The Bear Club

The Bear is BACK!!! The Bear Club located on the east end of Reedley, CA, a farming community is a staple of this area since 1972 and even longer than that when it started as a bar behind a grocery store. Chef Jon Koobation took over the restaurant as Head Chef in 1985! Juan Reyes (Chef & Manager) currently is running the Bear Club and it hasn't missed a beat. After COVID slowed the restaurant down it is back with most of the same menu that Jon Koobation created. I used to frequent this establishment for years when Jon had it and it was frequented by many of the fruit packers, farmers and locals in the area but there are customers from Madera to Visalia and Dinuba. This is one of the last Icons in the area. It has a good vibe with low lighting and white linen tablecloths. Very clean and nice ambiance! We came in for lunch today. The appetizers are always so good. I always order Dungeness Crab Cakes that are served over Spicy Slaw, Remoulade Sauce and avocado. The slaw is what makes it and you have to eat them together. And then the Fried Zucchini Sticks that come with Apricot-Mustard Sauce. The way they make their sauces and house-made dressing are flavorful. The Crispy Calamari Fries with Zesty Heirloom Tomato Jam is good too. I ordered a salad that came with my entree with House-made Raspberry Vinaigrette & Dry Bleu. Try their Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing that I order every time!! Server asked if I wanted fresh ground pepper- that's a +! For the entrees we ordered the 2 specials for the day, 2- Shaved Prime Rib Dip that was a perfect medium-rare tender and juicy. Pan-Seared Salmon over cream corn sauce. Also recommend Grandma Koobation's Recipe Shish Kebab! Lamb Loin Charbroiled to your temperature. On the Dinner menu is Chicken George! Grilled Chicken Breast, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, lemon beurre blanc. It is Jon's special chicken recipe first put on the menu in 1973! It has been tried to be copied by other restaurants so this is a must try here! And leave room for the House-made ice cream! The flavors are Vanilla Frangelico w/ butterfingers, Chocolate Kahlua w/ heath bar, Meyer lemon w/ candied lemon zest (My favorite!!), And Pistachio w/ candied pistachios chunks!! Save room for dessert!! Come support this Valley restaurant! The Servers are friendly and front hostess are wearing white shirts and black pants. Wethersfield Bear Club is back! Loved the atmosphere, delicious food (beautiful presentation as well) and the service was great! Oh, a VERY reasonable price too! We'll go again soon to meet friends there!Thanks again!

Ordered the 10 oz ribeye steak. And a chicken Alfredo plate. The cocktail drinks are too sweet for my liking. The guava colada and Ferrero martini just too sweet.Food was delicious the place is very low key, but elegant ambiance. The servers were very courteous and attentive. Nice surprise, my wife and I were visiting Dinube and the Bear Club had good food, nice wine selection and great service. Would definitely go again if we are in area.

Took my wife to Bear Club tonight for her birthday. We hadn't been in several years. Last time was just before things shut down for Covid. We had heard they closed for a period but are now back open. It's as good as it ever was. Service is always perfect and the food from start to finish was amazing. Thank you Juan for the wonderful birthday dinner. Can't wait to come back again.

The service is impeccable! The espresso martinis to start our meal along with fresh calamari fries with a unique tomato dip - just fantastic to start the meal. Black and blue flat bread with grilled onion and garlic was next - so good, but that's when we realized the portions are huge. The finale of valley grown pistachios encrusting a fresh salmon filet in a lemon sauce I will never forget.

The food is delicious-they have a variety of menu choices and run specials. The service is exquisite, very helpful staff and just the right amount of attention as you eat your meal. They have a full bar with local wines. The restaurant is clean and tables are set with linens. The ambiance is just perfect, dimmed lights, quiet and peaceful. This is a great place to have a nice, private meal that is affordable and delicious.

So thrilled to have this elegant restaurant in our town. Expect fine dining and a relaxed atmosphere while wnjoy a delicious meal from local Farms.

The food was excellent, service was above expectation. The bartender was very good and creative with an excellent Smoked Old Fashion. I had a great Beef Stroganoff wife had Pistachio coated Salmon both were very good, the best was last with a most excellent Bread Pudding. The ambiance is old school and warm, will go back soon!

Excellent food, great ambiance,, and very reasonable prices. I love this place! I eat here often and the food is consistently excellent.
