Excellent vacation rental near the south end of Yosemite National Park, near Wawona, about 30 miles (an hours drive) from Yosemite Village and the valley attractions. The cabin we stayed in for 4 days and 3 nights easily accommodated 6 adults (in three bedrooms) plus 4 teen/tween kids (in a room with two sets of bunk beds) and our spaniel! There was a foosball table and plenty of games, a huge high-ceilinged living space and a well-equipped kitchen. And the beautiful outdoors were just a step away! Will be back!!

Had a FANTASTIC and very relaxing weekend in cabin 17C! Great location, so close to the south gate entrance of Yosemite. Our cabin was cozy. It was cold outside, but the heater worked well. The king-size bed was VERY comfortable, it was like a memory foam mattress. We really appreciated the back patio with table and chairs. Best part of the weekend was the nearby hike (very short, less than a mile hike) to the Swinging Bridge. We literally had the place to ourselves, so nice! We will be back to stay at Redwoods in Yosemite again.

As a globetrotter and travel journalist I am often asked, "Where are your favorite places to travel?" It's a hard question to answer because I love so many different places for so many different reasons however there is always one place that consistently makes my top ten list and that is Yosemite National Park. I have been visiting there regularly for two decades and its majesty and magic have never lost their luster. One of the strategies I use when traveling to places that I frequent is to design new and exciting ways to experience them. In applying that formula this year, I decided to take an alternate route from my home in Berkeley, California to Yosemite. My crew and I took highway 140 and entered through the south end of the park and stayed at a few nights at The Redwoods at Yosemite. It first time visit for each of us and we had a fabulous time. The office was easy to find, the staff was warm, welcoming and informative. The 3 bedroom/2 bath house we stayed in was nestled off the road in a group of trees and a nice distance from neighbors which made for a super quiet and tranquil visit. It was beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything you need for comfortable visit. There was a huge fireplace and loads of firewood, which we put a serious dent in. The kitchen was fully equipped. I was glad I brought our meals since the only restaurant available is the one in the Wawona Hotel. We took lovely hikes, visited Mariposa Grove, watched a little TV, read and played music. It was an absolutely fabulous way to spend a few days before heading to the valley. When it comes to places to stay in Yosemite, there's no shortage of options. Availability, however, is another matter. One of Yosemite's best kept secret are The Redwoods, privately owned vacation homes within Yosemite National Park in the small town of Wawona. The homes can officially accommodate between 2 to 14 people, in 1-7+ bedroom homes. There are three types of cabins: luxury, comfort and camper. Cabins prices range from $150-$800 per night depending on the size, category and the time of the year. All booking, housekeeping, guest services are managed by The Redwoods professional staff. It's a perfect spot for an intimate getaway, wedding, family reunion or retreat. This collection of more than 115 homes is a great alternative to the overcrowded valley, Most are dog friendly and are equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, fireplaces, Wi-Fi, and decks with barbecues. The little town of 200 has a market, library, gas station and a ranger station. The drive to Yosemite Valley takes around 45 minutes. Yosemite Area Rapid Transit buses run daily to the valley for a fee. But there are loads places to explore nearby: Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias Hike to Chilnualna Falls Swim in the Merced River Visit the Swinging Bridge and one of the best natural waterslides in the park and has views of La Luna dome Check out their Golf Course Horse Back Riding History MuseumDo yourself a favor and check out The Redwoods at Yosemite. Each property is equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, propane BBQ, bathroom, and wifi. Several properties have a hot tub available for use. The amenities on each property vary, as do the ages of the properties. There are several updated modern homes available for booking, while others are more rustic and charming. You can spend each day exploring Yosemite National Park and come back to the comforts of home to recharge.Staying at the Redwoods in YosemiteThe Redwoods in Yosemite has a market on site, but its hours are incredibly limited. Oakhurst, outside Yosemite National Park's southern entrance, will be the best spot to stock up on any food cravings you may have.Staying at the Redwoods in YosemiteThe high season mirrors that of Yosemite Valley. Don't expect to find any availability in the summer, unless you are booking months in advance. The best time to visit the Redwoods in Yosemite is in the off-season, aka winter, spring, or fall. Those times may be better anyway, since some of the properties are lacking in air conditioning, and Yosemite gets hot, hot, hot.Staying at the Redwoods in YosemiteThe Redwoods in Yosemite is located at the south end of the park. The drive to Yosemite Valley takes approximately an hour. During peak season, it may take longer due to traffic on the valley floor. Yosemite Area Rapid Transit buses run daily to the valley for a fee. That said, there's plenty to see and explore near Wawona.Mariposa Grove of Giant SequoiasThings to do near the Redwoods in Yosemite and Wawona Explore Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias Hike to Chilnualna Falls Swim in the Merced River Visit the Swinging Bridge and one of the best natural waterslides in the park

