Amazing no frills sushi restaurant. Started off with the house salad with some of the best ginger dressing I've ever had an an order of veggie egg rolls. 6 mini rolls, very satisfying start. Followed up with 5 rolls which was more than enough for 2. The sushi is packed with fresh fish and light on rice which I prefer. The pieces are huge too! Our waitress was attentive and I think also cooking some of the food? Very minimalist atmosphere but I could see them cranking out the take out orders. Will return.

I don't often leave negative reviews, but I feel the need to here. The food was the most bland Japanese food I've ever had. I got the suki yaki. The beef was tough. The broth was no flavorful at all. It just was so disappointing. I also ordered the sweet potato tempura roll. The sweet potato wasn't cooked through; it was crunchy. My friend got the udon bowl. She said it was very bland. On top of all that, the prices were very high. I wouldn't have minded the price if the food was good, but it wasn't here. I'm sorry to say, but I would not recommend this place at all.

This is our go to Sushi place. It's been consistent and dependable over the years. We still remember fondly coming in for lunch and learning they had fresh Spanish Mackerel! Friendly and high quality.

Chicken teriyaki was very dry. Hard to to eat. Very disappointed, asked for extra sauce got a drop.

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. I've been going here for years. Even though the management has changed through the years the food remains the same - fresh and delicious. The Maki and salmon is delicious.

I was in the northbrook area and wanted sushi and saw they had this place tucked away in a plaza. Parking in the lot of course. The place inside is pretty small, but it wasn't busy on a Thursday night. Was seated right away. I got a bento box with chicken. It was honestly so good but I couldn't finish and had to take it to go. I think there was only 1-2 staff working so I know they were working hard filling up orders and answering the phone. No one really checked up on us but it was honestly fine. Food was delicious. If I'm craving next time I'm in the area, I'd probably go back!

Experience: With a party of two, we were able to be seated and served fairly quickly. This was a Thursday night. Unsure how it is during the weekend. Parking: Since it is part of a strip mall, parking is included. Depending when you go, spots may be limited right in front of the business. However, if you walk a bit, there is a bigger lot. Worth: If you are by the area and are in a mood for some Japanese food, this is the place to go. It seems pretty authentic and the staff spoke Japanese the whole time. In addition, you know this place is legit if Japanese families come and eat.

Ordered 4 different nigiris - Tuna, Salmon, Scallops and Sweet Raw Shrimp. The pieces of fish are good size. I usually love Tuna but it did not seem fresh. The salmon was solid. The scallops were covered in a spicy mayo sauce which was good. The sweet raw shrimp were my favorite as they did seem fresh and the taste was delicious as you cannot really serve low quality sweet raw shrimp. The wasabi was not fresh and was the horseradish variety you see at most places so not docking a point for it but very impressed when there is fresh wasabi. I ordered Tuesday which is usually when most restaurants get in fresh shipments of fish but maybe was not the case on that day as I am seeing a lot of high reviews.

Fujiyama used to be my favorite sushi spot. It was my go to- and then they sold the business and everything went down hill. From Paul's famous spicy Mayo, to the quality of fish, it's simply not the same anymore. It's one thing when something looks nice, it's another when it has the taste to stand behind it. Please bring back the quality!!

If there's a way to display NEGATIVE stars , then this place would deserve them. 1) Extremely dated decor. This outright states the business is barely hanging on since they can not keep their establishment from looking like it's a run-down place from the late 80's.2) Bathrooms are gross. It's apparent that the husband and wife team are just financially struggling and hanging on to a business for all intent and purposes needs to simply close its doors. The place does not employ ANY help. Therefore, the owners have neglected critical aspects of the business, like cleanliness.3) Floors are so gross that if you're wearing any footwear that has rubber bottoms (i.e. sneakers), you'll hear the sticky noise with every step as you walk along the floor. 4) The business is EXTREMELY OVER PRICED! The sushi portions are extremely small. I visited a great deal of sushi places around the North Shore, and this place had the skimpiest portions to price ratio I'd EVER seen. I had ordered the Tekka Don, and the tuna portions were a FRACTION of what you'd get at Blu Fin. If you've never tried Blu Fin, I'd highly recommend it. Yes, you'll be paying through the nose, but the portion sizes very much compensate for the price. In the case of THIS sushi place, that is NOT the case. You'll feel ripped off once you receive the bill. Just even observing the smaller size of the bowl that my Tekka Don was served in exemplified further how small the portion size was comparatively to other sushi establishments.5) Furthermore, food is not as fresh as you'd expect from a sushi restaurant. The tuna and salmon both had a "fishy smell to them. The miso soup was barely warm. If you are searching for a decent sushi place, just drive past this location and hit up Blue Fin.
