**vegetarian review**I went to Geni's in ballard farmers market. It comes highly recommended from a friend so i had to try it. I got the veggie option - which had 2 sides and one injera. Its. really delicious - i think i havent been to a bad ethiopian place ever. The only thing is its quite expensive, even for seattle area. I have been to other local restaurants which are substantially cheaper, so it didnt feel like worth the money. I understand however, the increasing price for ingredients etc farmers market location etc playing its roll, so I would still recommend trying it if you are in the market.

So I had tried the lentils with injera and it was very awesome - nice taste to the injera and the lentils were flavorful, sweet, and soft. What is nice is that the co-owner(?) was providing samples for farmers market visitors to try. I feel like this was an impactful gesture because in the realm of anti-blackness coupled with the financial privilege many of the visitors have, many are wary to consider foods that seem "foreign" and do not challenge their biases.Another perspective is that from what I saw, it was two white adults managing the ordering process which made me curious and their relationship with Ethiopian food. From the website, it looks like the co-owner (different from who I met) is from Ethiopia and created an Ethiopian catering business with the co-owner I met at the market to serve great food to company employees that may hold the perspectives and vast spatial distance to the heart of the Ethiopian community from their residential and working areas. It's very admirable.I feel like the history of the business was important to note in case new visitors are wary of the racial dynamics present at the booth and to know there's someone native to Ethiopia making the food. If you enjoyed the food, please also give the Ethiopian businesses in South Seattle/South King County your support as well!

6.56 rating on a scale of 1 to 10.Food Art: 5, Food Quality: 7, Taste: 7, Selection: 6, Menu: 6, Price 5, Emotional Maturity: 7, Employees: 8, Happy Tummy four hours later: 8.This is a food stall at the University District Farmers Market on Saturdays.Very nice people who are helpful with menu ingredients.I have ordered the vegetarian dish which was very good. Usually I order the Sambusas which are like a samosa, and she used to have the green lentil filling which I really liked, and now has the yellow lentil filling which I also like, wish there was a choice. Chai is hot and very worthwhile on a chilly morning. Makes a perfect breakfast. What did I like: food is fast, hot and tasty, workers are very personable and helpful, pictures of menu items, paper take out containers. What I wish for: slightly lower pricing and they would have tons of customers, green lentil samba option.

Yummy Ethiopian food with awesome staff! I saw the stand for Geni's Ethiopian Corner during the Night Market Festival in the International District, so decided to check them out, especially since they were grilling up veggies and meats that smelled oh so good! For the menu, there were only two options - vegetarian and a beef/meat combination, so went with the meat combination. The meat combination came with beef tibs, injera bread and choice of two sides; I chose kale and lentils. Although there was a line of people waiting for their food, the wait didn't take too long. And before I was given my plate, the chef kindly went over the two different sauces, a mild and spicy sauce that they had in bottles for people to help themselves to. My meal was good! I liked the beef tibs a lot more than I thought I would, as they were sauteed well, making the texture soft and easy to eat. I also liked that the meat was sauteed with onions and jalapenos, adding more spice to it. Kale and lentils were awesome sides! I really enjoyed both of them, but would say the lentils were my favorite part of the whole dish. They had a kind of spice to it, yet there was a nice citrus flavor to it, especially when you added the mild sauce from the bottle because it had a sour-like taste that was yummy! I haven't had much injera bread before, but it was a nice addition to the meal, particularly to soak up the sauce from the lentils and to roll up everything, like in a wrap. Glad to have tried Geni's Ethiopian Corner, as it provides solid Ethiopian food with a lot of flavor for around $12 on the go!

Came across Geni's at the University Village farmer's market on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The aroma emanating from this stall incredible and we had to stop and try it out! Had the doro wot entree - a succulent spiced chicken stew, with injera bread and very flavorful mixed vegetables on the side. We also got a mint green tea to go with our meal, which was minty and refreshing. Can't wait to try the other dishes - this was a definite hit!

One of my favorite food vendors at farmer's markets. Love their platters esp their potatoes but just tried their beef sambusas today. Incredible flakiness and lots of flavorful filling. Even my two year old was taking big bites.

Geni's stand is a nice fixture at the broadway (capitol hill) sunday farmers market. Pretty generous portions of ethiopian classics. Meat or veggie options. The veggie plate comes with gomen wat (kale), dinich wat(potato), mesir wat (lentils) on injera bread with more injera on the side. Injera is made traditional way using teff instead of wheat flour which i think gives the injera more good toothiness. Nice option to try out at the Sunday market on broadway

Amazing food and great owners! A regular stop at the farmer's market! The food is so flavorful, and a decent quantity. The green chutney is quite nice as well, make sure you add it! The chai has interesting aromatics that are different from Indian masala chai, so that was interesting to taste. In the summer they have rosemary lemonade which is good too.The owners are very nice, one week they gave me free samples even though I already had food from another stall! Good people just trying to spread the love of great food!!
