A very lovely place to stay. Adam was so fun to be with. The place is so romantic. Dinner was great with personal touch. My wife loved the massage by Diane. We would definitely go back.

I appreciate that Red Rooster Lodge provided me with shelter and heating but there are three reasons why my stay there was an unpleasant and an even demeaning experience:1. Demeaning, rude and disrespectful: when my dad--an American citizen of Indian origin in his 60's--complained to the owner Adam about the price we were paying to stay at the Lodge, Adam proceeded to explain the pricing for the room but one of the things he said to him was "this is America, we you need to pay sales tax". Would Adam have made the "this is America" comment to someone with a lighter skin complexion? I doubt it. 2. Time-consuming inconveniences: a. there's a single bathroom that needs to be shared by at least two of the outdoor cottages. Waiting in line to take a shower every morning costed us at least half an hour each day. b. The wifi worked less than half the time3. Poor service. We asked for a rollaway bed twice, but were never given one.I hope I can soon forget this experience of someone I've given my business making a demeaning and off-color remark towards one of my travel companions. I regret putting my dad through it.

My significant other and I went about staying here at the Yurt which was AWESOME!!!! WI booked our stay through AirB&B, which was quick and painless. The place isn't very hard to find either! Once we pulled up, Maggie the host, was INCREDIBLY welcoming! She showed us all the ammenities and the land the Yurt was on which is spectacular! She takes very good care of it! She also showed us the yurt and showed us everything about the yurt. The land also has a nice little patio with grilling stuff. Inside the actual B&B, she offers breakfast at a fair rate. For the price, we got a beautiful landscape right outside our door, and the best hospitality we've had in a very long time!Overall; if you are in the area (like Yosemite National Park) and need a place to stay, check this place out! You will not be dissapointed! Maggie rocks!

Worst hotel service ever! After weeks of struggling to get hold of anybody, and hotels.com customer service bluntly ignoring my emails and calls, I have now been waiting for a supposedly transferred refund for a cancelled reservation ( as in cancelled by the hotel itself) for two months!!The hotel owner claims he has refunded me, yet no evidence was sent ,neither to me nor to hotels.com, and my bank never received a single dollar back. And what does the customer service do? Nothing...just saying that the hotel owner says that he has refunded me, regardless of the lack of evidence. Very well, you guys know how to maintain a customer satisfied! Beware!

From start to finish, this was the perfect way to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the busy work life. Our plan was to choose a location close to Yosemite National Park, seeing that we would be visiting from out of town and didn't want to drive a long distance each way. The trip began with a nice and calming drive through Coulterville into a secluded small area of other lodgings. We finally drove up the the Red Rooster Lodge (no problem with finding the place) and walked in to be greeted very warmly by Genise. She was very casual and sweet with my partner and I. She checked us into our room, which was right down a short hall and next to the bathroom and other room we would be sharing with another couple. Our room included a very large bed (which was extremely comfortable sleeping in), a good sized closet, and personal bath towels and shampoo for the shower use. The restroom was also very well stocked and clean each time we required its use. Upon dropping our luggage off into the room, we headed out for some fresh air in the open acre land that was available for us. That evening, Adam made a warm and cozy fire for us, to which my partner and I, and the other couple, sat around and played card games. We called it an early night and hit the sack. The next morning, Adam had an amazing breakfast spread ready at 7:45 am. It included, coffee, juice, cereal, fresh cut fruit, oatmeal, toast, hard boiled eggs, and a few other various food selections. Quite honestly, it was a better spread than I had seen in some "upscale" places I've been before. He even had the kitchen table set up nicely with a plate, bowl, and utensils for each person. Upon finishing our meal and before heading out, Adam asked if we would like to take part in a dinner course he would be preparing that evening for the guests. We said yes and went about our day at Yosemite National Park. We arrived back at the lodge around 7 o'clock and Adam notified us that dinner would be ready at 7:30. So we quickly washed up from our long day and was motioned to the front porch by Adam that our own personal setting and placemats were awaiting us on the bench. It entailed two wine glasses, very nice plates and utensils, and the best possible surroundings set for a romantic dinner date. The dinner was also amazing. We began with a simple salad and vinaigrette dressing. Good way to start. We then followed with a delicious pan grilled chicken breast, rice pilaf, and sautéed veggies. We then finished up with a slice of devilish carrot cake. Also included was a bottle of wine. Now mind you, this dinner was an additional cost to our stay, but it was beyond greater than any other fancy dinner I've had at a lodge or hotel restaurant. We also had great service from Adam and everyone else at the lodge throughout the dinner. We again finished our evening by sitting in front of the fire playing cards, and conversing with the other family that had checked in that same day. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a laid-back, relaxing, quiet, comfortable, and honest place to stay. If you are into the private room and bathroom type of stay, this may not be for you. But if you're open to great hospitality, great people, the chance to meet other great individuals upon your stay, and just an overall great experience, I would say this is the place to stay!

