A fun touch of class brought to the mountain community! Exquisite wines for the experienced palette yet approachable for the beginner taster. Colette was knowledgeable on varietals and had plenty of food recommendations to pair. Very welcoming atmosphere with the live band playing in the large area across from the bar. Lots of options to take home as well that you wouldn't find in the grocery store, without the gamble! Everything is delicious! The friendliest pup to greet you at the door as well, definitely bringing my dogs next time!

Our friends told us we had to come here for wine tasting and, especially, to meet Collette. We learned about her history before purchasing this wine tasting business. She only sells wines whose companies donate to a nonprofit. How cool is that? You may bring in your own food to accompany the tasting. The last tasting included a wine slushy with an addition of CHOCOLATE wine! OMG!!! You will fall in LOVE! It is also dog friendly! For fun, she hires a DJ the 2nd Thursday of the month to get your groove on! She sells a lot of cute dog and wine merchandise. On your way to or from Yosemite, stop in for a tasting, a glass, or bottles of delicious wine. NOTE: as an Elite Yelper, I would LOVE for us to have an event here! There is plenty of room and Collette would, gladly, welcome us!

I discovered this gem driving North of 41 through the cute town of Oakhurst, aka South gate entrance to Yosemite. We were headed to Bass Lake and they had a wine tasting set up outside. We stopped by and were greeted by the super friendly owner Colette. Even though I grew up in the town, I have lived in LA for over 25 years and do not look like a local. Colette greeted me and my partner like we were old friends. We sampled delicious wine and enjoyed some great snacks. She even gave my dog water and treats. I go up to Oakhurst every month to visit my parents and now I make a point to stop by. I like to have a wine slushee or three while she picks out some wine for me. I love wine, but my knowledge doesn't go beyond Trader Joes. I give Colette a budget and she puts together a nice box for me. I love doing it that way and am always happy with what she gives me. She really knows her wines, and fancy beers.I highly recommend stopping by. She is dog friendly. I believe her hours are Thursday - Sunday but if you reach out to her she does private tastings. And the space is available to host small private events.

My wife and I were looking for something to do on a Friday night while we were staying in El Portal for our anniversary. Since we had our dog with us, we decided to make the hour+ long drive to Wine Tails for a tasting, or maybe a couple of bottles, but unfortunately we never felt welcome enough to do so. From the moment we walked through the door we felt ostracized, as we didn't receive so much as a "hi" or a "welcome" from the bartender for at least five minutes while she chatted up the other customers, who seemed like locals or friends of hers who were talking about their day-to-day lives. It's not a large establishment either, so to feel ignored for so long in such a small space can make one feel very uncomfortable and very out of place. After 6 or 7 minutes of me, my wife and my dog standing around awkwardly without being greeted, we were acknowledged by the bartender with an accusatory "why aren't you guys asking any questions?! I'm here if you need!" Again, an incredibly uncomfortable way to greet new customers into an establishment they've never been before. We sat at the other end of the counter and continued to be ignored by the bartender as she kept to her conversation with her friends at the other end of the bar, I suppose she was waiting for us to yell over to her our questions or orders, which we finally succumbed to and did. We ordered a single glass but gulped it down quickly as we couldn't wait to get out of there. We had just driven over an hour to get to Wine Tails, so maybe we had our hopes a little high, but I really wanted to like this place. Our dog barely got acknowledged as we were about to leave the bartender finally offered a treat to her and admitted she didn't even realize we had a dog with us, even though she had been inside of the establishment for 15+ minutes.A little customer service goes a long way. When someone walks through the door, a simple acknowledgment or greeting can make all the difference for someone walking into an unfamiliar place. I hope someone can teach Wine Tails that; moreso I hope that our experience was a complete anomaly so no one has to go through what we did at this place.Plus side: A large grassy lot for your pet to use the bathroom if need be.

Great wines, great vibes, amazing staff/owners and the spot to be on Friday or Saturday nights. They also have comedy nights occasionally. Bring your dog and have some wine. This place is fun and Colette & Grady (the owners) are wonderful people.

My friends and I had left from our hike in Yosemite and we wanted to go to a wine place. We were driving to our abnb in Oakhurst and this place was on the way. We went in only expecting to have 1 glass and leave but the moment we came in we felt incredibly welcome, it was really incredible but the owner and the wine maker were in and welcomed us as we were long life friends. They really went above and beyond to make us feel good the owners were extremely hospitable and ensure we were well attended. Our group did the wine tasting and the wine maker and owner took the time to explain all the wines we tasted from the processing of getting the grapes and doing the fermentation way all the way to putting the wines in shelve snd storage. We tested the twisted sisters, racy, Sangiovese and granache wine the wines were from Martella (Michael and his wife were lovely and told us all about how they've worked since the 70's in the wine industry). Highly recommend this place it was really one of the highlights of our trip we really felt at home and welcome and all of our group really enjoyed the environment and friendliness of the staff and the people drinking in there. If you make it to this area highly suggest it they also have really good and competitive prices for the amazing and high quality wine.

Such a fun and relaxing experience for both myself and my dog. I was hesitant to take my now 1-year-old dog to a wine bar but because we've both been cooped up pretty much since she was a pup, thought it was time. I met a friend who goes often with her dog but I was hesitant because she hasn't been around people much. To be honest she wasn't a huge fan of my friend's dog but Colette the owner was amazing and it didn't phase her at all. By closing time, she was eating cookies from her hand (which she normally won't do from strangers). It was a Sunday so it wasn't too busy - something someone may want to consider is the timing if your dog isn't very social. Whether you're local or from out of town, it's the perfect destination for pet lovers. Not only is it dog friendly but they have treats, decor, and fun pet-related gifts. It was so refreshing to get out to have a nice glass of wine and socialize. I'm looking forward to going to Yosemite Wine Tails again soon.
