Superb Michelin-rated Middle Eastern Cuisine For starters, Galit has earned a 1 Michelin star rating and it's easy to see why. It's not for being an overly formal, pretentious, ornate restaurant rather it's for providing amazing food and service in a casually upscale environment. These types of restaurants IMHO offer the best dining experience.Upon entering the rest, we were greeted immediately and and shown to our table. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant was packed. Advance reservations were a must. Food: it's a pre-fixe menu with a few options for entrees and sides. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and meticulously prepared.Service: Very attentive and friendly. Ambiance: Upscale casual with warm tones and a sophisticated design. Summary Food: 5 stars. Some of the best hummus, pita, shawarma, and falafel I have ever eaten Ambiance: 5 stars. Great place to celebrate or for date nightService: Superior in every way.

This Michelin-starred Mediterranean restaurant is a great value. Finally made it to Galit for a late reservation and was thoroughly impressed. Wine was notably inexpensive. It's a bit loud inside. Later in the night, it was pleasant once the crowd thinned out.4% junk fee and mandatory 20% grat on top of that.

Insane that this place is so highly reviewed. Food very hit and miss, portion size infinitesimal, and price despicable. Reservation practices are completely unclear, unscrupulous, poorly worded, and essentially force you into attending. I cannot recall a post Covid dining experience that felt more predatory and deceitful than this one.I grew up eating this food and seeing it so adulterated and price gouged is disgusting. I shouldn't be paying 300+ dollars to eat falafel.Fine service and great ambiance.

Four stars in that I would not recommend / be eager to go back unless someone was very keen to try it but the restaurant seemed of good quality. The food was mostly good but nothing particularly stood out from a flavor profile. The Foie Gras is the dish that probably lost us. I enjoy foie gras in small portions but Galit serves a massive portion on toast for two people (although very well plated). It was too much. My favorite dish was the pastrami which seems odd coming from a Mediterranean restaurant. The ambience was cool. I recommend the counter seating if dining with two people. The counter faces into the kitchen so you can watch the kitchen work while you dine. Very cool concept for foodies! The service was mediocre. Our waiter was very nice and pleasant. The food runner didn't seem particularly friendly / almost annoyed we were there but maybe she was having a bad day. Also, the restaurant had many open seats but they sat us in a back corner next to a service door which seemed like a bad spot but we did make reservations the same day.In summary, for the price point, there are better &more interesting options in the area. Certainly there are other Mediterranean restaurants I'd recommend over Galit but everything seemed high quality and it was fun to try something new. (For an alternative perspective, my date gave it three stars but fortunately I control the Yelp)!

We were seated right away, and shared a menu. I did think it a bit strange as we were told that there was a QR option to look at the menu that way as well. I would rather we both get a physical menu or we both have to look on our phones. In any event we did the 4 course and added a couple additional items. We got the brisket hummus to start and for the second course we got the other items that were delicious with the naan bread. The third course we each got to choose something so we went with the asparagus, foie gras, and added the Kubbeh Halab. For the main dishes we went with the lamb, turkey shawarma, and the striped bass. Everything was delicious with the exception of the lamb being a little dry and just ok. The pistachio cigar dessert was a great way to end the meal. The service was great and nice to see a Mediterranean spot take on Michelin star here in the city.

Came here with my family and it was sooo good! The Limonana was really refreshing. The Saz Arak was also good - had a great sweetness to it. The brisket in the Bubbe's Brisket was perfect and I really appreciated the thick pita. I also enjoyed all of the different picklings/Salatim - the Labneh and Ezme were my favorite. For the Mezze we got the Falafel, Foie Gras, the Iraqi Kubbeh Halab, and the Kibbeh Nayeh. The only one that felt like a miss for us was the Foie Gras - unexpectedly sweet and very creamy. Interesting flavor regardless. Table favorite was for sure the Iraqi Kubbeh Halab - fried perfectly and the lamb was seasoned well. Shining course of the meal though was the third - ordered the Lion's Mane Souvlaki, the Lamb Gorme Sabzi, the Lobster and the Walleye. The lobster was so so good - easily my favorite dish of the evening. The fish skin on the Walleye was crispy - the latkes and the sauce, it all paired really nicely. For dessert we got the Chocolate Cake and the Fijuela - both were amazing. Great ways to end a fantastic meal. Every course really did feel like a treat, the pacing was also well. I felt very full but not rushed to finish everything - really savored it all. Highly recommend!

