Genesis Mexican Bakery

I love that it's cheap here! I come here every two to three weeks to buy my parents some bread to eat w/ coffee and I end up buying some sort of bread for myself. They're good but the only reason I'm not giving them 5 starts is because the breads are so think. I bought a ham and cheese w/ jalapeños bread but there was barely any ham, cheese or jalapeños. Just a lot of bread. I saw that they have Tostilocos for $4, cheaper than the one on the corner of El Cajon Blvd and Winona, so I'll have to give it a try. Love Tostilocos! The only down side is they only take cash. I'm not one to carry cash.

This place is awesome. For a tiny bakery, they have an assortment of mexican sweet breads. Their bread is sweet but not too sweet and its great with hot coffee. The price is not bad I got three items for less than three dollars and they have fresh ice pops. They also serve tortas and open around 5 am on the weekdays. Great for those of us who work early in the morning. The only downside as mentioned before is that this store is cash only. I will be back to review again with photos, store hours, and possibly an update on the cash situation.

Mexican bakery with standard fare - cheap bread and Mexican-style desserts. I like the $0.25 breads that I can take home and turn into garlic bread. mmm! Or try the banana bread, its ok at room temp and even better chilled and sliced with some coffee. They just started selling chocolate-covered bananas too. If you like american candy bars this will be a healthier alternative at $1. But if you like Ritter sport bars and Scharffen Berger chocolate, pass on this one.

I go to this bakery about once a week in the mornings and they always have freshly baked bread, it goes perfect with some coffee !
