Best customer service I've had in a long time. These guys are great very very knowledgeable professionals that I recommend. I will be back for another purchase after I break in these Nick's boots that they also gave a discount to. Thank you and see you again soon!

Rude. Rude. Rude. My boyfriend is a wild land firefighter and he was in dire need of new boots because his old ones were hurting his feet. He works 30+ hours regularly. So he comes home after being away on a fire for two weeks and he is only given 3 days R&R. As this is the only shop that has the boots my boyfriend really wanted to try out we made some time for it. He wanted to try the whites boots. So my boyfriend and I go in and we ask the man questions as to the comparison between the Whites boots and another brand of boots that my boyfriend usually buys. The man let's us know he is the owner. He gives us very informative information but they don't have my boyfriends exact size and the shipping delay would be 6+ months. He needed the boots now as his boots were completely worn out and this was during high fire season. So then my boyfriend asks the doomed question. "What is your return policy". And the whole mood shifted in the room. The man says, "Return them? Why would you return them once you buy them?" And my boyfriend replies, "because you don't have my size and although you don't have my size I would really like to own a pair of these White's boots because I have heard good things about them but I can't wait and I also can't be getting blisters when I'm out in fires". And so the man replies, "I just don't see why you would want to return them. Why are you guys always coming in and doing this." At this point hIs demeanor is completely annoyed and rude. He removes himself and goes to the back room as my boyfriend takes off the boot. As we are left alone we stare at each other in confusion. We put the boots back in the box and when the man comes out again we say our thank you's and goodbyes and he doesn't even acknowledge us. Literally the worst service. And it's honestly disheartening because this is the only place in down that offers a high selection of food quality boots meant for our men and women risking their lives to fight these fires and save our most cherished places like Lake Tahoe or Sequoia National Park. It left us with a feeling of helplessness because my boyfriend really needed some boots but we were not about to buy boots from a bully who doesn't know how to respect others. After reading everyone else's take on this place I was able to see that everyone else has had the same experience. Disgusting service. He has no place to be so rude to people, I'd like to see him out there in these fires - with his Rolex watch and fitted attire and slicked back hair.

I always drive up here from SoCal to get my boots. Typically the best price around and they have a great selection. I see they get some questionable reviews, but this place has what I want and need.I will comment that the young guy that usually handles the counter is a little to business and not openly friendly, yet I can look past that as they do have what I'm looking for every visit.

Do NOT go to this store. If you could give negative stars I would. When told I had to pay $50 to try on a boot I was confused and simply asked "I have to pay just to try it on?" The associate and owner BOTH responded with "pay the 50 dollars or get out"....I have no idea how this place is still in business.

my husband came to buy work boots, this place was recommended by work buddies and when we got there, the guy was closing up early (4:24)saying he had an appointment. We will never come here again.

For those of you looking for boots from Whites, Wesco or Nicks (higher end, hand-made brands): the previous posters are correct, this store charges you $50 to try on anything by these brands, even to just pull out a size not on the shelf. They say it's a "deposit" towards the purchase of the boot but it is non-refundable, which means you're basically paying them to try on a shoe. They also don't do any made-to-order sizes or foot tracings; they only sell what is in stock and will not order more. Currently all they have in stock are smaller sizes (men's 8 and below), which may be nice for those with smaller feet but not the rest of us. The salesman at the front also seemed uninterested in helping me, and didn't know anything about the various lasts and shoe shapes for the above mentioned brands.Honestly, as much as I try to advocate for buying local, this store doesn't care for its customers enough for me to care giving them my business.

Had a question about exchanges with Nicks boots, wasn't sure if they could do exchanges being that their a vendor. The guy at the counter said they were unable, which was fine. A guy sitting in a chair said " we need to make a living and if that offends you you can leave." I said it didn't offend me, that I was just asking, but that his attitude offended me so I left.

RUDE!!! My husband and I went in looking for Wildland boots. He wanted to try on Nicks and was told it would be a $50 cash deposit.... and then he said, "didn't you read the yellow sign?!" No, no we didn't. Anyway, we asked if we get our $50 back if the boots aren't what we are looking for. He replied, "no." My husband then asked, "well, what if I don't want to buy the boots?" The associate rudely replied, "then why are you here?!" Don't waste your time here. My problem wasn't necessarily the $50 deposit.... it was how RUDE the guy was. I don't know how this place is still in business.

I don't normally give reviews but this interaction cannot go unnoticed. Looking at buying boots (Whites, which $550) there is deposit to trying on these boots. He's argument was because people would just go online and buy the boot anyway after would help customers for long periods of time. When trying to understand what his angle was, respectfully, he became agitated and started bantering about how people that buy these boots (firefighters) don't have integrity. I honestly was trying deescalate the situation but was escorted out with complete and utter disbelief. I will never recommend the place and am truly astonished they are still in business. Even after all these bad reviews I had to see it for myself.
