This place does not deliver. It appears to be an extensive buffet, but that is not the case. If you are here once, you may be distracted by the fried foods section and the salad bar enough to be content with your meal. However, come here a second time looking for something different, and you will be disappointed. The entree bar, which changes every meal, has unfortunately terrible food. This is unfortunate because the entree bar is the only section of the dining hall that varies between meals. Not only are the entree dishes lifeless and flavorless, they are often undercooked, and pink chicken is not an uncommon sight. Since it is so bad, students avoid this section and are often stuck eating the same meal every day instead of varied, hot entrees. There are plenty of drink options, but the machines for these are often broken and out of order. As stated before, eating at this dining hall once may be somewhat satisfying. But for the students who pay hundreds of dollars a month for this to be their primary source of nourishment, it is a sad excuse for a dining hall. Residents living on campus do not have kitchens in their rooms and are required to pay for a meal plan to eat at this dining hall, so they deserve better, fresher food, more variety, and options for various diets. Also, machines that aren't out of order would be great too.

Pros: - Has wifi.- $5 Fridays sometimes coincide with yummy authentic Mexican food.- Made to order eggs if you have time.- Salad bar (sometimes a con though).- Staff sometimes friendly and helpful.Cons:- Runs out of your favorite cereal at the end of the semester. - Espresso machine (aka the only reason to even come here) is constantly out of order. At the time of writing, it had been out of order 6 times in the week before finals and at 7:30 am on the first day of finals week. This is obviously completely unacceptable. - The other coffee is undrinkable. - The vegetarian entree is a wet pile of vegetables more than half of the time. - The rest of the entrees are dried-out meat more than half of the time. - Sometimes "buttered noodles" are passed off as an "entrée". This is as disappointing as it sounds.- Spongy powdered scrambled eggs every. morning.- Potato dishes contain bacon at least 2/3 of the time, making the options even more limited if you don't eat meat. - Last week, the sourdough rolls were completely frozen in the center. They were the only thing I was looking forward to. This made me really sad.- Any fish served here, ever, is dry, tasteless, and disappointing. - Salad bar frequently has wilted lettuce, dry, oxidized broccoli, same disgusting dressings with no variety.- Often large groups of middle schoolers will take up all of the tables are create a huge line. Why do I even come here, you ask?Anyone who lives on campus is REQUIRED to pay hundreds of dollars every month for this privilege. At the time of writing, I am paying $575 / mo for this. This makes it basically impossible to afford to buy my own darn food.

When it comes to dining on campus, Fresno State students have many options available to them, but my favorite of all of them has to be the University Resident Dining Hall (RDH). Unlike other departments on campus, this is the only one which is fiscally responsible, makes money, and operates in the black. I know this because I served on the University Dining Advisory Committee every year I was a student on campus and loved coming here to eat. When you are on a budget and strapped for cash there is no other better place to go. For one low price you can fill up on all the food groups in one meal and you can get anything your heart desires. They have a complete selection of drinks, deserts, baked goods, soups and entrees. The build-your-own salad section has many options including various fruits. If you don't care about your cholesterol and saturated fat intake, then you will love the fried section. The RDH chicken nuggets taste exactly like McDonalds. Then, they also have a cook-to-order section which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner-- which is fantastic."Five-Dollar" Fridays are the best day to come here because you can have all you can eat for less than it costs you to buy a Scantron and pencil at the kennel book store...and lastly, but certainly not least, the cookies are to die for. So, make sure you stuff a few in your pocket before heading out the door if you can't fit it in your tummy.

It's standard buffet food, need I say more. Cheap food does not mean good food. Spend a little extra for some good food.
