Well maintained, peaceful and calm garden to leisurely walk through. Nicely paved trails and some small gravel roads. Koi pond and larger pond are very relaxing and photogenic. Definitely worth a visit and many more too.

when you park, memorize your license plate number because when you pay at the booth, you'll have to enter it in before you get the parking ticket.on sunday, feb. 2025 we paid $5.00 for parking & $7.00 per family to tour the shinzen garden.beautiful and peaceful surroundings with benches to sit and take in the beauty of nature. we were lucky to see geese, ducks, 3 stunning peacocks, a turtle, frog and a few koi fish while walking around.bonsai trees are featured in a separate area for viewing & inspiration.the koi pond was a little sad because of the biofilm, and because of that we were only able to see a few koi fish swimming around.nice place to visit to center oneself. pictures don't do this japanese garden justice.

A quaint Japanese garden with peaceful lake views.Attractions include a koi pond, ume grove, and a bonsai collection (closed when we visited in the evening). Admission is very inexpensive ($1 for students!). It doesn't take long to walk through the entirety of the garden, but it is a very pretty and relaxing environment. I noticed several different photography sessions going on (engagement, birthday, and quinceañera).

Great for peace, calmness, mindfulness, serene view of ponds, enjoy a nice walk around. They maintain the cleanliness of this place but certain spots clearly can tell some people don't clean up after themselves chip bags crumbs scattered while we were there. Theres certain area that i can tell needs a little TLC. Area of pond, not sure if the establishment workers do a sweep n check on the fishes daily but poor thing was sunk to the bottom dead and was visible to the public not what i want to see nor do my kids. i would recommend tennis shoes only because theres area of gravel bumpy trails, your sandals and foot will hate you afterwards!

It was so lovely and larger than we expected. Even though it was January the grounds were so beautiful. The bonsai collection was fun - we will go back when they are full of leaves. Highly recommend for a peaceful afternoon.

Breathtaking Japanese gardens with a bonsai shop inside, beautiful ponds and gazebos, peacocks, and koi fish. Came with my kids, ages 5 and 8, and they loved exploring the native Japanese trees and plants and seeing the peacocks and koi fish. Nice shaded walks and it's not expensive either. Paid parking in the lot and it's $7 for families. No food allowed and you can't bring in blankets either but there are plenty of benches and gazebos with seats and lovely views. Restrooms were clean and accessible also.

Easy to find, not too crowded. Parking is limited but not difficult to find. There's always more parking lots nearby. It's also a short, nice, and scenic walk!

Stopped by Shinzen Friendship Garden over MDW. Parking is $5, however the kiosk machines were having some issues accepting card payments, so the parking attendant said we could use the senior pricing $3 as we got cash after paying the entrance fee to the garden. For 2 people the entrance fee for the garden was $7. My only complaint is the park is so close to the road/highway that it does get a bit loud with the car noise pollution in some of the interior areas.Their Bonsai garden section has different hours than the Garden's hours. Really liked some of them and they even have some for sale.Great location for special ocassion pictures (saw a lot of graduation & even what looked like a quinceañera photographs being taken). If you are a fan of Japanese Gardens, I would say the one in San Diego is better, but this Shinzen Garden in Fresno was a nice visit and the park it is located in is quite expansive as well!
