert at home. I particularly loved the old-style decor touches, a fantastic old neon sign inside.

Love this deli! We eat here every time we're in town. Sandwiches and salads are the best. I must say they need to spice up their coleslaw and make it creamier.
