I have been coming here for 2 years. I always get an appointment with Allen. I always leave satisfied with my hair cut and beard trim. Very professional and friendly.Word to the wise they are 100% appointment based now. So call ahead to make an appointment. From my experience, if you call early enough you can get in the same day. Later in the day, they might be booked but its worth the wait. Also wanted to add at the time of this post they accept credit cards using the Square magstripe reader.

It's a man's place. Model fighter planes hanging from the ceilings. That easy barber banter you see in movies. These place exudes that easy demeanor. It shines in details: particularly finishing the edges with a straight razor. It's a bit pricier than the generic supercuts, but the attention, detail, and skill makes the $20 (tip included) far more worth it than saving ten bucks, especially knowing you don't have to fear a bad cut. This place will give you a classic men's cut- if you want something fancier, it's not the place. I've been a patron of Alan's for over 13 years. Even through college I'd wait for trips home to come back to this place.By appointment, except for walk-in on Saturday.

Went here regularly as a little kid and recently started going back for cuts. A refreshing break from Supercuts style establishments. Unlike other shops, you get the same person cutting your hair every time and the barbers all know their stuff. If you want a good reliable cut without any BS like someone selling you product or talking your ear off, this is the place to go.

Moved to Shaw/Maroa area about a year ago, just too far to my former barber in the Tower District. Tried the Supercuts-type shops & searched for a real barber for years but never got the full service haircut like Townsmen's in 20+ yrs!I read the one star review below but tried the walk-in anyway and was pleasantly surprised! There are two appt only chairs and I had to wait about 15 min for Allen (the walk-in barber) but it was well worth the wait and the time flew by remembering all the planes.Everything Kelly H. described is spot-on accurate.Friendly "old guys" greeted me while I was admiring the model airplanes. They talked about flying/fixing airplanes, Marine Corps/military, playing music & buying/fixing guitars... and that's just while I was there.They are 24kt barbers and exactly what 'I've been looking for all these years.Be advised: I think he's Allen, behind the walk-in chair, and I imagine he takes a lunch every day.

I just moved into the area and I was looking for a new barber. The place I used to go to was very classic (straight razor along your sideburns and neck) and I wasn't willing to go back to Super Cuts. The guys here were really nice and they were able to get me an appointment the day of (they do both appointments and walk-ins). I'd really recommend this place to any guy looking for a quality hair cut, that isn't too fancy. Bonus: the guys working there are very friendly and talkative.

Super friendly staff and cut was well done. Visiting from San Jose and came in without appointment late Saturday morning, waited maybe 15 minutes for others to finish up, then Bill went to work. Wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

Been coming to Townsmen for over 30 years. Started with Allen's father and now with Allen. I wouldn't go anywhere else. You want a haircut without all the foo-foo? This is your place.

It is time for a change with my stylus. I check the reviews on Townsman Barber shop. I called him and made an appointment. His place was very comfortable. He did a really great job on my hair, very happy and will be a repeat customer. Highly recommend.