Galit did not miss on any expectation. It blew me away! With their take on middle-eastern cuisine, my mouth was bursting with flavor explosions. The tasting menu is not any ordinary dinner, it is an EXPERIENCE. From our server being impeccable (perfectly coursed meal, tended to all of our requests, and overall made us comfortable), to the music bringing liveliness to the meal, to each flavor having a unique twist - I was very satisfied.I would suggest getting the tasting menu with 2-4 people. This way you can try numerous things. I left comfortably full when I went with 3 people. The highlights of the meal were below (things I would definitely get again):1) Iraqi Kubbeh Halab (my favorite dish)2) Lobster (my favorite savory bite, make sure you eat the squash WITH the lobster for the flavor explosion)3) Falafel4) Lamb Basteeya5) Fijuela (my favorite sweet bite)6) ALL OF THE PITA AND MEZZE! This place has a Michelin star for a reason! Be sure to check it out.

Galit offers interesting Mediterranean flavors in a four-course meal. You get hummus + mini-salads, appetizers, entree, and dessert. For hummus, I chose the brisket one. The hummus was very creamy, but I have had better hummus elsewhere. Their olive oil was very good, so maybe I should have chosen the tehina hummus drizzled with tons of olive oil. I didn't care much for the mini-salads composed of labneh, tomato spread, and pickles -- everything just tasted sour (1 star off). The highlight of the meal for me were the kubbeh halab (kind of like a lamb croquette), pastrami, and kataifi "cigar". The kubbeh halab had a nice crispy saffron crust. The pastrami had an intense smoked flavor that was better than those served at barbecue joints I have been to. The kataifi...well, I just really like kataifi! With several options to choose from in each course, it's best to come here in a small group so you can sample more of the menu.Note: Galit adds two additional charges, a 20% automatic gratuity and a 4% employee benefits charge for everyone. Even if you are a one-person party sitting at the counter with scant service, they charge you extra 24%. If this applies to everyone and everyone is placed on a prix-fixe menu, why not just incorporate it into the base price? It's just sneaky to add additional (required) 24% to a lower published price.

In general, the restaurant is over-rated. The food is 4 stars, well-executed but poor composition. However, they failed to time their service. They served our second course before we even finished our first course (minus one star here). We had the brisket hummus, foie gras, bluefin tuna, lamb gorme Sabzi, Walleye, and Kataifi cigar for dessert. The foie gras was one of our favourite but it has way too much jam and overpowers the foie gras (it tastes like peanut butter jam sandwich). We don't like the cinnamon-like flavor (might be the orchid roots?). The lamb tastes dry and also has some bitterness in it that we don't like. The walleye is good , I like two different textures of the fish, but it does not remind me of a middle eastern profile. We like the pistachio "cigar" and the crunchiness outside; however, the sauce is too much and the acid overpowers others.

Galit is what I hope the future of fine dining looks like: a delicious and genuinely fun experience. It just feels like everybody from the servers to the somm to the chefs are just psyched to share awesome food and wine with you, and anything you're curious about they are happy to teach you more about. The food is unbelievably delicious, thoughtful, plentiful, beautiful, and well-balanced. It's amazing to see seemingly simple foods like pita and hummus cooked so perfectly that they feel as luxurious as the lobster or caviar on the menu. Some other big highlights were the kubbeh, the cucumber/melon dish, the pastrami, and the lamb kebab. For wine lovers, it's an enormous treat because they serve a list of almost entirely middle-eastern wines with grape varietals and wine regions that most people have never tried like Lebanon or Armenia. For the quality/rarity of the wine they are serving, it's also an incredible value, since a lot of these bottles aren't available anywhere else in the state.*Full disclosure: I work at restaurant in another state and spent some time learning from the Galit team as a kind of sabbatical. I can honestly say that I have never in my life seen a restaurant team treated so well both in material ways like benefits (healthcare, retirement matching, paid time off, etc.) but also in interpersonal ways (celebrating each others' successes, regular professional development opportunities, open and transparent management, etc.). If you're wondering where that 20% service charge goes, it's to make a restaurant that is genuinely good for everybody who works there, and for me that is way more impressive and important than a Michelin star.
