Taqueria El Maguey

Quiet lunch spot that l love to stop into a few times a month. I like their super vegetarian burritos with jalapeños...fresh and tasty Mexican food. My go to lunch items ate nachos and burritos If I'm eating in then I may order a Chile rellano a la carte. Staff are very friendly. I remember one day I called ahead but when I got there I had forgot my wallet, I switched purses the day before. I was starving and the lady that rang me up actually paid for my burrito our of her tips! I went back the next day to pay her back and gave her a top the price of my lunch!

There has been a Mexican restaurant at this location ever since I've been going to Modesto in 2008. This is my first time back since 2019 - is it the same place? I don't know, but it's definitely similar.Two things that were different -I used to love the chips here. This time they were really stale. We had a late lunch, around 2:30, but that doesn't explain it unless they just left them out from the morning. We've bought freshly fried tortilla chips before and they were still tasty after a few days if they were stored correctly.Not a big deal - but they used to have Jarritos and now they sell Mundet. I had an apple soda - still delicious.Food -One fellow Yelper said they loved the molcajete and described it in a way that my mouth had started watering already. Unfortunately, the waitress informed me that there is no molcajete at this location.The backup plan was the carnitas plate. Carnitas were great - nice and crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. The corn tortillas are made fresh and that really helps make the dish. I'd recommend getting this and some guacamole on the side. The plate comes with a little, but made me crave for some more.

Found a really special place for Mexican food!Didn't realize this has been here for about three years now and so glad to find one this close to home. Had fish tacos and shared it with friend. We will definitely be back. Dining inside or outside on cute patio. Food was fantastic!

I had the Steak Fajitas and Mom had the Chile Verde. Portion sizes were large and had plenty to take home. Food quality was good.

We've ordered takeout once and dined in once. The food is delicious and it's a cute little place. Live the white lights out front and the murals and art inside. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. I'm looking forward to gong back in the spring, or a cool summer evening, and having dinner on the patio.

Beautiful location the inside is just a show of authenticity to the culture. I've had their taco truck before and although I prefer that I really love that they sell more options in restaurant. The ladies here are so nice and attentive

I order food from here all the time. Love the homemade tortillas. My favorite is el molcajete. The sauce is so good. Not a fan of the menudo. Many margarita is good. My only complaint is that they don't always get my to go order right.

Not fancy, but cute. Our waiter was excellent!!! Nice to have a happy waitperson. Fish tacos good but a lot of dressing on the coleslaw. I had to remove some. My partner ordered a chicken dish. He reported that it was tasty, but when found a bone.Salsa does not taste authentic but still food. Corn tortillas very good. Chips okay, obviously not from the corn tortillas the come with.

I do not recomend I went to go eat and there are cockroaches I saw one walking on the table and the waiters are not that nice and they have very bad service and the waitresses are just sitting down on the table with there phone and the tables are not clean at all.
