Had to wait to review since I wanted to post my dining in experience first which had excellent service. This is review for my pick up experience via Uber Eats.I was super hungry and G&G is right next to me. I was pretty excited to try their pasta since whenever I passed by outdoor diners throughout the year, it looked and smelled so good! I was in the middle of packing my things so I was definitely not in a presentable state and I was ravenous so I decided to order pick up. There was never a pickup notification and just a "guesstimation" on the app. I headed over, got my food pretty fast, then went back home to eat (2 minute journey overall). I unwrapped my food and was honestly pretty devastated that the $4 side of bread was just the white bread (no focaccia) and that it was stale. I didn't think that pickup would make it okay to give me older bread, as if I did I would have not wanted to pay $4 extra for it.I was super excited to eat the bolognese with it but was even more disappointed that the bolognese was extremely bland. I am pretty sensitive to salt and haven't found anything too bland for me in a while. The pasta was overcooked and the entire texture of the meal was thrown off because of that. It is unfortunate that it was like this as the sauce itself and presentation looked fine. I liked that there were soft carrots and veggies in the sauce, but like I said, it needed some more seasoning or salt.Other dishes such as Chicken Joe probably would be fine for pickup/delivery. Unfortunate that the pasta didn't end up very well for me. I thought since I was right there that it would be fine, but in general pasta is the best eaten right away and I wasn't alerted when it was ready. I am sure everyone would prefer dining in at more expensive places and this is definitely one where you have to go in person for the best experience.

Not worth the reservation, save your money. The steaks are charred or broiled at a extreme heat to get a crust. While that may be appetizing to some, it reminded me of the burnt over done steak my mom used to force feed me as a child. Just for reference, the steak below was rare.I had high hopes for this place. If you're from out of town and come from a place that has good steak, you will probably be disappointed. The sides were delicious however and our server was very attentive and helpful. I can't say the same for the host checking reservations.

Chicago is a city rich in history and Gene &_Georgetti has seen it all. This classic steakhouse has been in business since 1941 and has served politicians, celebrities and everyone in between. It's still going strong serving classic dishes with impeccable service that never disappoints.

I enjoyed Gene & Georgetti...but was I blown away... no. The food was good but nothing impressed me. I would put it as a solid place to eat at and what you see on the menu is what you are going to get. I would explain this as a Mom and Papa Italian joint but the cost not matching the vibe. I am intrigued to try again just to see maybe it was the time of day that we went or what we ordered.

Everything about Gene & Georgetti is amazing! I've been here before and fell in love with the Sausage & Peppers so had to find time to go back on a quick trip to Chicago. This place is authentic Chicago Italian - everything on the menu is great, it's got the dark and moody old school steakhouse vibe with Sinatra playing, and the service is top notch. This is a must-stop if you like great food, great service, and an amazing experience.

Old school Chicago - but in need of a make over on the inside. The food is spectacular! We loved the prosciutto & burrata as an app and I especially enjoyed the tortellini soup! For entrees the ravioli w bolognese is lick the plate spectacular & the filet was cooked to perfection. Even after that we had to try the tiramisu (which my wife loved). Service was perfect and friendly/helpful!We had dinner at 7 pm the night before a day. The front room was full and were seated in the back. There was one very loud table & it was a bit much as they filled the room w noise. Each room could use an update/makeover - it's not classy old, it's just old.

Old school white linen restaurant. Came for lunch. The service was friendly but I had the feeling I was at a Dinosaur of a restaurant. It's very old timey down to crooners of Sinatra, Martin and Bobby Darin playing overhead. Staff are friendly. The noodles of my pasta were incredible but the sauce it was in tasted off. It was okay. $22 for pasta and I left full.

TLDR; atmosphere is cool but food is just fine. For the price, there are much better steakhouses elsewhere. Ordered the 20oz bone in ribeye (2), calamari, caprese salad, mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, fries, and broccolini. The steaks were good and I was happy with them but they weren't anything crazy. The sides and apps weren't that great. One side that stood out was the mushrooms but everything else was just fine. Service was great and the atmosphere was very cool. I had two dirty martinis which were delicious. Overall it was expensive and I don't think it was worth the price. I won't be going back unless someone else really wanted to do. There are much better steakhouses elsewhere in Chicago.
