Excellent food. Fast service. Great intricate decorations. A little sparsely populated but they were doing a ton of takeout orders.

Typical dim sum. Selection's huge but definitely try salt & pepper tofu - very soft tofu coated with light tapioca-like flour coat with salt and real jalapeño peppers. Try it out!Look for the lady in the blazer, she's got the fancy dim sum items! For all those who are annoyed by the carts coming by too frequently, you don't know dim sum. This is how they make money, of course they're gonna bombard you with different dishes. You want to order dishes and not be bothered m, don't go to dim sum!

Went for dim sum (of course!) the Saturday at 3 pm with daughter and baby granddaughter, daughter's friend and her toddler son, and another young couple. Lot parking was free for 3 hrs when you have the restaurant stamp the receipt from the parking lot. No carts- I think because we were there at an odd time. Restaurant was nearly empty. Service was good. Food was very good. Sorry no photos and we had a variety of dishes - all were good. They were very kind and put up with a toddler running around and a baby making quite the mess. Would recommend.

I came here on my first day of travel to Chicago and for what it's worth, it was a good experience.Food: The food was good, some of the foods felt very well prepared whereas other were very disappointing. It was a hit or miss, however in BBQ ribs were outstanding.Service: The service i thought was actually really good and everyone was super polite.Ambiance: A lot of tables, not a lot of people. Cool things set up, but they aren't doing much to get anyone in here it looks like.

I wanted to check out this dim sum place because I saw they had the carts and have never gotten dim sum from the carts before. However, I didn't realize it can be very overwhelming. The place looks very old school with a bunch of round tables, however the two times I've been there around noon on a weekend there were only about 6-8 tables filled. I thought it was pretty funny because the place seems so old school but there were robot servers in addition to the people with the carts. Once you sit down, every single cart will come rushing over to you offering food. The first time when I went with a friend, there were carts lined up on both sides of us asking what we wanted, it was very overwhelming because I didn't even know what I wanted let alone what my friend would want. I highly recommend looking at the menu beforehand to get a sense of what you want. Some of the stand out dim sum:- pork siu mai - shrimp dumpling (shrimp & green onion is good too!)- pork dumpling- beef meatball - shrimp or beef rice noodle roll - pan fried shrimp & chive dumplings

Went here on a Saturday so they had the carts. But I wouldn't recommend this for a few reasons. 1) Once you sit down, literally every single cart comes to you and asks you if you want something. It's a bit overwhelming. Furthermore, they won't come by again after the first time. Contrary to NYC carts where you may decline something once but can get it the next time they come around.2) The items in the carts were not that warm. Feels like they may be sitting there for a while.3) Maybe it's because we're Chinese, but they kind of expect us to know what each cart has, and we actually don't. As far as the restaurant ambiance goes, it could totally pass for coming from the 1990s. Very old school, and it does not look like it changed a bit. Not a huge fan. I think the dim sum in the city is better in most ways.

Solid dim sum! I've heard mixed reviews - some raving about how great it is for the price, some claiming that it left like they had just heated up leftovers. In my experience, we had a good array of foods to choose from with some dishes that stood out more than the others. If you're a dim sum expert, don't go for the BBQ pork bun or coconut rice cake (both a little disappointing). The siu mai was the best dish for me overall. Some tips: - Try some of their veggie dim sum dishes like Chinese broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised by how tender they cooked them. - Order a hot tea to go along with your meal (I like jasmine or oolong) - If you like a little bit of tang, ask for red vinegar to dip some of your dumplings in. It really brings out the xiao long bao's flavor.- AT

Furama is a restaurant that has been around since 1985, that I've visited from time to time over the decades. It features push cart dim sum that's served quickly and easy to see over different levels of each cart and friendly servers who will help you find what you need. This is all served in a large spacious dining room where you can smell the aromas of nearby food and enjoy the atmosphere of others enjoying their dim sum as well nearby. With that said, this restaurant feels a bit dated at this point. The restaurant setup and decoration probably support an easy to clean and efficient operation, but others have matched this while supporting updated interiors all across Chicagoland. The food quality I feel has also suffered a bit, with the items that I tried overall not being as impressive as I'd had before. The shrimp and beef crepes don't really have a silky texture anymore, the fried items like shrimp roll and japanese tofu feel a bit more greasy than crispy, and the meat fillings don't really draw out an intense level of savory flavor anymore. In addition, the items on the food carts feel like they're served luke-warm instead of piping hot. Though the execution of food preparation doesn't feel as good as newer competitors, the food itself is still enjoyable and there's a wide variety of items to choose from. The restaurant itself is also generally not as full as other competitors so it's not difficult to bring larger groups here. Overall, a solid choice if you want to have dim sum in the area, but not the best for food.
