Had a very nice dinner with my wife and baby. The market fish was fresh caught sole and it was very buttery. We could taste the clams in the new england clam chowder, although it was a touch salty. Also the rotating tap was a great accompaniment.Ambiance was nice, some slight blue lighting and the decor was fresh and inviting. We had a great server, Luke, who provided great recommendations and was prompt in providing service. We also had the pleasure to chat with the owner.

Great location for those coming downtown for a night out or locals just hanging out. Easy to find and right on the corner across from Horton plaza. Host/hostess area up front had friendly staff managing the seating.Large seating area indoors, great looking well stocked bar right by the front, and great decorations. The tables in the back (to the right after entering) have a poor varnish job. This makes the tables feel sticky to the touch which goes against anything you want to experience when eating. Truth is the tables are cleaned by the staff but the varnish was obviously applied in a humid environment which means they all have to be redone to get rid of the sticky feeling. In our area we heard several customers ask about this stickiness which isn't a good thing. Prices for food are pretty high for the quality. I ordered the surf and turf $59 meal, ordered the steak medium (seasoned just ok) and the lobster tail was chewy which I believe is from over cooking, mashed potato's were much colder than the rest of the food. My partner had fish and chips which did taste pretty good. The clam chowder is awesome, the calamari is super good and the presentation is cool. Give those a shot.Drink prices are super low for the area and the bartender we had made great drinks.Service is pretty slow and it took a long time for us to get our drinks for the meal (iced tea and wine). We finally received our drinks after the food came. The staff were super nice but just seemed to have a large area they have to cover and the POS system was having challenges which lead to long wait times. Bathroom was super clean and appeared to have recently been redone. A toss up if we will go again as the cost was pretty high to not leave being completely satisfied.

I was visiting SD and wanted to take my college student daughter for a nice meal somewhere in the Gaslamp area. After reading reviews and looking for some healthier seafood, we chose this restaurant. The food was good, but very overpriced for such small portions. I ordered the catch of the day which was some type of some. It was one very small filet. It came with a smidgen of very good garlic mashed potatoes and mediocre grilled veggies. My daughter ordered the salmon. Much to my surprise she looked at the salmon and said, "is that it?".I rarely write reviews, but be forewarned about the pricey, small portioned dishes. We both left hungry, which is a shame when you spend almost $50 for an entree.

I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because the oysters were blah and you could tell they were low grade likely from a massive oyster farm. The quality just wasn't there. The crab cakes are filler, I would skip. However the salad stood out and it was a very large portion. Oh, how could I forget the truffle fries; they were cooked to perfection. Service was great and ambience nothing exciting.

This is one of my spots to eat in Downtown, when I'm going to a show at the Balboa. It's only a block away, at 4th & Broadway.Happy Hour goes til 5:00, if you can make it in time. I think I've only had Happy Hour specials and dessert in all the times I've been here.I usually get the macadamia calamari and tacos, and fries or chips & guac if someone else is eating with me. The carnitas is the best taco, and It has tons of filling. The Calamari is my favorite of everything I've tried. The butterscotch pudding was really good, but I would probably order it without the caramel next time.Max was my server this time, and he was super helpful & friendly. He offered me suggestions on the tacos, and the desserts (I was bummed they didn't have any cheesecake!) I also heard him making sure that people at his other tables were happy with their meals. The restaurant is a little dark, but you can see what you're eating ok, so that's the important part.Definitely give them a try if you're in the area!

My experience coming here for lunch was a good one. This spot is right across from Horton Plaza with a large interior and nice bar right inside the doors. They have a pretty good lunch menu with lunch specials. It appeared there was only one server for the whole restaurant which was fine since there were only a few tables. The ordering was quick however they ran out of the skirt steak that one of my coworkers ordered and instead substituted the filet mignon which was very nice of them. At the end of our meal, Everyone said they enjoyed their food and my crab roll was no exception - very solid plus the fries were good! I am not sure how it is at night but judging from the bar set up, seems like it might get crowded.

We were in the area and decided to give this place a try after looking at their lunch special menu as we were passing by. It was pretty empty and quiet as we walked in, we were seated right away. I ordered from the $16 lunch combo, I had the 2 street tacos (fish and shrimp) and the rainbow salad. The tacos were tiny, but they were packed with meat that was chewey and rubbery, and had lots of guac. The salad was nothing special. My husband ordered a fish burrito that was mostly filled with fries. We were not really impressed with this place, and were very disappointed since they are in a prime location downtown.

Stopped in for a quick lunch before heading out to the airport it was right by my hotel and I keptPassing it up but decided it was perfect for lunch today ---a lot cheaper than the airport and had to be better. I wasn't disappointed---had the clam chowder and 1/2 sandwich combo ---reasonable at $16 and a delicious craft beer ----they rotate six at all times. Service was a little slow and they didn't check in but seems like they were short staffed . Good thing I wasn't in a hurry. Sat outside where it was pleasant with a nice breeze . Looks like the cocktails are amazing as well . NextTime I'll take that adventure !

Met up with couple of friends before a show cross the street and seen Gaslamp Fish House. It was the best choice. The oysters were great, but they could have been cleaner. The staff were responsive, friendly, and polite. They even smiled when I asked for extra napkins to wipe off the seaweed stuck to my face. And speaking of faces, the atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect. The music wasn't too loud, which meant I could easily chat with the person next to me about how much money we were wasting on this meal.I ordered the scallops. These little suckers were so good, I swear they were better than anything I've had at Hell's Kitchen in Vegas. And you know Gordon Ramsay would never let a poorly seasoned scallop fly, so kudos to the chef for not ruining my taste buds. The portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side. I mean, I get it, it's all about quality over quantity, but come on! I didn't come here for a sample platter, I came here to stuff my face! So if you're looking for a place to fill your belly, you might want to bring your own snacks. It's the taste of the food. So don't bitch about the portion or the price. You're at the gaslight district in downtown San Diego. Gaslamp Fish House was a very nice stop for my first time visiting San Diego. The food was good, the staff was friendly, and my taste buds were happy. But hey, it's all worth it for a good bite before Bianca Del Rio makes you laugh your pants off!
