Genki Ya - Boston

I stopped in here during a slow part of the day, so I was the only one in there. They had a plethora of vegetarian options, more than I've seen at any other sushi restaurant I've been to, which was super nice. The rolls themselves were good, the one with banana in it was a nice suprise.

Edamame and tempura sweet potato roll were excellent!! Got it delivered to my nearby hotel and was still hot and fresh.

very quick service and options to pay at the table! this is definitely a quieter, more intimate place as there's limited seating. the food is delicious and there's a mix of sushi rolls and other yummy food!

The best sushi with fresh ingredients. I typically get the eel and avocado roll and scallop roll. The scallops have a few sweet taste to them. The eel is actual meat and not fat. The restaurants is typically filled with large parties. Especially the Dedham location since there's plenty of parking. The drink menu is detailed with traditional and crafted drinks. I've tried several of the appetizers which also have great flavor. I've called in my order a few times and had great service.

Definitely one of my favorite sushi places considering I do not eat seafood or meat. It has selected vegetarian options, but in my opinion they are pretty good compared to other places in town. Most of the locations are small and cozy, except for the Boston location. Parking is hard to find considering the location. The service is good but if you sit upstairs and they are busy, it can take a little bit before someone takes your order. Value for Money: The $16 lunch special is a steal! It includes 4 salmon and 4 tuna pieces, plus 5 chef-chosen pieces, along with Miso soup and a salad. If you're seeking variety without breaking the bank, this is your go-to.Freshness Factor: Here's where it gets tricky. The sushi, while not unpleasant, missed the mark on the freshness I hoped for. The rice had a day-old feel, and the accompaniments (wasabi and ginger) lacked the expected punch. The assorted chef's pieces, though a visual delight, echoed the same sentiment.Flavors & Presentation:The flavors were decent, but there's room for improvement. The fish didn't scream 'freshly caught', and the tuna and salmon, while adequate, could be more impactful with fresher ingredients and a more thoughtful presentation.Service:A high point! The staff was swift and courteous, making the dining experience quite pleasant.Final Thoughts:If you're in Boston and craving sushi, Genki Ya could be a decent choice, particularly during dinner when the kitchen is in full swing. It should be a 3 1/2Sushi was fantastic and service was excellent. They accommodated us quickly as we arrived and needed to get in and out quickly to get to a show at TD Garden

Great location for sashimi and Japanese curry. Downside that evening was they didn't have toro for sashimi. All delicious though and would go back when visiting Boston.

Really excellent food, with a good variety and excellent price/quality ratio. Careful and kind waitress for a perfect service. Probably such a quality would deserve a more sophisticated atmosphere, however the overall experience was really excellent. 10/10

NEVER misses with their maki--fresh fish, great rice, beautiful technique. Spider role or any roll with eel are both outstanding.
