Our family used Shaver Lake Rentals this past week, and we were charged $500 for a pet that was not there. They said in a email, not a phone call, that they had strong proof of a pet in the cabin. Absolute scam to get more money out of renters, there was never a pet there and how they can say they have strong proof but won't tell us what the proof is. I would not recommend them. After reading the other reviews it seems common practice to charge renters for made up incidental fees.

Shaver Lake is a beautiful destination in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. The cabins are cute and rustic. A nice break from city life and a way to get back to nature.

I stayed with shaver lake rentals last year and was counting on making this my annual winter trip. On our second annual trip we had a issue that I thought was handled when I was there. About 2 hours into our stay The second floor restroom started leaking into the bottom floor garage. As soon as someone noticed we turned off the water and I I called emergency maintenance and told them about my issue. Someone went out looked at it and said he'd comeback in the morning. The problem is that I assumed maintenance talked to the manager Trish in the office about the issue. On check out day We all cleaned everything Leaving no mess behind. After arriving home I checked my checking and seen they took 500$ for the leak from the restroom. I've called to talk to Trish several times and she's only giving me the run around. Saying she needs to talk to maintenance. We checked out on Sunday and it's now Wednesday. She just left me a message saying she would get back soon. She also accused me of having a DJ in our rental. No we didn't have a DJ. And she sent me a pic with A lamp shade missing saying it was found in the closet. It seem she's accusing us of partying all weekend and being careless. Which is not what happened. This has been the most inconvenient horrible experience and I will never stay with this place again. Before you stay here ask yourself if you want to pay for repairs if something that is out of your control goes wrong.

We planned this vacation mid last year to spend our new year in this beautiful town with family and friends. We spent thousands of dollars and rented two 6 bedroom houses through Shaver lake Vacation Rentals. Even though we knew that the check in was at 4pm we decided to leave early on 12/31/2015 to avoid the traffic to get there. We got there around 11:45 am(right around noon time). We personally saw that one of the houses was getting cleaned but the second one was ready to go . Asked for the keys to that was ready and the nightmare began. Just want to tell you SCOTT BRUMBACK you are coward. I don't know how you got to the position on being a manager, marketing and reservations. You let 8 kids out there in the cold to make a point that check in was at 4 oclock. Made us drive to your office twice to get keys for each house separately and threaten me on the phone that you will cancel one of the reservations and leave the family out there on the New Years Day. Not to mention you hung up the phone on my face at least twice while I was talking to you. You are a great example MANAGER for you employees. If the company owner wants to get more info about this reply to me and I will answer you back.

I wish I would have checked Yelp before we booked. Here is our additional 1 star rating, would be zero if I could....Huntington Lake Condo #92: 2 BR / 2 BA in Lakeshore, Sleeps 4" We booked our stay for unit #115 a couple months in advance. Less than one week in advance Shaver Lake Vacation Rentals (SLVR), the property manager, informed us that we must move to another unit due some deck or stair damage that will not be repaired on time. Our family was really looking forward to the vacation, and especially the large outdoor decks with table chairs and chez lounges. Being able to be outside is why we wanted to rent this condo. SLVR gave us a few choices of other condos. I responded that I was not happy with any of them due to the lack of deck space, or if they did have a deck, they didnt have pool/spa access. After a couple emails trying to get what we wanted, Scott B. from SLVR simply cancelled our reservation without pre-notifying me, ONE day ahead of our vacation. Scotts attitude was very nonchalant and not sensitive to our situation. If I ran my business that way, I would be out of business. At this point our options were very limited, one day ahead of our vacation. There was a unit #92 offered to us (in email) with a small deck, pool/spa access and wifi. We took this unit because the wifi seemed a small consolation to not having the deck and would help occupy the kids. Our stay was not great. Unit #92 was very dated and worn. Between the stacked wood and the gas grill there was barely enough room on the deck to stand while cooking. Wifi was NOT available as we were told, and when I called Scott again he seemed unconcerned about our experience, and simply said "sorry about that, none of the condos have wifi, we wish they did". I also sent an email about the condo that has gone unanswered. Upon opening the door to the shower on the first night I discovered half the tile on the plumbing wall of the shower was missing and replaced with a metal plate and silicone. The rest on the caulking wall moldy and cracked along the tub.I could go on, but what is point. We were very disappointing with our experience, especially with SLVR. We will not be renting at this location again

We stayed with Shaver Lake Rentals last weekend. We understood our cabin, Cozy Bear Chalet, was "rustic" and older and took the many upgrades it needs in stride. I use the term rustic as the cabin needed many updates, The cabin had 4 beds, only 1 was comfortable. Our daughter refused to use the sink in the bathroom because it was full of rust stains and was very visually unappealing. Our first night there there was a good amount of rain and the chimney leaked so much we had to place a bowl to catch the drips. We reported the leak but were told nothing could be done. We endured the leaky roof. There was not a dishwasher in our cabin and the company relies on tenants to wash and put away the dishes they used. Every single dish we used had dried food on it and we had to prewash everything. We checked into our cabin at 2 pm, which we appreciated the 2 hour early check in, but had about 10 bags of the previous tenants trash piled right next to the front door (some bags spilling over) until about 7 that evening. I could go on. When we returned home we received an email that we were being charged an extra 200$ for damage to a table we never even used.We noted the table had several big splotches and scratches on it when we arrived but figured it had been there a while so didnt complain. When I spoke to the person the email originated from he passed me on to a voicemail for a supervisor instead of handling the situation himself. Yes, it says in the terms that I signed to note anything that has damage, but had I mentioned every little thing I would have been on the phone every 10 minutes.