I made a reservation through booking 4 days prior to the arrival date. I message the property same day I did the reservation to check in and make sure everything was fine. They answered confirming that everything was good. I arrived into he date that I was supposed to and the person that we checked in with claim that there was no reservation done under my name. It quickly became clear that he was intoxicated and was having a hard time trying to figure out his system. I asked him if he has wifi available because my phone didn't have service in the area. He took offense as if I was saying it didn't have wifi and still didn't have me the wifi information so I was able to pull up my booking app to show him. I told him yet again my name, and that it was for one night. He then proceeded to make fun why I would only book for one night. He then proceeded to say that I was weird for doing so. We ended up leaving due to the fact of horrible customer service and getting ahold of booking.com directly. I will definitely not recommend staying here due to the horrible customer service.

This review is kind of long but gives you a good idea of what you'll get if you finish it all.My wife, 9 month-old daughter, and I stayed here for an overnight to attend a wedding nearby. I booked 4 months in advance using their website and sent a follow-up email to their displayed email address to confirm that I got my reservation email and that we would be showing up with a baby, a pak-n-play, etc.We drove approximately 3 hours through some rough and hot terrain to get there right at their advertised 4 PM check-in which would have left us just enough time to freshen-up, change, and go right back out for the wedding that day. However, when we arrived, they had no evidence of our booking and the room I had reserved (which looked very nice on their website) was already being used by someone else. I showed them my email confirmation as well as my follow-up. I learned that they had shutdown their website some time back and the person I had emailed was no longer employed with them.Suffice to say, I was about to freak out.Thankfully, the owner, Adam, looked over everything, provided some explanation, and rebooked us into a different room that someone else was scheduled for. (Apparently he found them another place to stay in Groveland for the inconvenience, since we had booked earlier than they had.) We got into our new room, got to the wedding, got some shut-eye afterwards, and had a decent breakfast before getting back on the road home. This place is definitely country, with animal head decor festooning the walls, a friendly big dog, and lots of knick-knacks of local interest. The free continental breakfast was tasty -- no meat, but lots of fruit, cereal, cream, cottage cheese, toast, jams, milk, OJ, etc.Our room was the Sequoia, which wasn't as nice as the room I had originally booked (the John Muir suite). The closet looked like it got regular use for some strange activities. The TV was tiny and the over-head fan did not do much to minimize the summer heat. Still, it was essentially like every other chain hotel room, just with more... personality.I do note that the while they did have free WiFi, it was not very reliable outside of the main gathering area.More importantly, I felt like the staff worked hard to make our situation right. I would've given them more stars had I been able to stay in the better suite, had a room with A/C, and hadn't had to go through the initial panic of thinking I paid for a room and ending up with nothing. They could probably get themselves a much higher rating (and offer a higher price point) by just upgrading that WiFi, fixing the issue with their website, and installing some A/C in the rooms.

This place is a wonderful little quiet retreat in the countryside. The owners were very nice and accommodating. The cabin we stayed in was clean, quiet, and large enough for two people and we even brought along our two dogs. Yosemite is within a 20 minute drive, there are also various recreation areas and hiking trails close by. The complimentary breakfast is a hearty full sized breakfast, waffles, omelette, fresh fruit, bread, and wonderful freshly squeezed juice along with coffee. I plan on staying here again, it was a welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of the city.

BEWARE - THEY WON'T ISSUE MY REFUND: I had made a booking through their website but ended up cancelling a few days before and was eligible for a refund according to their booking policy. I was told on May 31 on the phone that I should be receiving my refund via PayPal within one business day. I had to email a reminder on June 4 to which they responded they were issuing the refund. It is now June 13 and I have not received my refund yet despite multiple emails and phone calls. My last direct communication was a phone call on June 6 during which I was told the refund should appear within one business day. I still have no refund and no response, and the lodge is not responding to my emails or phone calls.Update (June 17, 2022): I had to report a problem on PayPal. During the investigation, I still tried to call and email the lodge however no one responded to me. I eventually got my refund but only because I reported it in PayPal. To date, I have not heard from the lodge.

My last review, reflecting an attempted stay on 2/19/22, was moved out of the recommended ratings. Probably due to the fact that it was my first Yelp review. Be sure to look at the (currently) seven "1" ratings that are not reflected in the overall review. It is now March 16 and we have yet to receive our refund nor an apology.
