Genteel Coffee

Great coffee, fantastic staff, and a super cute, trendy space. We came here after a friend recommended it as his almost-daily coffee stop.We tried the cold brew and the foxtrot iced Latté, both were delicious. I really love that they have house made syrups and ethically source their beans.The branding here is also beautiful, and really makes them stand out among other local spots. Will recommend this place to friends and make this a frequent stop when we're in town! 10/10

Today was packed from the outside and within. I think there was an event happening! Despite them being so full, the workers were full of energy and smiles. They greeted us and presented the different menus. Looking at the wall on the right as we walked in they had the basic menu (in black and white) and then in small colored posters (yellow, orange, white)-- the specialty drinks. I went with an Iced Foxtrot ($6.00)--it's a latte with house made syrup of cinnamon, cardamom, and orange extract. I think it was good, the orange extract really came through and the spices were quite subtle. I wish there was more oomph of cardamom. There's two shots of espresso in it but it doesn't taste very strong (mainly taste the orange extract). I liked the choice of ice a lot. It's a fun mix, I think an addition of rosemary would make a killer latte combo though. 7.5/10 My brother ordered an Iced Vixen with oat milk ($7.00), this is activated charcoal latte that's sweetened with agave. He said it tasted average and the charcoal didn't add much to it. Just the difference in color which makes sense for the name "Vixen." Oat milk is $1 extra. The space is pretty small, but the way they designed the seating was smart! Outside on the side of the place it feels narrow. We sat opposite from the ordering area (by the window) and I absolutely adored this spot!! A great "people watching" spot. And would be a cool place to take some car pics (motion photography!). The drinks came out with little wait time, the bar was very organized, great lively environment, and quality was good. Come by and try out Genteel Coffee in North Park!

Friendly people and fantastic coffee bundled up into an industrial-style cafe. Things you should know:I. PARKING You'll have to rely on good ol' street parking for this place. Can be difficult depending on the time of day. II. SERVICESociable and masters at their craft. Shout out to Eric for getting to know my name ~ it wasn't even needed for my order and just simply personalized the experience. On a side note, I noticed they also have merchandise here and a self-serve water station. III. QUALITY Their cortado is pretty spot on ~ you should give it a try..! IV. CAPACITY Fair amount of available indoor and outdoor seating for the late afternoon on a weekend.

I visited the shop for the first time today, arriving at 7:15 AM, but it was still closed despite their advertised opening time of 7:00 AM. This was disappointing.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in NP the charcoal latte is my favorite specialty drink - it's not too sweet and the perfect touch of agave. The spot is really cute and always consistent. They also have a cute outdoor alley to study and chat :)

WARM CUP OF GENTEEL(5 stars)I love me a local coffee shop serving good roasted coffee beans. This place is relatively new to the area, cute shop off of University that can easily be overlooked. A small intimate and cozy indoor space with a side walkway leading to more outdoor space in the back. - COFFEE: quality- PRICE: average- SERVICE: good- AMBIANCE: smallDECAF VANILLA LATTE - i am all about #teamdecaf. I asked if their decaf were SWP (Swiss water processed) and at the time the barista wasn't sure or have not heard of that. It's a way of decaffeinating the beans without chemicals. Later, I went onsite to check the description of their decaf beans... "washed and roasted" basically clued me in that they went through a SWP to decaf the beans! The latte was light (not too much vanilla and mixed in well - I like it like that) and smooth (didn't get any acidic aftertaste) and can taste the faint chocolaty notes of the bean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. JABA APPROVED. Will def be back!

The service is amazing! We had Eric as our server and he was so social and nice. We got the Fox Trot and Den Mother and we loved it. The ambiance is very chill and everyone here is very friendly. They also have the best banana bread!

Great boutique vibe coffee shop with great bakery items like the sourdough blueberry scone I got plus a solid cappuccino. Super let down on the quality of the milk used, which makes me question the quality of the coffee. The milk used was rockview which in many countries would be outlawed due to the antibiotics, hormones, steroids used. All in all good coffee shop to visit as long as you avoid their milk!

I am a lavender latte aficionado. I seek them here locally in SD, and when I travel. Something about that lavender syrup brings me back into a cozy, cuddly and special place. I visited Genteel's per one of my favorite baristas at another coffee shop. She was right; this place is special. I walked in and immediately felt the lightness and airiness of the place. I was greeted with a smile from behind the counter. I decided to order the Lavender Latte hot. It was delicious. I took my latte and sat outside on the "alley patio" long patio. The sun was hitting just right, I took a couple sips and savored my latte until it was gone. Great place, great latte. What else do you need?

The employee who rung me up was very helpful in helping me narrow down a drink on my first visit to Genteel. I ended up getting the Foxtrot. Milk was steamed perfectly. Flavors were cozy without being too sweet. The space was small, but good enough for two. The cold brew was not as good as the latte and on the lighter side for a cold brew.