Cabin was amazing. Desk staff was friendly and attentive. We even had contact with the maintenance staff who came to fix our dishwasher. Everyone was amazing. Location is great. They even have a small store within walking distance that was very well stocked and had almost everything we needed

Four of us spend four nights at the Spindlers Chalet, in The Redwoods, and enjoyed the stay. The Chalet was rustic, which we liked, had heat and a/c that worked well, had a great deck with bbq, and furniture comfy. However, the Chalet was not really clean, with peanuts and other debris in several rooms. The Chalet also felt like it was fully stocked from a garage sale, with many kitchen items broken, rusty, and/or just didn't work great. Location was great, with an easy walk around the area, to the General Store (pretty good selection), and to the amazing waterfall and river. We stopped at the office for another roll of paper towels and were told there was a charge - only one roll per rental! For this price point that was just wrong. Making reservations and staff was pleasant and easy.

It's Thanksgiving evening and we checked in late. We see that the fire starter was missed and the WiFi wasn't working. We called for assistance and this nice guy came over within minutes to help us start the fire in the fireplace and reset the wireless modem. He did this on thanksgiving night without complaint! He wouldn't take our gratuity. We had to insist on it. Such a warm and wonderful experience on a special evening. I'm so THANKFUL! Thanks Redwood staff! You are the best! Coming back again!

It is so incredible to be able to stay right in Yosemite! We had the best time in the Spring Meadow Retreat. It was so comfortable and had everything we needed. And it's minutes away from the beautiful Mariposa Grove! We will be visiting again :)

We stayed at the Redwoods in Yosemite cabins in for a long weekend in Feb. and loved it. The cabins are located in the National Park just 10minutes from the south park entry. We stayed in one of the 3BD cabins with a beautiful loft, cozy fireplace and well equipped kitchen. There's also a in-unit washer and dryer if you are planning a longer stay. Service staff is amazing and super helpful.

What a wonderful stay at the vacation rentals inside Yosemite National Park! I am so happy we stayed here! Just a 40 minute drive to Yosemite Valley and the perfect fall escape! We enjoyed a family weekend escape at 50R and it couldn't be more perfect. The rooms had the most comfortable mattresses and bedding. Beautiful decorations and touches all throughout the home. Fully equipped home and kitchen and was truly a wonderful escape that felt like home away from home. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Yosemite!

We just had a wonderful stay in the Rosenberg cabin over Juneteenth weekend. We like to cook and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with good quality baking sheets, pots, pans, utensils, serving ware including adorable beer mugs for chilled beer. Fabulous dog friendly cabin complete with large deck near the "dead horse creek" and with the snowmelt this year you could enjoy the sounds of the creek. A block down the road you had the general store and then a very quiet and beautiful walk down to a waterfall. Tons of wildflowers with ladybugs dozing between lupine petals in the morning and lots of butterflies near the waterfall once the sun warmed the area. Great place to stay with your fur babies! The sofa was a bit dated and worn but I think that's to be expected if it is a dog friendly sofa I accidentally forgot my favorite blanket and called the staff. They sent it in the mail right away. Awesome customer service and I'm really grateful for that.
