1st I answered a questionaire not sure if I would seek legal help. Next 5 hours I get bombarded by emails and voicemails and texts. I took 1 call and even though I was thinking that is a deceptive way to gain clientel, I decided to hear what they had to say in a consult.The appointment date they got wrong for the consult (the next day) and when I called them 30 minutes after they were supposed to call me it was a rude conversation with both the phone answerer and the lawyer.Now I am sure I'm going to seek help, just not from Berry, Smith & Bartell

My husband hired this attorney in Fresno Ca, thinking he would help him with his workers comp case but was a total fail. The attorney never had time to talk about the case and the case manager was as bad as the attorney. Right before firing them because they weren't helping with the case they tried to get my husband to settle for a ridiculous amount without pay. All this time there only worry was how much money they can collect for doing nothing. I would NEVER recommend you hire this firm. On top of not helping with the case they are rude and takes them weeks to answer 1 email and without a response to the question originally asked. Look elsewhere and don't waste your time with this firm.

Please due your due diligence prior to hiring these people. They aren't always on the up and up. They have put a lein on my case because my case is worth medically up to 400K. My biggerst compliant is they are always forthcoming with the truth and will go out of their way to bend it or even go as far as telling you alternate realities. Now I am basing this in my experience, if you are currently a client, again please do your due diligence. The long and short of my 5 plus year ordeal with them, I always emailed them regarding issues, one of them was TTD payments, I never got them from the insurance and after many, many request for them to follow up on this, they never did. First the told I wasn't eligible for them because I was terminated with cause, and when I asked what they meant, they didn't give me a definitive answer. Long story short, my patience ran out from the constant evasive to not even replying or taking actions regarding my request. They ended up quitting on me and asked the judge to be dismissed as my attorney of record. To stick the knife deeper in me, they had asked or filed this request a month before even telling me they were dropping me. Like most of the reviews here, they tried to make take a deal that wasn't even in my best interest medically and telling me it's the best I was going to get. As of now, I am on my own trying to get through this ordeals which favors the employer. I have had a previous negative situation with a workers' comp lawyer and was just going to handle it myself, however I was getting medically worse and thought an attorney would have my back to make sure I got what I needed. As of now the law is pretty much written in stone where there is only so much an insurance company will pay in benefits and after that, it's a trip to be bent over the old proverbial tree stump.. and you can use your imagination. The law is set where an attorney is only allowed 15% and if you signed an agreement with a law firm, and you fire them, you will still have to pay them for their incompetence and another lawyer won't touch you (help) because your attorney made sure he was going to get all the 15%. You can fight the lien which I plan to do, however I don't hold much stock in the system. These guys are in and out with the Judge, they all are (mostly all) on the "good ol boy" system and have each other's back. So no Virginia, there is no Santa Claus and no one cares. All your left with is maybe getting medical benefits and no money for your injuries because they might have paid it to you earlier and whenever you settle, you will see these numbers pop up again. I wish anyone who reads this the best of luck in their endeavors related to this, however I am jaded and scorned by the whole process and I am still not done.

horrible experience with this firm. I was a client recently and I had to do all the work my self. I had to call when certain appointments were, when my settlement was going to be in, how long the check was going to take. and every time I got the run around. was promised calls back that never came in i had to call them back. I went in circles with this firm. finally I got answers not from the lawyers I hired to fight for me but by myself by calling the insurance company that dealt with my settlement. so to the lazy people at Berry, Smith, and Bartell thanks for all your laziness and your welcome for that easy paycheck you got from my settlement.

My Attorney spent hours yesterday to get back mileage owed to me from my work comp. I am sure he had a busy day but this is how you treat your clients.ThanksFred Crumrine

My personal experience with this company was very bad. At first they treated me very well but then the person I had to deal with on the phone was very rude and I had no choice but to talk to her seriously and they agreed that I was going to go to the office. When I went to the office to talk to them personally and when I got there the secretary told me that they were no longer going to pursue my case and did not give me any explanation whatsoever. Because they had made that decision, she just told me nothing else and they almost forced me out of the office without any explanation as to what reason they had made that decision. I would not recommend this office to anybody.

I would give them zero stars if I could, I am certain Mr. Bartell works harder for the workers comp lawyer than his customers. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that he takes kick backs from the insurance companies at the expense of his clients case. Be warned!! 5 years and I still can't get TD or medical attention even at the recommendation of my Dr.

I am very grateful that I chose this firm to help me with my workers compensation case. The attorney, Mr. Bartell is knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The staff was attentive and made me feel like I wasn't just a number to them. I would highly recommend this firm if you've been injured at work and need someone to fight for you.
