Dr. Sumrell was my pediatrician when I was a child for a brief time, and my mom recommended him when I was pregnant getting things in order for delivery. I don't remember much about being a patient of his, but a few other friends who have kids recommended him as well. My son is now four months old and we have enjoyed every visit with Dr. Sumrell and his NP Leta, as well as the entire staff at Peachwood. The ladies in the office are so friendly and they always remember us and are excited to see our baby. When our son was a newborn, and I a first-time mother, I called the office probably once a week to ask a question or five about the baby. Yes, you have to leave a message and the nurse will call you back. Yes, you might have to wait a few hours but it's important to remember that there are other patients besides your child and that every one has to wait in line. They don't pick and choose who they want to help first. It's all done fairly. Another review stated that Dr. Sumrell doesn't like kids but that's a silly and far-fetched statement to make. I don't think someone that dislikes children would become a pediatrician. He's not a bubbly, outgoing man by any means. But he is absolutely friendly, easy-going, gentle with children, and thorough. He isn't running out of the room when he's done examining. He always sits and lets us ask anything we want (I always have a list of questions ). I really enjoy going to Peachwood and Dr. Sumrell and his staff.

So I called the other day to make a appointment for my daughter to get some updated shots before she starts kindergarten. When I called @ 11 they said they will have the nurse call me back. Well I received a call back at 130 in the afternoon to schedule an appointment 2 days later. It was now 2 days later and my daughter was running a fever so I called the office to reschedule they cancelled her appointment and rescheduled. I then proceed to schedule and appointment for my younger daughter since she has pink eye for the past 2 days they said the nurse will call me back.. really!!! They could not schedule the appointment they said it's the policy I talk to the nurse, so I said transfer me to the nurse then, they said she will be calling you back since she has a list of people she is calling. So, I got in the shower and had my phone with me and missed the call. I returned the call back and ask to speak to the nurse as I missed the call. They proceed to tell me they will put me back on the list and she will call me back shortly. Really!! I am a nurse at a hospital an it seems we can do things quicker at the hospital then this doctors office!! If there was a -10 stars this place would be a huge (-10) stars in my book. Just know that if your kids is sick expect to get a call back from a nurse an hour later to schedule an appointment that the front desk could simple do! Since they cancelled my older daughters shot appointment with the quickness!!!! Pick another doctors office!!! Boo

Does not listen or care about his patient. Took 2 minutes for a physical which should have been more than 15 minutes since my son had a lot of medical issues--the NP took more than an hour to do complete physical on my daughter and ran a battery of tests to make she was healthy. Then went in for sinusitis, did not believe my kids are prone to sinusitis due to allergies and said it was a virus, a week later she was so much worse, almost bronchitis and had to take to urgent care and ALL of us ended up catching sinusitis. Urgent care said sinusitis. Called Peachwood back and asked to be transferred to different pediatrician. Lady was rude. Went to a different pediatrician who took their time and listened since my son had ear infection--was afraid he would say that my son had a virus and not prescribe anything. Stay away if you want your kids to get well.

I took my newborn son to Dr. Sumrell just twice before it was clear we needed a new doctor. He was not at all attentive or interested in my son, and it seemed clear that he didn't like children. He seemed annoyed by patients and was not at all warm or friendly. The office staff tend to be difficult and rude. Though there are other decent doctors in the practice, I would suggest steering clear of Peachwood Pediatrics all together.
